Created a new character? Don't know a good name? Here's my solution!
PvE Characters that have to last:
Go to the shop and buy a game magazine. Look for some RPG games and find a cool name. You can also just look on the internet for RPG games to look for a name.
PvP Characters that make fun of other ppl (in a FUNNY way):
For example:
Kanna Played Nekkid
Jarmina Dentist
From Famous Guild [AMP]
I Say Amp Amp Amp [AMP]
Well you get the point =D
This was just a little tip for the ppl that never get better names than "I name I" or "name Pvp" or even "Legolas" (very original that last one).

And I also said you can just look on the internet. I have a monthly subion on PC Gameplay, so that's where I can pull my names out of.

Random Internet Name Generators ftw.
Alternatively i find Latin words describing something about the profession of the character you're going to play quite inventive.
Example,
You're creating a Warrior, who (at least to start with) you know you're gonna make sword based. So typing in things like Warrior,Hero or Sword into a Latin translator (there are many out there online) to see what pops up.

I usually go with the "George Lucas jedi naming convention"
First Name = first 3 letters of your last name + first 2 letters of your first name.
Last Name = first 2 letters of your mothers maiden name + first 3 letters of your city of birth.
Kosch Fimar, Harch Brdal, and Myrco Hardal, to name a few I've created.

at first i did random names such as Bob Friendly and Green Armor is Cool, and Green Armor is Kool
then i did my main warrior, Neb The Warrior
Now i just do Neb The _________

Ah that's a totaly different story.
I was playing runescape with a friend of me about.. 8 years ago and we had to think of a name. We both had an RC-car called Blazing Star. Since we were with 2, Blazing became Blazings =]
And now it's my nickname at online stuff, cus nobody uses it.

Yes i played RS aswell, but now i'm playing GW I'm ashamed of that. Still a good game tough, for when ur really bored.

Another good source for names is fantasy books. I forget what I pulled Mithros out of, but Rose is my surname and Oeworoth came out of a dragons of pern name generator. All of my characters involve at least one of these three names or a version of them:
Mithros the Rose
Mithros Oeworoth
Thorne Rose
Rosaline the Green
Rosaline Oeworoth
...you get the idea!

Are you by any chance from either Belguim or Netherlands?
Also, you can always try ancient styles.
For example, if creating a Ranger: try looking up bow or arrow or woods in old Celtic and stuff like that.

Blah.. Internet surely might be the best place to find names (NOT including those crappy name generators), but also:
Tjanz Firenze
Tjanz Wychwood
Deathbringer Tjanz
Tjanz was just a popup in my head, while Firenze came in when I decided to build fire-ele.
I started necro and no clue about the name, so I took a look around my HOUSE and noticed un-opened bottle of beer called Wychwood's "something" and took that Wychwood out of it for second name (Wych --> Witch).
Deathbringer was just another popup while I knew dervs can spread nice dmg "around him/her" to adjacent (or to be specific, "clumped in front of you") foes.
Also got my Ranger called Forrester Wychwood.
Rest of my char names was pure popups, too.

I'm an altaholic and play way too many games as it is so I'm often looking for new names. I've found that joke names, while fun for a while, tend to get old, though sometimes they get a life of their own.
I've grown to use about 5 'default' names with variations based on whatever world I'm playing in, but whenever I need some outside inspiration here's the sources I go to:
- Side characters from books I've read. All the Aragorn, legolas and Gandalf misspellings aside, there's plenty of names to pick from in the appendix of any Tolkien novel. Most recently I've been picking names from Steve Erikson's Malazan Tales of the fallen series as they're often very mundane in a cool kind of way. Bottle, Kettle, Fiddler, "Anomander Rake, Knight of Darkness" that kind of thing.
- Wikipedia > Celtic Mythology > random clicking till you find something you can pronounce and spell. Combining some of the names of Celtic mythological beings or "Celtifying" a latter day name usually gives great results. Substitute any other mythology (Nordic, Slavic, Greek, Roman, Germanic, Native-American) as you wish.
- Baby name sites. There's a plethora of those out there. Best are those with explanations of the names and /or ethymological origins. You can often find a more "fantasyish" version of a "normal" name.
If all else fails:
Get a D6 and a D20 and keep rolling those till you've run out of allowed characters in your name.

First three chars I made were Zephyr Storm (my main char), Soothing Mistress, and Celtic Queen. From there on, I have named all my chars Celtic ______. Don't know why...just though it sounded cool I guess lol :P.
