Solo Scrapper.

I know most scrappers are good at soloing, but i was wondering what would be the best to level quick. Me and my mate are trying to get to 50 relativlty quickly as we want to have fun on PBs and WSs. Im open to any suggestions for powers but spines. I just hate the look! :)

RE: Solo Scrapper.

I was told on my Broadsword/Willpower scrapper that once I get Heightened Senses, and I am not having an endurance problem, I should solo on one diff under Invincable.

It might depend on what type of scrapper you use, and what level, but thats what I was told.

RE: Solo Scrapper.

For Soloing, single target attacks are key, as it'll be rare that you have enough enemies to hit with an AoE so that the damage done will be worth the endurance used. That said, may I suggest Kat/SR.

At level 8, katana gets Divine Avalanche, a power that gives some serious melee/lethal defense. This stacks well with Focussed Fighting, the first toggle from SR, that gives melee defense. The key to the build is to get your foes to use only melee attacks. This means avoid baddies like the Council, that use only ranged attacks. I had a lot of fun with Circle of Thorns, because outside of their tohit debuffs, they only used melee and I had nearly capped melee defense at all times. Once I hit level 12 and had DOs for accuracy and end redux, I solo'd on rugged easily, because by getting enemies to use melee, they couldn't kill me. Once I hit 22 and got SOs for accuracy, defense, damage, end redux, I solo'd Invince. I have swift/health/stamina, hover/fly (never really use hover, but I didn't and still don't need air sup, so its the lesser of two evils for having fly for concept). Those are the only pool powers I have. I have all the autos, all the toggles, and Elude at lvl 40, and I can handle with success enemies up to +4 solo, higher if I have yellows and elude up. From my primary, I skipped Lotus Drops, as I don't need the AoE, and I skipped Flashing Steel, cuz I don't need the cone. I also skipped the taunt, cuz I'm a scrapper, not a tank.

Very good soloing build, especially once you get SOs. I can very easily keep my melee defense capped, but I have so much defense now that I don't really need to. =D

W.P.

PS: Don't rush to 50 just for Kheldians. They are a very difficult AT to play and understand. Take your time, play various ATs and builds, and you'll have a better understanding of what Khelds can and cannot do.

BS/Regen, no end issues, no down time waiting for rest to recharge, and one of the most survivable secondarys in the game. Grind PvP zone missions if you are trying to level as quick as you can.

Nine of the five voices in my head say I'm not insane. Majority rules!

Esh, 50 Merc/Dark MM
Onyx Slate, 50 Super Strength/Stone Brute
Endothermite, 50 Ice/Energy Blaster
Azure Barrage, 50 Empath/Electricity Defender
Tarvitz, 50 Spine/Regen Scrapper
Fatal Fealty, 50 Super Strength/Willpower Brute
Lord Tarvitz, 39 Broadsword/Reflexes Scrapper

RE: Solo Scrapper.

I think you'll find that most scrappers are great for solo. My preference is a dark/dark, but as you can see everyone has their favorites. The thing with scrappers is they are good at going through missions fairly fast and they are pretty survivable (not as much as a tanker though...don't make that mistake). Plan out your scrapper and make sure you don't neglect your secondary powers, which is easy since it's great to do damage.

Enjoy,

Randy

RE: Solo Scrapper.

Thanks Guys :) I know warren peace is a genius around here so i think i'll take his advice, Kat/SR. Im sure i can come up with my own build using W.P's advice but if he want to give me his build id be very happy ;).
Grinding PvP missions sounds good aswell, i dont know why but ive always been told they are good xp. :D

RE: Solo Scrapper.

one thing I would like to add is that a dark/wp build has really good mitigation, especially with air superiority or something with a knockdown. you can hold them in place, lower their accuracy, you get a self-heal, and theres a stamina power in willpower, AND a power sink-type power in dark melee. i know most people just want their scrappers to have only damage damage damage, but if theres no one around to help you, its nice to keep some at bay for a while.

RE: Solo Scrapper.

I gotta add that my BS/Regen Scrapper levelled extremely fast. Two really good heals, great hitpoint regeneration, and the best part was I was never held for very long at all. It was kinda weird having the tenebrous tentacles on me while I ran around smacking CoT punks around. The longest I was held was around 1 to 2 seconds. I think after lvl 40 I only got stunned or confused three or four times, and I recovered quickly and got my toggles back on right away. Also, there was only the one main toggle to have on... intergration. I loved it and even though I considered Darkest Medicine my main, this guy quickly passed him and hit 50 first. If you solo, you're pretty safe, if you team and have a emp...you should never fall as long as you watch your hitpoints. Like I said two really good heals and another that makes your HP come back faster. And with two good knockback powers, you can knock em down with headsplitter, get in an attack, they get up and then you knock them up in the air with Disembowel and get another attack. Took down many a purple Behemoth overlord without ever getting hit. Just my favorite scrapper.

