Hundred Blade or Dragon slash?

I'm not new to GW and im not new to Warrior's I just use Quivering Blade and my own build for it as well as my axe builds(Triple Chop)and I make my own builds myself.

I was wondering what warrior elite sword Skill should I get Dragon Slash or Hundred Blades?And if anyone has an opinion please show me a build so I can get some idea on a build based aorund one of those Elites.

My character name is Freyrr The Brave I get on around 3-4 so feel free to PM me(Gw PM)

I would use cripslash to be honest ;)
But if I need to pick wetween the 2 you just said, I'd def take 100 blades. Dragon Slash is only good if you combine it with "For Great Justice", wich has 45 sec recharge. In PvP this isn't so terrible, but in PvE (when you're rushing mobs) it's a bit over powered damage.
And because there are a lot of mobs in PvE, you can build up adren faster with 100 blades =]

I'd say something like this:
1. 100 Blades
2. Sever Artery
3. Gash
4. Silverwing Slash/Galrath Slash
5. Lions Comfort
6. Enraging Charge
7. I use Conjure Frost because my warrior wields an Icy Dragon Sword.
8. Something of a res

HB only works effectivly with splinter weapon.

Drop healing breeze. If u have GWEN, use "I am unstopable". Drop points in Healing and put in strength(=more armor penetration.)

don't take HB, use dragon slash. Hb only works good with some AoE dmg (Splinter weapon)

But, that doesn't mean you know how to play a war in PvP, because, that is very very different. And Blazings, are you stupid? Lion's> Heal sig? roflmao. Heal sig doesn't disable your other signets (rez) for 12 seconds. Not even worth it.

As I wrote in another thread asking for a Warrior build:

W/P
16 Swordsmanship (12+3+1)
13 Strength (12+1)
- Dragon Slash
- Brawling Headbutt
- Flail
- "Save Yourselves!"
- Enduring Harmony
- "For Great Justice!"
- Enraging Charge
- Resurrection skill

It's fairly simple to use; rush into mobs with Enraging Charge, so that you can initiate your skills immediately, thanks to the adrenaline gain. Maintain Flail during fights, and activate "For Great Justice!" in unison with Enduring Harmony for a lovely 30 second "FGJ!" This allows you to spam Dragon Slash, as the skill's adrenaline gain will allow it to instantly recharge itself. You can also use this mass of adrenaline to maintain "Save Yourselves!" on your party, for +100 armour. Brawling Headbutt's there for interrupting key skills, and also knocking down enemy monks.

This build, when used correctly, is one of, if not the best possible build for a PvE Warrior.

Not only can it dish out a crap-load of damage when smacking stuff with D-Slash and "FGJ!" is active, but it can also provide +100 armour to the rest of the party - infinitely!

More than 3 adrenaline attack skills is counter productive, and more than two energy attack skills is too much.

To make a decent warrior build:

Utility Skill (Offense)
Attack Skill {E}
Attack Skill
Attack Skill
IAS
Cancel Stance (rush)
Utility skill (Defense or Offense)
Res Sig

Your utility skill can be basically anything that you don't have to go all out into a line for. Usually in an attrib line that there's really only one or two skills that will help. For instance: To me, the Tactics line = "Watch Yourself!" and "Shields Up!". Because those are the skills from the tactics line that I'd consider putting in a defensive utility slot. In PvE, the defensive utility slot is where I'd put my cap sig, or something like "Vanguard Standard of Honor" Or something like Rending Touch. If I'm running a very adrenaline heavy build, I'll usually have "For Great Justice!" and swap out Rush for Enraging Charge.

My offensive utility skill is almost always Bulls Strike. The only exceptions are when I'm trying to cap two skills at once, or I'm fighting in an area with foes that cannot be KD'd. Bulls Strike allows you to KD whatever the heck you want, but it's one of those skills that actually requires someone competent to use it, so if you're like most "warriors" - don't take it and use something else, like mending. Other things I would consider in PvE in this slot would be a non-adrenaline offensive shout.

IAS's, (Increased Attack Speed) skills:

Flurry will make you do somewhere around an 8% damage increase. Frenzy will make you do a 50% damage increase. As an assassin flurry is fine because you basically do all the damage from skills and you lose somewhere around 2 damage a hit (I don't use flurry even on assassins because of this). But a warrior does ~2500 DPM on just an auto-attacking spree with a 33% IAS and no damage debuff. So the Flurry vs Frenzy thing is a big deal. In PvP, I'd never use flurry, and on every bar except a hammer war with Crushing Blow, I'd take frenzy over every thing (In which case Flail replaces Frenzy). But in PvE, most people think that a warrior is going to be tanking in some way. I've got news for someone I'm sure: Warriors make about the worst possible tanks. If rushing into a group, mobs target selection is based on lowest health and lowest armor. Warriors typically have highest of both, because PvE'rs use sup runes alot on casters (especially monks, which is dumb, but a different argument). So In PvE, I have max dwarf title, and alot of beer. So I run Drunken Master in some instances. But almost always frenzy everywhere else. You can always call for a prot spirit if your playing with people, or use it yourself if playing with heroes.

Cancel Stance. Assuming you're not using Drunken Master, you need a cancel stance for most of the IAS's (they all have some kind of drawback). Frenzy you may need to cancel because you're about to take 9000+ damage. Flail you might need to cancel because you killed the guy and need to be able to move again. Flurry you might need to cancel because you're bad and put it on your bar anyway. Rush is a nice cancel stance, because it's an adrenaline skill, which means as long as you're actually in combat it's basically going to be ready for you to use. No annoying 20s recharge like sprint or enraging.

