Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM's?

Hiya,

Lvl 29 Merc/Dark MM here. Bout to hit 30 and was wondering if the Leadership pool is a good idea for MM. Read some stuff on the boards, but was looking for more recent opinions on the subject. So, please fire away!

Thanks!

=)

RE: Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM\'s?

Heres some facts to help you choose whether or not to get it.

1.If you don't get the Leadership pool, Your MM will not be as good as he/she can.-Fact

2.If you get the Leadership Pool, your pets will do more damage and/or have more accuracy and/or have more defense.-Fact

3.If you don't get the Leadership Pool, you're MM's pets will turn against you and kill you for not supplying them with sufficient buffs.- Untested, Assumed to be fact.

Summary: Get the leadership pool

Just so you all know, other than Dragon Fang I'm also known as King of Robotics. Or Fluffy.
But, fair warning, if you call me the latter, I'll kill you.

One more

4.Maneuvers suck. You can leave it out if you want, the defense buff is below +3%. EDIT: Slightly debatable fact. but the percentage is true.

RE: Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM's?

This is my first post, and I'm relatively new, so take what I'm about to say for what it's worth. ;)

I'm a Thugs / FF mm, and I've been taking the time to level slowly and evaluate my power choices, enhancements, etc, as well as to earn some money via ouroboros while my friends catch up so I can keep my minions and powers set up with the most effective sets and bonuses I can manage.

I took my first leadership power around 20, and I'm extremely glad I did. While I can't speak for the other MM's, I know that with the thugs, the stacking leadership bonuses from myself and my Enforcers makes the minions extremely lethal.

I use Maneuvers and Assault, haven't bothered with Tactics, and have vengeance (I'd hoped it'd work on dead pets, but oh well... at least the effect works on them when a teammate dies!). Combined with my fully enhanced Dispersion Bubble, my two single-target force fields, and three maneuvers (myself + two enforcers), even my arsonist can stand toe-to-toe with elite bosses and survive... at least for a short while. Assault, combined with the bonuses from the Upgrade Equipment granted Assault the Enforcers have, make every minion a force to be reckoned with.

For me, accuracy isn't enough of an issue to warrant Tactics. The two tactics from Enforcers and the +25% boost to ToHit from Supremacy gives them a high enough accuracy that I couldn't justify the power slot. I can certainly see (thanks to my baby Ninja MM) how it would be valuable to others, though, and after a few forays into PvP, I may find myself respec'ing for it.

Anyway, my two cents... they're lifechanging. Get them asap and never look back. =P

Oops. I was showing my soft side there for a moment. That could be fatal. I am glad you corrected it before people might start having the wrong ideas about me.

RE: Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM's?

Meh, I havent taken leadership at all. As far as im concerned enough firepower does the job either which way (and it does :P )
That and a tactical use of caltrops and acid mortars and, in a few levels, tp foe and a trip mine. And Acid trap, when I get it later.
I guess it is useful, but tbh bots with FF generator and Protector bots dont really need more defence, their fairly accurate anyway, and do decent damage with the slots they got in em.
Just my 2 inf worth. Its just so hard to cram in all that you want.

RE: Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM\\\'s?

Personally I didn't need as I went with a different slant, my Necromancy/Dark went presence instead for 3x fears( + add in the additional fears from lich and dark servant).

-VERY- good lock down for all but the most stubborn foes and when I pop my Megalomaniac accolade even Romulus (ITF) trembles in fear at the mention of my name.

High damage mitigation, (can't hurt me or pets when they stand and tremble) and ugly in pvp.

CoX is cool because of the variety of different approaches you can find...

RE: Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM's?

Well, you can call me crazy, most likely becuase i am, but my MM did to not take the leadership powers, now it might have something to do with the fact that he went the FF route and that i filled up on pool power choices becuase i went to optimize his defense at around 55% s/l to 30% psio and tox w/o PFF, it is actually all about your approach to the game, if you tend to slot out your guys with Acc, as i do, it makes tactics rather moot, you have tar patch down every other mob riight? it makes assault rather small, maneveurs is well, here's a visual reference: OMG they're moving lazily to the left, i might miss, dang he has some maneveurs, in reality, it could help a lil, but not enough to make any difference, Vengence is only helpful for its defence boost really, but with the sheer abundance of ACC buffs available in the DM set its rather small, also ive found that leadership costs too much endurance when i dont see any difference at all in anything, i just find it not worth it, i tend to go with something such as medicine or something for IO sets, although its contested, if you have room its something to get, just watch your end if your runnin em

RE: Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM\\\'s?

