If you actually have managed to find this semi-hidden forum section I would say you are doing pretty good :) There is no real handy how-to section but to compensate for that we have lots of members that are always eager to help out wherever they can. However, you have more change for replies on the actual COH-GameAmp or COV-GameAmp pages. This generic forum is mostly dead weight.
The teams are based on invite only. If you want to join somebody else's team the captain of that team should invite you. You could also create your own team (and become the captain). That way you are the one that can invite other GameAmp members to join. They will get an invitation via PM, and can then accept or reject the invitation.
The teams are basically equiavalents to SG's or Guilds. The nice part about it is that you will get a separate public and private forum where you can scheme your plans to rule the world (oops, you are an hero, not an villain, but the idea is the same). The not so nice part is that it is a limited otherwise, and getting all your SG members to sign on GameAmp is toughy (speaking from experience here).
One of the other spiffy things is the friendslist. That is an invite thing as well. And just to give you a feel of it I have sent you an invite :)