Res sig. Warrior bars are prettymuch always compact enough to fit one of these on there. I honestly can't think of any exceptions. Take one. Or if you need a hard res, take Death Pact Signet (unless you're not a particularly amazing player and members of your party die alot).

Things to avoid: Self heals, they're all bad. Heal Sig would be an exception because it's only bad and not absolutely terrible. The only time I would recommend it is if you were a split warrior in a GvG, pre factions. Or were playing BYOB in a GvG. Anything that makes you overly defensive. More than one defense skill (IE: Shields Up!) is gimping your damage. If anyone ever asks you to tank, feel free to just run in and wait until they heal you. Or better yet, take deaths charge and get in faster. More to avoid: maintained enchantments, spells that cost more than 5 energy, spells that cost less than 5 energy, spells that cost 5 energy.

Things to ask someone else in the party to take: Ancestors Rage and Splinter Weapon, at a 10 Channeling breakpoint. It's basically better than an MM, and it is > PvE.

You always need to think of two things: How does this effect me? How does this effect the team?

As a warrior, you don't take much damage, you do alot. Capitalize on that fact and it helps your team. Gimp it by pretending to tank and you actually hurt your team alot.

Note: This is for PvE, but some of it still applies to PvP. Either way you need to be doing a ton of damage.

Which is hilarious to me for several reasons:

#1. You trash talked Blazings. Who already has the major opinion here that he cannot open his mouth without subtracting from the sum of all human knowledge.

#2. Blazings was right about enraging charge. Wrong about the rest, but he actually had one point which would help your build. The problem is, Blazings also proved he's bad at build selection by suggesting hundred blades as an elite. So basically, both of you are terrible at buildmaking for warriors. However as PvE is incredibly easy, you can get away with it easier.

This applies to you. Ignore the part about Paragons and Mesmers, you're backing your arguments up with zeal and not evidence, as well as thinking badly about those who disagree with you.

A much better Dragon Slash bar is something like this:

Note: While dragon slash is a reasonable elite in PvE, it sucks in PvP. The only reason people run it is because Euros think it makes them do pressure when they're playing adren spike. Americans run it in GvG's because they're just bad.

Up until the first period, this is good advice. After that, ignore everything.

My PvE builds:

Ebon Vanguard Battle Standard of Honor
Shields Up/Watch Yourself, depending on area and if HM or not.
Sunspear Rebirth Sig

Damage, plus EVBSoH. Which effects minions. Plus one of my heroes will always have splinter weapon and ancestors rage for me to spam on myself. Along with two copies of Aegis and 1 copy of Divine Healing is basically PvE on C+Space.

I run that when I use a ton of paragons. Also, you need a Kurzick Title for that.

The other ones I run are usually tailored to which hero type party I'm running.

I almost always take these henchies:

Fire Mage
Prot Monk
Illusion Mesmer
Paragon if there is one, if not take an earth ele or necro.

Unless I'm running heavy physicals, in which case I'd just take physical damage dealers and a prot monk.

People need to abuse Gimicks more in PvE. It makes it so easy.

EDIT: Hundred blades is just plain bad. Even in farming, triple chop is far superior AoE. And tripple chop is pretty bad. Please ignore anyone who says something about using hundred blades (even with splinter weapon).

D-Slash is most definately better than HB in PvE, the ability to pump out skills like "Save Yourselves!" and "Watch Yourself" is just too good for PvE. Who doesn't want almost +100 armor permanent? Whirlwind Attack is also nice to couple up with it ^_^

But really, you are just early on in the game, just try and experiment and see what fits you. GW is a very mathematical and logical game, so if you ever have any build problems try to imagine what sort of enemies you will be up against, what you want from your build, how you want it to be achieved, etc. Try to tailor your build around the area you are exploring, don't tailor an area around your build ^_^

Hehe may be hard to believe, but some of us like to leave a bit of a survival challenge in PvE :P

Anyways, i usually run the Generic Dragon Slash-For Great Justice!-Flail Build seems to work ok for me, cba to make one of my own atm

@ rogue, maby its not the best but it did it job fine for me. just 4 adren and quite alot of dmg. I have used it a long time.
Quited GW anyway so im not turning this into a discussion, I just don't think its that horrible myself.

It is now crip slash in PvP now not Dragon Slash but it still works.The build is more like this.

I believe it is best to use a healing sig as it doesn't disable your res sig.

Dragon Slash is terrible in PvP. I actually covered that in my post. However it's a reasonable skill in PvE, which is what my post was about. The build you posted also has a flaw, which is: no points invested in the element. Other than that it is a far superior bar for PvP.

Hey , i just wanted to add my comment here to help you :d

dont use hunder blades its completly crap compared with dragon slash! if you played during beta you would know this , cause in beta hunder blades wasent even an elite , it was made elite to not have it abused by illusionary weaponry mesmers.

and also i gotta say rogue knows his stuff and so does
B J W E R T, but if going for pve, which i assume you are since u even suggested hundred blades, id rather advice you to use this:

Enduring harmony
For grat justice
enraging charge
flail
dragon slash
"save yourselves"
brawling headbutt
steelfang slash , or if your team sucks u can swap for res sig or sunspear rebirth

(for dragon slash to work best have enough swordmanship so you get 5 adrenaline or u cant use it every hit for 30 / 45 seconds) use save urselves every other hit or so and try keeping monks or casters or whatever u feel like on the ground with dwaren headbutt tho :)

even tho its pretty much B J W E R T that wrote this first i just wanna second it :d it does comparable damage with ursans at rank 10 and it gets you through any vanquish pretty much. the save urselves is also good aggro control and constant +100 armor for ur team

even though i like hundred blades its not that useful and i have yet to find a place where it is more effective than dragon slash except for in solo builds
