From all that i haved read i think guild wars 2 will be crap. lv 100's or unlimited lv's will be a waste of time plus what are they trying to do making it like wow? the advantage that guild wars has is that it's free servers, so they should do something like wow. my opinion is thta guild wars 2 will suck i dont know about others, some say it will be good some say it won't guess we will just have to wait about 2-3more months.

I think it WILL be good.
Btw..I think you have to wait longer then 3 months till you know if it will be a good game. You'll have to see it first before you can judge it.

The thing thats gonna put it aside from WoW will be graphics and expect to see a new style of playing, the fact people even say it will be like wow pisses me off. Not mad at you i am just tired of hearing it.

I'm just saying i hope it won't be like WoW, cause you will have to spend Lots of time on leveling your character and that won't be fun, they should make something completly diffrent.

Yeah, that would suck, thats the sort of thing that made me never stick to WoW ive had my trial accounts in WoW many times, cant tell how man because i lost track :) The game never sucked me in. GuildWars did and so did Everquest 2. And Everquest 2 is a MMO similar to wow with better gfx and you don't "grind" on eq2 like you would WoW. Yes EQ2 is $14.99 A month :)
I doubt we will have to grind in GW2.

i can't imagine it being any good at pvp, well...need to get used to it. with all the new pve stuff like that u can jump and swim and climb etc seems fun for pve side. i really am curious how the pvp is even going to work :o
oh well, still long way to go.

lol they wouldnt really make it like WoW becasue everyone would stop playing well not the oridinal one but the new one.
WoW sucks ass anyone that plays it in my opion doesnt know what a true game is aha.
i remember downloading the free trail when me and my mate were doing a review we never leveled up at all (apart from waht you must to get out of the first bit) and we spent all the time runnig around the mountains to get around to the moderator area didnt make it into it but we made it round the entire map lmfao and getting attack by hemped out goblins that when you looked at they ran.
any way if you havent gathered i really think WoW sucks so if GW2 is anyhting like WoW i will just carry one with the oridinal one i love them.

Last I heard, the benefits of levelling would become less and less, so that while you can technically keep on levelling as high as you want, you won't really have a significant advantage over someone who is a little lower (like the strength difference between a level 10 and a level 20 will be vastly larger than the difference between a 90 and 100). In this case, levelling doesn't necessarily equate to stronger characters, its just more of a marker of how long the character has been played.
Most of the GW2 info (that has been released) is still very rough though...
For the record, I'm firmly in the "Won't know or judge until I play it" camp. Won't keep me from being hopeful though, based on how much I've enjoyed GW1...

gota agree w/the people who are hopeful but not judging it yet. if it ends up being a little bit like wow, that wouldn't be the worst thing ever. I'm personally for no lvl cap, so long as it's done properly (ie the whole thing about there being a huge diff between 10 and 20 but not nearly as big as the gap between 90 and 100). that way, I always have a reason to just sit back and kill some mobs.
I just hope that they won't make gear a huge deal like it is in wow. I have some friends that play wow and they won't stop complaining about how they now have useless gear since they made it to 70. Course, i just keep my mouth shut about them having no lives, lol

There have also been several occasions in the past where I've heard about a new feature being added or changed in a piece of software that I use that made me think "Oh no! They're totally gonna mess it up now!"
More often than not, the changes/features end up being great, though sometimes they just take getting used to. So I just stopped pre-judging things (or at least, not putting much stock in my own prejudgements). For me this applies to GW just as much as it does to any of the other software I use. ;-)

Why do people say it's going to be like WoW? Have some of you people even played WoW? Getting to high levels does not =the game is just like WoW. completely revamping the battle system? Ok then it could be like WoW. But I am fairly certain they will use the same sort of template.

From going over the Wiki page mentioned, I have the exact opposite reaction from the OP. Rather than believing GW 2 will suck, I suspect/hope it will be very nice, though not as great as the first was the first time. You can only pop that cherry once.
One thing that makes me hopeful for the game is that even though there may be 100 to unlimited number of levels, there's going to be a power ceiling.
I imagine that pretty much as how you currently top-off at level 20, but keep gaining experience after. But rather than stay at level 20 indefinitely there will be additional levels. Someone playing for a few months might be Level 25 and someone playing for a year or more might already be Level 75 but they will be more or less of the same 'strength' in terms of stats.
The huge benefit is one that's always been Guild Wars' and no other MMOG has. It means 70-90% of the concurrent player base will be eligible for grouping, at least in terms of level range. For someone who likes to group that's a good thing. With most MMORPGs it's like 10-20% concurrent players in your range. It sounds like GW 2 will have the same approach to leveling in that you stop advancing in an ongoing linear direction but spread out in 'width' through additional skills that become available to you. The 'Deck' approach made famous by Magic the Gathering.
The Wiki page nowhere states anything that makes it sound Guild Wars 2 is becoming more WOW-like. It's taking on some aspects of persistent worlds, something making GW2 more like most MMORPGs in general and incidentally addressing the most often voiced critique on the original GW game. That's not becoming WOW-like though, it's becoming MMOG-like.
The one other thing GW already adopted from MMORPGs and I doubt they'll be able to avoid this time around (since no-one else seems to be able to) is grind. GW has tons of grinding, so ahs WOW, so has EQ-2 and every MMORPG I've ever played or read about. If GW 2 manages to eliminate it, they'll write MMORPG history.
GW 2 really sounds much like GW but Bigger, Better, Louder.

