My wife just recently started playing GW. She download the client and then the game and got in on my account just fine. The only problem is that there is no mouse in the game. The mouse works but she just has to guess at where to click. It is not there in the login in screen, the character selection, or in the game at all. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

You can try Windowing the game, maybe then the mouse re-appears?
I dont know, i once got a problem with a mouse pointer when i was poking around on a different computer with Refresh Rates, that could help.

Well none of the tips so far have worked. Not when she tries all of that with the external mouse or even trying to use the touchpad. It just never shows up when she is in the game at the logon screen or loading or anywhere. I don't know what else to try???

This is the second time I look at this topic and still no clue how to solve it. Did you contact Anet already? Sometimes they come up with the most wicked idea's to solve your problem.

Could you provide us with the following?:
- OS involved (Windows 98/2K/XP/Vista)
- Mouse brand and model
- Are you using the Mouse maker's own software/driver package or is Windows running the show. If the former, is it up to date and configured? if the latter, apply the former.
- Which videocard is involved and are its drivers up to date?

it is windows vista
and it doesn't even work with the touchpad that came in the laptop, so those woulb be the standard windows drivers as far as I know
and it is an integrated video card in the laptop

Vista eh?
*slowly starts backing away from the laptop, making sure not to make any sudden movements*
Ehmmm, ok. I know NCSoft support has a lot of experience with mice pointers not working in game with Vista. And not just from Guild Wars but from Tabula Rasa and City of Heroes/Villains as well.
Sadly I don't know the direct fix. Well, in CoX they had to make an adjustment to the game in order to accommodate Vista.
You're probably best of contacting Tech support though, I can only make wild guesses when it comes to Vista and the only sage advice I can give is not to install it. Failing that, uninstall it and upgrade to XP.

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse > Pointer Options >
Un-check display pointer trails if its on.
Change the mouse pointer to another one then change it back.
Also disable pointer shadow and smart move.
It could be that another application has your pointer what background apps do you run?
edit :
One other solution might be to try running it in compatibility mode.
Oh and disable widgits or gadjets what ever they are called some of those tend to have slow response from what I have seen of them and may be polling. hmm macs don't have these problems and they have been running vista for years :/.
disclaimer : I might be wrong about everything but no one pays me so I wont recognize liability.
