Well I'm having problems with my connection to GW lately. I usualy have around 60-100 ping, but at the time it shoots up to 1,000 every 5 minutes. Can you imagine a ranger interupting in TA with 1k ping? Well I can't (at least not properly).
I only have GW running, no download program or what every so I really don't know what I did wrong. Also got 8MB ADSL (cable, not wireless), so there should be no problem with that either.
At the moment I'm also unable to farm UW cus of the severe lagg and sometimes DC's, and since I need 13 more ecto for FoW gloves & boots this kinda annoys me =P
Does anyone of you have some tips/solutions that might get me a better connection?

P.S. It's not my PC since the FPS is around 60 and PC specs have nothing to do with ping in general.

You should call your ISP if possible, it could be there is currently maintenance in your area, meaning you DO have internet, but the bandwidth is decreased.
Also, if you have a router or modem, might be wise to turn it off overnight, after 2 years my router once froze randomly, i just left it off at night (it already got terribly slow sometimes no internet), and its working fine now.
Try that perhaps?

So something clogs up your connection every 5 minutes?
ISP is a suspect, but if you can set your watch to it then look a bit closer to home.
Got any software running that will 'phone home' every 5 minutes?
Options are:
- Mail client
- MSN / other Instant Messengers
- Reloading a webpage containing a youtube or other site's flas-video.
- P2P client
- iTunes
- Various viruses using your PC to send spam mail.
If not you, who else shares your Internet connection. Could they be causing this? Once you've canceled these out, go bug your ISP.
It might be worth it to grab the freeware version of Pingplotter to see where the problem is occurring. Since you can keep it running overnight if need be, you can make a pretty solid case.

- iTunes Yeah I use it to listen to music, but I used it before the lagg occured.

I also started to play a new game called Tribal Wars, wich you play through a site. I shut the site down, but it still didn't change a lot =(

I been having that same prob either laggy or dissconects me every mins even asking my ISP didn't help.

I get bad lag when the server are very very busy but apart from that all the lag is my end. Peak times (after work, Sat afternoon) I sometimes lose my connection all together...but that's what you get if you only pay £12 a month for 8meg ADSL!
Contention ratio is my problem...it's all about how many people are using your ISP's alloted space on your local exchange or something like that.

130k ping? Hmmm. Ping is measured in milliseconds so 1000 ping is one round-trip per second. 130K Ping implies one server update every 2 minutes.
I can see where that might be a bit of a bother in PvP and such :-)
Blazings PM'd me with a pingplot analysis which confirmed his connection effectively shutting down for a few seconds every now and then. Further investigations are pending after he's had his dinner no doubt.

Wow 130k is.. a lot O.o I think that's a bit overdone =P
Anyway, it appears I checked the wrong host. Need to find GW host, but I can't find the IP.

Ok I will just leave it running for a while and if needed, complain to the people that provide my ADSL? (In this case Orange bleeh booh!).