And that wouldn't surprise me if they do elimate "grinding" i mean look at guildwars compared to WoW, Eq2 or any other mmo and compare the game mechanic, Guildwars is simply genius since the first day i saw the game i knew it wasn't like other games.

True, GW is really a novel game in many ways. But what makes you think they'll eliminate grinding in GW2? If you take an honest look at GW you'll notice that with each ínstallment' PvE consists of a campaign, a nice long one for Prophecies and mediocre shorter ones for the other two, it's mostly grinding for titles, armor pieces and gold. Farming == Grinding.
Grind isn't always bad, even though it's an obvious time-sink to hide the lack of content. I do want it to have meaning. i.e. a reason beyond getting a title. I don't like inflicting genocide on a race by killing hundreds of thousands for a title which effectively says "I spent 1000 hours killing 100.000 severely limited AI's in a highly repetitive way. No, I'm not a psychopathic serial killer, honest". And that is what Troll / Charr / Griffin / Ettin / whatever farming amounts to. It's what makes an Explorer like me turn to other games.

it will be quite interesting, i know with married life about to hit me smack bam in the face in a few months, my gaming life will change, no doubt.
with GuildWars 2, i honestly think it will be a ground breaking MMO, just like the first, getting away from a lot of the Cliches of the MMO world, those being High Levels requiring grinding, drab graphics compared to single player games (ie: ElderScrolls IV), shared environments (that really pissed me off in the previous MMO's that i played, the only nice thing was i could kill almost anyone in my farming spot, then need to leave 15 minutes later after they grabbed their buddies and tried to gank me)
hehe, not sure if anyone's heard of RYL, but i was North America's highest ranked Player Killer in PoTE beta as 'Vane' and 'Ashra' that went on for a long time. (1/400,000+)
that game was the last MMO i played before GuildWars, infact, while i was playing RYL, most of my friends were leaving to play the GW Beta and i eventually turned over and have been playing GW from it's release, i'll also be playing GW2 from its release date.
anyway, compared to the other MMO's GW has alway had a realism that i've enjoyed, i've played WoW before and i just can't get passed how cartoony they look, heck, even RYL, a low-budget game had better. in this day and age of SLi'd, Bridged Video cards surpassing 1.5 gigs in combined power, why would i want to play a dull looking game? doesn't make any sense at all in my investment on my 'gaming comp' that i brag about... hehe. i know there's a lot of content in WoW and other MMO's that surpass GW1, but yea, personal preference i suppose.
WoW will be popular still and hard to get people to switch from until a much improved WoW 2 comes out that's totally new and groundbreaking, the same way i'm going to have a hard time letting go of GW1 when GW2 comes out, we've all spent time on our characters, immortalizing them with titles, armor, and weapons, we've bought 'chapters and expansions', invested a lot of time and some money into playing this game, of course it's going to be hard saying 'good-bye'... i type /age and am shocked at the time (i call it dedication as well) spent on the game, quite amazing. it's for these reasons that i believe people stick to their games, they become attached at the hip so to speak. ( this is meaning those who are really GW fans)
anyway, i anticipate GW2, i think it will be a great game, going back to my first few sentances, because life will be busy for me, i'm pretty sure i'll only have 1-2 characters. =) but hey, that could change.

at least with guild wars you do not have to pay a monthly fee to be able to play. wow requires you to do this and i think it is crazy to pay so much money for the game itself and then having to pay a monthly fee in order to play it! i know so many pple at work that are wow gamers and yeah i do not understand it either, but i give them credit for giving it the effort lol. i have looked at some of the graphics of the new guildwars and i think it will be fun to play. it seems like the characters will have some facial expressions too which will make it a little more entertaining. i really do not play games much anymore since i work on computers all day, but every once in a while it is fun to pull out the gamer in me and kill a few monsters. haha

I wish there came no such thing as GW 2. That would mean I spent 1500 hours of my life on a game nobody is gonna play after that. Because let's fac it.. if GW 2 comes out 90% of the players will stop playing GW 1.
That means doing almost no mission with real players and everything with h/h. This makes GW a lot less fun and convinces most ppl to start GW 2 so they can play with real ppl again.

A bit of a tangent, but this just made me think of something that would be REALLY cool.
Given Anet's streaming technology, it would be really cool if they could somehow have us "play through" the transition between the games. Granted it wouldn't really work, given the stated time difference betwen GW1 and GW2.
But as a theoretical example, imagine GW1 as Pre-Searing, and GW2 as Post. How cool would it be to be able to play through that actual cataclysmic transition?
Anyway, like I said, tangent, back to the original thread. xD

we dont have any screenshots of GW2 we do not have actul footage of GW2 all we know is that text that is on wiki and too my opinion you cant judge a game with that.
you can imagine as much as you like ofcourse but i dont mind it at all i will see it when i play the beta test and too my opinion you can only judge a game correctly if you played it.

gw2 will be way too different to make people quit gw1 immediatly. when counter strike source came out, some people stopped 1.6 but the majority NOT, i know u can't really compare an fps with a mmporg but to say that you will have WASTED 1500 hours for nothing is just stupid. i've spent over 6000 hours on it and if i were ever banned or quit or w/e it wouldn't too much of a big deal...the time is not wasted as it's a game where u have fun while playing which is a main intention, right?
i strongly believe gw1 will still be strongly populated :)
