question about nintendo wii

Hello I am new to Gameamp. I have been playing Guild Wars a little over two years now, and now I decided to sign up on this site. Anyway, I have a question about the Wii. When I try to connect to the internet, it won't work. I have a wireless router and when I search for an access point, it finds the router but when I test the connection it it gives me an error. Any one know why??? I looked on support for nintendo and it says my router's channel should be on either 1 or 11. Mine is on channel 6 and I don't know how to change it. Any help would be appreciated. Btw, I have a Linksys router if that is any help. Thank you.

RE: question about nintendo wii

ok type into a new window of your browser(so you dont loose your instuctions guy) 192.168.1.1
this page is your routers settings page

edit1 :
lynksys... I'm lookng for the emulator. So I can guide you to the part where you change the channel from 6 to 1 or 11 however you need to be aware that changing it just like that would be a bad idea because your computer will still be on channel 6.

ok well actually do you have a little green icon in your task bar looks like a green monitor screen?

like this?

if so then you have a system that scans the channels to pick up which channel your router is on and will not be bothered by you changing on the aforementioned set-up page.

RE: question about nintendo wii

ok well if you don't have the little green icon (how deep down did i know you wouldn't) then roughly how old is your router?

you dont have to answer infact I would rather you didnt. if its more than 2 years old or you didn't install it using the software that came with it. what you will need to do is change the channel both your lynksys wifi card is using and your router is using. to do this (tho most will poll the channel some dont) is find the instructions for your wifi card... I'm guessing you got it all in one from a computer shop... /sigh

OK right right click my computer go to computers and then the hardware tab click device manager look for network adapters.

click the little +next to to network adapters should show you what your on in terms of what your network adapter is whats the name(s)?

eidt : some spelling thing

Lol, old school ftw i say.

Also, on topic, Is it a WRT54G? Because i have that same one and i could tell you that its easy to hit the reset button on it and make it normal again to factory condition. Also, the wii has an internal adapter so don't go using a USB adapter on the wii. ^^

It should just work if your router is set normal.

Unless you have it passworded with a WEP or have it blocking all MAC Addresses but your computer's MAC.
