Woot Level 50, now on to my WarShade.. 2 forms or 3

Ok, I just got my Emp/Rad Defender to 50 (screenshot did not work =( ) Now I know I want to make a WarShade. Should I focus on one of the dual forms (hum/squid) (hum/lobster) or can I focus on all three? I have been playing around with a Designer, but not really finding a good build (not asking for a build, just some ideas)

I know if I go triform they will be lower slotted, (the who jack of all trades master of none). Or is it all just a choice preference??

In my opinion on a warshade you should go triform, others would disagree. Slotting is definitely lean, but with IOs you can make up a lot of ground.

If you were to go with a human/nova build I would still pickup Dwarf form just so you can access Dwarf Mire. You wouldnt need to slot the form or its attacks beyond an acc and a recharge or two in mire. If you were to go the human/dwarf route, on the level up I would still grab Nova form to make it smoother, then dump it in a respec later.

My 36 Shade is a triform and I have played around with human only, hum/nova, and human/dwarf on the test server. So far the triform is the only one that really fit with me. Your mileage may vary.

RE: Woot Level 50, now on to my WarShade.. 2 forms or 3

my warshade is currently 23, but I would definatly recomend a triform warshade.

Though I am not a fan of the nova form as it's too squishy for my tastes, I would recommend it as a great way to get around the zones. The form also increases your endurance so it also allows you to recover a bit if your end is bottoming out.

I am a big fan of the dwarf form. It's a great form to get into when the battle starts getting nasty. it has a heal of sorts, and ive been able to get a 112% increase in my dwarfs damage output by using dwarf mire on a mob that a tank had herded. It definatly has it's uses.

While squishy I like Nova for both WS and PB. They do great damage which makes the fight go nice and quick. Just be sure to make friends with a good tanker.

RE: Woot Level 50, now on to my WarShade.. 2 forms or 3

one of the upper lvl strategies i've heard sounds extremely useful, however, i have not had a high enough ws to try this.

1. get a tank (or you in dwarf) to herd a med-sized group. around 7-10 enemies.

2. while in human, use the ecipse power, then the sunless mire power.

3. switch over to dwarf and use black dwarf mire.

4. go to squid, and blow through the groups

these will give you roughly triple the dmg, and capped resistance IN NOVA FORM. thats crazy, a squid with 30 second 2x build up and huge resists. this will work in human form too of course, but the nova will have more dmg to it.

RE: Woot Level 50, now on to my WarShade.. 2 forms or 3

I am currently playing a lvl32 WS that is 2 forms, human/nova. I wanted to have a strong ranged character with a descent variety of human powers. I find the secondary effect of the slow/recharge debuffs to be an effective means to keep enemies at a distance while in nova form, something the PB nova doesn't have. Nevertheless, the build still requires a good tanker with taunt to keep mobs off you.

The WS Tri-Form is a strong build due to the fact you have access to 2 mires. You can reach cap damage buff by using those 2 powers, and depending on the situation, blast away in nova, or pound away in dwarf.

Something you haven't mention, and something not many people has done, is an all human WS. It's a novel concept to me too, so I would guess that build would emphasize the controlling powers.

Sadly I am of no help w/ squid advice as I've never played one, but CONGRATS on the level 50 ding! And don't let the lack of a screenie get you down to much, that is a very hard to time shot.

RE: Woot Level 50, now on to my WarShade.. 2 forms or 3

First of all congratulations on your 50! Awesome job!

My experiences with both WS and PB don't go past level 25, but I tried out several options. The dwarf form only comes into play at a later stage. You start off with human and squid. And the human powers are not too exciting at low levels either. So I would stick to squid till level 22 (SO time), and only add slots to your squid powers. At level 22 (or around there) you could respec and introduce the other forms. I tried to not squid, but it just didn't work for me at the lower levels, and I abandoned the toon.

RE: Woot Level 50, now on to my WarShade.. 2 forms or 3

I have a level 36 warshade and 33 PB. For the two, the PB plays like a scrapper and the WS more like a defender. Both have blaster in their nova form and tank in the lobster form.

The WS is the far stronger of the two as far as I'm concerned. Given the double mire potential, the extremely strong hold/attack (gravity well), and the awesome after-battle recovery mechanism (stygian circle), Warshades are something to be reckoned with. They are a little more complex to play. If you're not used to the gameplay of controllers and defenders, you might not like it.

If you're a tanker/scrapper type of guy, you might find the PB to be very fun. Many of the attacks are melee range and very strong. There are also a variety of self heals and a "build up" power. IMO, PBs are much more likely to be able to get away without the nova form (though I would always take the dwarf).

Speaking of, I would never consider a WS without all three forms. Dwarf is necessary for defense and additional powers. Nova gives you flight which is great if you start to run out of end when TPing. Or if you're travelling with TP and get close, switching to nova (thus flight) is the best way to make it to the mission entrance or whatever especially if there are pipes, or buildings in the way.

Also, TP'ers typically take hover so that they don't fall out of the sky if they need to stop mid-travel and look around or think or whatever. Think of Nova as a hover power with a big bonus :)

Besides, someone already mentioned this, but the combos you can pull with a double mire and a nova are insane. I have a video of one such combo on my website (though I need to update it when I get eclipse).

I've been told my Kheldian guide is very helpful (though I'm sure it's sadly in need of update). Here's the link:

Well thank each of you for your input.

Started playing my WS this week, been soloing alot. but will have to admit the game had a sad sense of humor when one mission had the ending team consisting of:
1) Void Hunter
1) Madness Mage
1) Quantum Guardian

Needless to say I droped that mish. LOL

That is a sick sense of Dev humor! Also a big pain in the rump is when ambushes contain voids/quantums.

Hate and Fear the Voids. Hate and loathe the Boss Quantums even more. Its when you see a lvl 50 Kheldian two shotted in Rikti Warzone that you really understand the pain.
On to the topic, Im going with tri-form. I personally hate teleport (lag does not help the matter) so having fly in Nova is a huge bonus. It also lets you safely scud across a whole map, then teleport your friends across the field. Although I aint got Dwarf form yet, having played as a tank, I can testify that their tough. Always useful when things get rough, or when the tankers ultimate wears off.
