Gheal vs. Fheal

I know over the past few years, there has been many changes with priests, and these changes have made it so that the strategy for healing has changed..... at one point, the most mana efficient way to heal went from low level heal, to low level gheal, to max level gheal.

Personaly, now, with raiding Gruul's, ZA, and Kara, I have found that I spam Gheal max rank. I time my heals for the most part that I rarely ever go /oom, and rarely ever do I find a tank dying because I didnt have enough +heal. So, with my spec, my style works for me.

I have friends who criticize that I have a high overheal %. I counter that with the fact that I have a high total heal rating, and a very low /oom chance.

My stats are roughly, not enough stam for anything, 1750ish +heal, with close to 400 mp/5.

So, I guess the point of what I am posting is, What do you guys use? What kind of strategy healing such places do you use?

RE: Gheal vs. Fheal

I have a 64 Resto Druid and a 43 Priest, and I've found that a mod called xperl helps with healing immensely.

The feature I like is the setting that shows your party's health as an inverse of their normal health. They start out with 0(max) and any number above that is how much they need to gain full health.

A quick and easy way to make sure your heals are spot on with efficiency.

Other than that, for healing, I usually bubble/renew non-tanks. And for tanks, I use my biggest heal whenever they reach 30% health left, it'll hit when they have 20%, and they usually aren't at max health, but only 50-100 health off.

No need to top em off, just keep em above 50% most of the time, based on how fast the enemy can deal damage.

Though, you being at raiding level, and my 70 rogue has only 3 pieces of 70 gear, I may be preaching to the choir.

I appreciate the timely response. And thank you for not giving me an "omg you noob" answer. Everything you touched upon is very good for basic healing though. I am more interested in other raid healers styles, and ideas.

Well, I don't consider myself a raiding healer...I have yet to get into Kara (by choice).

As far as healing goes, the bubble/renew combo is priceless in so far as that they ARE instant casting spells. You can't take your eyes of that MT's HP. :-) But I find that having an instant is very very beneficial since the tank has to be kept up or else its a probable wipe.

For the MT's or plate wearing classes, I make sure I keep a renew over them-especially the MT. Once in a while at 50-60% HP, I'll use a Circle of healing on them. Its a great AoE heal for the OT and pets, too. Another instant casting spell.

Binding heal cannot be ignored - especially if you need some HP as well. But the GHeal is reserved for the MT (for me) as he's the only one that needs all that bonus.

Just my style too. :-D

With situations like that you really gotta watch out with threat, especially with heals like that. Also PoM is probably one of the most useful heals a priest can have too bad it's only later :(

As a druid you will have tons of fun healing in PvP, my poor geared resto druid, can tank a full vengeance warrior with no problem or even a couple of rogues I bet it makes them so pissed and if I see I'm going down why not run =P
