We'll my guilds gotten a bit more involved in halls recently, held a few times. The build we use is one we all got on teambuilder to make, we were trying to shell out a new great frontliner. Then someone brings up the scythe RaO, but instead of a pet and rao we ran apply poison, lightning reflexes, and escape. The night we made them and got to halls they were nowhere but since we were on observer mode by about noon the next day when we got our run together 4/6 teams we played were running the EXACT build and that was irritating enough but then that night we came across a guild. In your face gaming [IYF] running our exact build to a T with the exception of 1 character(a blackout mes instead of our rit) which pissed us off so we called them out on it. Then they tried to claim the build as theirs because they were holding with it all that day...obviously people will take their side as they are all r8-10's compared to our r4-6's...along with this one of our guildees made an A/Rt caster sin with OoS and an attack chain that didnt look like it'd work at all, sync'd ra with him, watched the build and sure enough it works as good if not better than the SoJ and to top it off its got energy management that the soj lacks, he took it into hero battles and even hours later that night it was everywhere, from top 500 to n/a. This brought us to one logical conclusion...the game would be ALOT better if obs mode and wiki were removed...the game would revert back to when people had to sit down and make their own builds instead of "i need a build, lets see what the top 100 is running" for awhile i thought this was just the low ranked of pvp's and nothing big, but when we asked a few friends of ours in top 50 guilds to help us put a gvg build together and his response was "go to observer mode, find something you like and run that" i was baffled...why does everyone nowadays think they need to steal top 100 builds to be good instead of sitting down and making something of thier own

Removing OBS mode wont do much. Everyone was using the same IWAY build before OBS was released, so build wars and build copying wont die simply because OB mode and wiki are removed.
Most of the time, people build steal thinking its the build that will get them far - but its the skill (barring HA/RA/AB - gogogo) that will get them far.

What guild are you in? Would be funny to know you won whenever i see the tag.
On-Topic;
Can't stop it, Observer mode will not stop anything, a good build will always be copied, the only thing that you might get out of this is the compliment you did an astonishing job cause the community is crazy about it, that thought might be good to think about :P

Flattery. You guys made something and it worked so people copied it. Really though, they are not stealing. It may be bad sportsmanship but really. Have you ever copied a build? Everyone has put skills together that look familiar to other builds. I was running a build long time and found out someone made it before me. I had no clue. Though I don't claim builds as my own. I make some up and who ever wants them can have them.
Yeah it is bad that someone copied you and could not be original but if you think about it. That is how we have a lot of this tech we have now. Some company invents something and another company copies it with a tweak and bam hot seller. The second company gets the cake. It rarely pays to be original.

the guild's Summit Soldiers [SS] we won yesterday around 7 pm eastern i think, may have been earlier, and we'll prb be in halls around that time or later tonight

build stealing has gone on since the beginning of guildwars. observer mode has only made the process faster but the overall process is the same. person sees good build (fighting against it or in observer), person copies skills, person implements build. you have the right to be angry or flattered or a little of both at the same time but mimicking something that works is a primal in-grained behavior. these people are just mimicking a build that they find to be effective, if you are going to be angry at anything, be angry at human nature not these build thieves.
the best way for you to "combat" this problem is to perfect your build and become masters of it. then even if you face the exact same build, you will be able to beat it with ease. calling out each and every team you see with your build isnt going to work. if you do that, you are going to be calling out a lot of teams and not gaining anything. i know this is going to sound fatalistic but, you just have to find a way to live with it.

It's nothing new. I thought of it myself when that buff for Pious came out. No build is yours, everyone has thought of basically every idea you have come up with and has either trashed it or is in the meta now or you see every so often. unless a game just came out or a new nerf/buff but generally that is the case. Sometimes people come out with origonal builds and they won't be used as much as meta builds, so you don't see them. Then you think of it, and finally you see it and they "Copied you". Been there, its simply not what is happening.