RE: Solo Scrapper.

Just to jump back to the initial post here...

Don't rush to 50. Although it seems like that should be your goal, it isn't always the case. PBs and WSs aren't the "uber" classes they could be. They can be fun, but certainly not "all that". (Mez protection? What's that?)

That being said, my first 50 was also a Katana/Super Reflexes Scrapper. For some reason I just breezed through the Arachnos missions in the PvP zones, but this was also before the addition of the Police Scanner on the Hero side, so I didn't have repeatable content aside from the PvP Zone missions.

Personally, I would stick with the Police Scanner missions and grab Melee groups.

In Super Reflexes, unlike some of the other sets, don't overlook the Toggles. They help a great deal. Also, get Practiced Brawler ASAP. Slot it with 3 IO Recharges ASAP. Put it on Perm (Control Click) and forget about it. Never take it off Perm. :)

RE: Solo Scrapper.

I say MA/SR. I say its the best single target set of scrapper. Well at least the MA. SR I love greatly but others preach the greatness of Regen. I enjoyed every moment of my main MA/SR, and I looked damn good doing it as well. I honestly, brought sexy back, Im just saying.

With the SR set you can survive a lot of abuse by dodging it all together. Once, I was able to tank Clockwork King when we lost our tank middle of battle (sadly rez was recharging and it took a bit to get him back to full health). I stood in for about 45 seconds not even taking a scratch. Thanks SR, your my new hero.

Like I said though MA, single target destroyer. With the right enhancements and slotting you can stun your foe into submission. Plus the knockback effects are very helpful in case you get in trouble and need some space.

RE: Solo Scrapper.

i was thinking about DB/SR scrapper. i've tried both sets seperately, but im wondering if they would work well together, like isnt there a+def power in DB or is that katana? i dunno. has anyone tried this combo?

if you read all the replies in this post, you'll notice its katana and broad sword with the +def bonus, not DB

RE: Solo Scrapper.

Divine Avalanche can be put on auto, but I never did that because it'd inspire me to laziness. I just made it part of the attack chain, firing it whenever it was available. At 41, now, I'm considering slotting it for damage, as I don't really need the defense it offers and the extra damage would be nice.

On Practiced Brawler, if you take Quickness (Which you should, as it offers not just run speed, but resistance to slows and recharge debuffs on the order of 40%) two Recharge SOs in PB will make it permanent, even overlap for a couple of seconds. 3 Recharge would have it stacking for longer, and if you regularly face *alot* of heavy slows, may be needed to keep it on, but I have yet to find a situation that could debuff my recharge enough to affect PB with just two SO recharge and Quickness.

Another thing I must impress upon you with SR is Take the Auto Powers! They don't need to be slotted, because they offer very minimal defense on their own, but the reason to take them is that they offer scaling resistance to all but psi and toxic damage. This means that if you are getting hit, as you lose HP you gain resistance to help deal with what gets by your defense. I've survived a good many fights in the red zone simply because the attacks that did hit did so little damage that my inherent Regen rate with Health having 3 Heal SOs was enough to counter and keep me alive.

Also, they give you another place to put two enhancments each of LoTG (Doesn't have to be the +recharge, but its nice if it is). Two LotG gives 10% regen, a significant boost. Having 5 instances of that gives more regen than Health does at base values, and can put you in a very good position to deal with damage that gets by your defense and starts hittin your resistance. Just a suggestion, and a pricey one at that, but well worth it if you can afford it.

One other perk about Kat/SR is that its got capped melee defense for the majority of its career. Tsoo, Banished Pantheon, Circle of Thorns, and Warriors all drop magic salvage and can be tricked into using melee attacks. This gives you a very safe way to quickly stack up influence, by selling these arcane salvage drops on the Auction House for a very good return. My Kat/SR has 39 million influence, and has been in SG mode permanently since level 21. All my money has come from selling arcane salvage and good recipe drops on the auction house. =D

didnt they change it so you only lose a maximum of 50% infl when in sg mode now? or is that still to come?

RE: Solo Scrapper.

Im still going strong at lvl 14. Only problem is, when i do get hit, i get hit hard. But its not too bad if i have some greens and i can get my health back up. Im soloing on tenacious fairly easily so i might put it up to rugged at 16 (I dont have the skill of warren peace ;) )
Thanks :)
