..change the appearance of your 2 year old character?
It has just been my wish lately to remodel my warrior and monk, since I like female characters better than male characters. But I have done so much with them that it would be a shame if I deleted them, to start over.
A solution would be: A make-over weekend. It's just like the normal weekend events, but this time there is an NPC you can talk to in every capital city. He will allow you to change the sex and or appearance of your character, the same way as you would design a cape now.
Another thing I came up with: It looks a bit like the one above. Having a make-over NPC in every capital city where you can change the appearance of your character. There should/could be some rules for this:
-Only one change per character, per (half) year;
-It will cost you a few k (as with the cape);
-You're only allowed to use the NPC when your character is over one year old, and than every (half) year.
NOTE: I think that íf you change the appearance, it should be from the same campaign. Don't want to disapoint you with it, but it would be odd if someone from prophecies looked like someone from NF.
This is not just my problem, I have spoken to many ppl that would like to change their character, but encounter the same problem (deleting after all the trouble and memories..)
So what do you think about this? Aren't you bored of looking at the same face for years?

I like the idea.
Cause I made an Elonian Warrior, but I really like the prophecies hair better lol.
Full makeovers would be nice too I guess, but not like those Reality shows though.

It's been talked about for a long time to add some functionality like this (at a minimum a hairstylist). Yeah, it would be great, but unfortunately Anet has always treated it as a backburner issue.
Your post did, however, remind me of April Fools day last year, when all our characters changed sexes. THAT was some comedy gold (and it also reaffirmed my position that a lot of the male models look "weird"). ;-)
Funny thing was, I think there were a few people in AMP who were like ""OMG! WTF?!?! Hey wait a minute, that's not a bad look...", and proceeded to make new characters based off of that. xD

But that's for Anet to describe. Maybe they'll do it when GW 2 comes out so we can have some good fun with GW 1 (althought I really really hope they do it earlier =] )

I have been wanting to be able to change some of my characters hair for so so long >.< I wish A-net would bang in some way of chaning your hair because I want dreds on my ranger! :(
I believe what doesnt kill you only makes you STRANGER!!?

Well I hope that is not for your monk =P The colors matches the FoW pretty good. But I like female monks much more, I only made a male on at the time cus their "flex" was cooled xD Can you believe that?

It wouldnt be for my monk , but some of my other characters have horrible hair which at the time I thought looked good :S

but...not for me T_T
i don't care about appearance, i won't go in AB and get killed (ONLY ONCE PER BATTLE!!11!eleven!1!!) and that i would go like: OMG, that warrior with a helmet on has a weird face o.O i wish i wasn't killed by that warrior but by a stylish elementalist!!

I haven't gotten sick of my characters' appearances yet, I have only had my account for 13 months. I do like the idea tho, it would be really neat if Anet would do something like that.

I actualy don't play on my monk a lot because I just get annoyed by the way he walks so bad.. with every step it looks like his arms are gonna fall off or something. And I have never seen anyone stick his neck forward, and still reaching about 1/2 of his chest size O.o

Well I actualy study game design (yeah that's an eduction in my country) and it's not that hard for Anet at all. They just have to re-direct you to the same screen you get when you create a character, but than apply it in-game right away (wich it also does when creating a new char actualy).
Ok it might need a little more programming, but let's face it.. who are the ppl that made GW GW? Exactly.. They hardly ever put up major updates, so they should have enough time for this one =]

yeppers, this is an old, but still good idea.
To those of you who are like, "Anet cant do this because they are working/its too hard." it really isnt, RUNESCAPE has it..... so that says alot. and Anet isnt really that busy with making new stuff. There is GW2, but that team Isnt (to my knowledge) doing much to GW1. Most of Anet's Ajustments are to messing up farming builds, so GvG'ers don't have any more ele flag runners ;D

I just recently got rid of my derv :P Was in a rush when i made him so he had some weird hairstyle :/ Only used him for 130 and stuff and since the recent Mystic Regen Rape is another reason i got rid of him. But mainly his hair was EWW! Would be nice to Redo Toa's Hair though :/

hehe, indeed! i greatly regret making my ele's hair the way it is, first char i made, didn't know you could rotate to see what the back looks like! (talk about noob)
anyway, haha., hated it, but guess i could've remade her immediately but i wanted to play the game so bad. :P
wow, that was 3 years ago, damn.
kinda wish i could change Tarja's hair as well to what my mesmer has. :P

back on topic: i used to play runescape but got bored fairly quickly so i didnt know that they had that option
just wish they did have that face changing option in there seeing as my war is finally getting elite armor. thanks for pointing that out :D

GW sex change? X) That just spells controversy. Anyway I think changing your sex is a bit much. A hairdresser would be cool though. But it doesn't look like they will ever add that.

Love the idea, but unfortunately, I don't think this will ever happen.
It's been asked about for as long as I can remember and I've never seen anything to imply that A-Net has even considered it. All I've ever seen has been the same generic lame "that's a great idea for GW2/that's not possible to implement in the current design/etc" response.
I would really have to question their backend database design if what should be non-identifying attributes are impossible to change.
Who knows, maybe everything about a character name/appearance/gender/campaign/class/height/shoe size is a primary key in their database. That would make me very very very sad. My boss would probably fire me if I tried to implement things like that.
The sad thing is, they've even shown that at least part of the mechanism is already in place (gender change weekend, forced name changes, etc.) Unfortunately, what it more than likely boils down to is a matter of time and $$$. They probably don't feel that the investment in time to develop these types of features can be justified financially. It doesn't bring any more money to the table and only eats up time from developing other revenue-generating products (GW2, etc.)
Oh well, maybe one day we'll get what we want. One can certainly dream... :)

The hairdresser idea. An extremly popular idea. I even support it because, i would like to change a couple of my characters hair styles. My ranger for example, who is from nightfall, the bandana kinda gettin old... i mean its sorta not matchin armors anymore, and its not worth it to remake the character.