I don't disagree that there are many approaches, but I don't find the abilities to be paltry or their effects diminuitive.

I maintain (currently) between 4 and 6 toggles at any given time, without Stamina, and I don't run out of endurance unless I spam force bolt and repulsion bomb (a tactic that is RARELY necessary). Maneuvers seems minimal, but then, from that perspective, so is the invention enhancement that offers an aura for 5% defense for all henchman in range of supremacy, and there's a reason it sells for several million and is NEVER for sale.

As far as assault goes, the damage increase is noticable. On my enforcers, it means 15 damage per tick instead of 12, and my bruiser does as much as 30 or more damage extra per attack (before fury is added into the equation). The bruiser is the cornerstone of my heavy-dps (especially against bosses), frequently landing blows of 230 or more (knockout blows exceeding 300 if he's been fighting for about 20 seconds). At this point, assault is adding about 45ish damage to his KO blow and 30ish to his other strikes. My enforcers attack in cones and AoE's, so if one given ability hits 8 ticks of 12 each base against 6 enemies, that's 72 dmg / tick total (576 damage overall, 96 dmg on each enemy). With assault, that's 8 ticks of 15 vs 6 enemies, which is 90 dmg / tick total, (720 damage overall, 120 dmg per enemy) Now, both enforcers are using these skills, and I generally keep them together or close to it, and on the same original target, so at any given time, assume they're hitting the same enemies in the same amounts. That's 1152 damage total between them with one attack vs 6 enemies w/o assault and 1440 damage total between them with one attack vs 6 enemies with assault.

For those of you who don't wanna backtrack and do the math, that means that with assault, each enemy takes an additional 14 damage per attack from each enforcer, and that the overall attack against 6 enemies dealt an additional 288 damage. Whether or not that's worthwhile to you is ultimately your decision, I s'pose, but when one knockout blow from my bruiser dealing 230 damage can 1-hit some minion-rank opponents, having my enforcers hitting 5 enemies,in addition to the bruiser's, and in a span of 5-6 seconds reducing them all to about 50% health simultaneously seems extremely worthwhile, especially when you consider that in the time it takes for the bruiser to approach and kill his next target, they'll have finished the rest of the group off with their next cone. And this is all before adding in the two thugs, who also each have a cone power, and the arsonist, who is almost exclusively AoE damage.

As far as Vengeance goes, the boost to all of its stats (Accuracy, Defense, Damage, I believe) is a flat 25%. With the assault up, that puts each enforcer's per-tick damage at 18.75, increasing the per-target damage to 150. On the 230 damage knockout blow, the adjusted damage is 287.5 (an improvement of 57.5). This skill has saved my ass countless times, especially against AV's and Heroes, once a group mate goes down. I've never seen any skill turn the tide in an overwhelming fight the way this one does.

Again, I'm NOT saying leadership is a must-have or that it's the only way to play. I'm just saying you shouldn't dismiss it, either.

~Bleak

Yep.

Except, for me, it is the only way to play. I never pick up Maneuvers myself, but the benefits garnered from Tactics and especially Assault are simply too great to go without.

Im not going to read any of the long post....frankly I am lazy but let me just say on my Thug/Dark MM I run Leadership pool...all but defense......I have Vengenance as well.....I dont do anything but heal, rez, and let me Leadership run...plus maybe stealth +group defense...cant remember the name.

So yeah I definitely suggest Leadership since it stacks.

RE: Leadership Pool, is it worth for MM's?

I adore Leadership...I find that ninjas are so keen on running in and getting into fights that they need every bit of help that they can get.

Combined with Shadow Fall, I have four toggles, all Invention'd up to the hilt so that the resistance and defence on my minions are both very noticeably better than by themselves, likewise for damage output.
