from the other threads posted on this topic it appears that cryptic terminated this project. i personally dont understand why a company would make a game that is identical to one they have already developed and has been out for years.

Nope they terminated the Marvel game, not this one that is a new link. The new game is forthcoming.

Yeah, it really is just a city of heroes 2. Kinda weird, unless maybe they integrate the games or something along those lines... as far fetched as that may seem. All I know is that champions has pretty much every addition I asked to be added to CoH on their main page! Its really quite funny, but I'll keep my eye on it to see how it developes.

You Blue's really have to start getting up earlier if you want to beat the Reds at this :-)
Nah, just teasing. It got first mention (I think) here on the Blue side as part of a discussion about Marvel Universe getting canceled.
Lots of nice links, mostly on the Red side though :-P
Can't integrate both games though. Champions is Cryptic's game, whereas CoX isn't anymore. They sold it to NCSoft remember.

yeah my point exactly. They took all the criticism everyone had about THIS game and addressed it in their new toy. I'm definitely going to give the beta a try if I can. It sounds very cool.

Ok, you have to be able to read MMOG Anouncement Marketing Speak to understand that this means mid to late 2010 since it's the earliest announcement so far. :-)
3 years development is really the minimum for a triple A (CoX is double A) title. They're gunning for Triple AAA so expect full cycle to be 4-5 years, if they're smart. Thing is we don't know exactly how long they've been at it. I'm pretty sure they weren't doing both Marvel and Champions at the same time and this is Marvel turned Champions.
