hello, i am trying to decide with secondary i want for an ice tanker. i am currently stick between energy, war mace, and battle axe. i am kind of leaning towards energy because smashing and lethal is often resisted, or defended against, but I am still open to all aspects.
P.S. the reason i lean against fire, stone, ice, and super strength is because I've already used SS, fire seems boring to me, and stone and ice don't seem to have the same damage out put.

I've never liked Energy for Melee because of the knock back feature. I want my victim(s) to stay near me :-)
But I'm more a scrapper than a tank, it might be less of a problem for a tank as you tend to be fighting groups more than individuals (which is how I play my scrappers)

Okay, for Ice Melee: Its damage output is quite decent now, rather close to the expected bar with Frozen Aura at the same damage level as Footstomp, just pure cold. And cold damage is less resisted. Its not that bad anymore, but you gotta wait for it to show it.
Stone is actually rated just under SS for damage output when paired with something other than granite. It also comes with 2 reliable dmg migation powers that is almost as good as Ice Melee was, and is. But its still a bit slow in appearance, but its hits hurt.
Fire, yeah, way too many. But for a good reason, lots of dmg.
SS, read above.
War Mace. Nice addition, but its behind many of the rest, but it does have a reliable stun ability and KB/KD mix. Its alright, but the smash resist of most makes this a tough set to sell, even though its inherintly accurate.
War Axe. Ouch. This is the bar people are talking about. Damage is nice, combination with KD and damage... yeah, nice. Its mostly lethal, so it does have resist issues, but its fairly constant being between high and superior damage most of the time, and inherintly accurate.
Energy Melee. PvP swears by it. Its good, at the bar, and is quite reliable. If less accurate than axe or mace, buts the lack of resist on many opponents makes is one of the nicer additions with its stuns.
Personally, I say go Ice Melee. But outta your list, its a close draw between the 3. EM is a bit more poular, with axe and mace seen less often. Especially mace, its hard trying to actually find one.
The 'best' choice for damage is EM, followed by axe then mace. But go with whatever you like the most, not what everyone else does.
Have fun, dive in, and think about it later.

Heh, I may actually be way off on that. I always associate Energy with Knock Back from the descr!ption of the powerset for other AT's, but I must admit I haven't thoroughly checked if it applies to Tanks. Might just be a bad assumption on my part.

Energy Melee for a tanker is mostly disorient. Mace and Battle Axe both have some knockback though.

My Willpower/EM tanker is 33 now. She's desperately awaiting Energy Transfer. She's very sad without it...
Poor Aurora Australis.
