GW2 Features, i would like
These are some changes that I would like to see in GW2. I’m not saying these will be in the game or I heard anything about them, they are just things I would like to see.
Home Cities:
I would like to be given the option of choosing a home city for your character and start at different points through out the map. The advantages would be receiving merchant discounts when buying and selling in your home city, and access to specific weapon and armor skins that can be crafted in your home city. (they would just look different)
World Map:
I would also like to see a lot more major cities on the map. In prophecies there are only like what 4 or 5? I would want more major cities. This would give players different choices for their “home cities.”
Also, I would like to do away with teleporting from city to city. I really like this feature and use it all the time, but I think if we eliminated this it would force players to work together. I would like to instead implement a transit system, like a train or something that could take you from major city to major city for free and instantly. (basically like the current system in place) So you could still go from ascalon to lion’s arch instantly, but you’d have to then run to fisherman’s haven. So it wouldn’t be THAT bad, it would just get players out and moving around a bit more.
Trade skills:
I’d like to see these implemented more as titles. I was thinking it would be Crafter title, and you would use to make customized weapons and shields for your character and heroes. It would work like the current system to unlock PvP skins for weapons. For example you craft 100 items as a level 1 to get to level 2. Someone with a level 1 title would be able to make just basically collector skinned weapons, a level 2 would be able to make long swords, etc. I was thinking a level 0-5 title, with each level costing more then the previous so level 1 might need 100 items at 1p a pop, level 2 need 200 at 2.5k level 3, you need 500 items crafted at 5k….etc. Eventually yes, you can make chaos axes and crystalline swords. They will be customized however, automatically so as not to flood the market.
Buy some Land!
I’d like to see you be able to own a house or something. I was thinking either you’d own an area in your home city that you could customize. Think of the Sunspear Sanctuary. Or maybe get an island, in the Battle Isles that would be customized like a guild hall. Things I’d like to see avail which you can buy or do quests to earn, would be a house (duh), an armory which you could use to display your stuff like HoM in EotN. A workshop which you would have to go in to work on your crafting title (see above) A storage chest that is SEPARATE from the Xulani ones., meaning you can only access it in your house, and you’d use it to store things you don’t need constant access to on all your characters (like spare mini pets or something) I’d like to see a Combat Training area too, I think I’d make it unlockable with faction only. And you can set up you and your group vs 4 opponents, which you would set up. Like the Zaishen trails, but you choose the enemies.
Racing Areas.
A new area. It’s simple. You race. The area is a big track, and you bring your best running build. You’d be able to bring weapons and everything, but you wouldn’t be able to attack the other racers. Instead there would be obstacles on the track or NPC’s on the side. The effects would be random, so you couldn’t prepare for them. You’d have to run through a pit of lava. That would stay the same, but then a bunch of archers would hit you, sometimes they’d cripple you, sometimes you’d get bleed or burning. Or run through a gauntlet of hexers. You’d have to keep yourself a live and be the first one too the end. (ive never done beetleracing so I apologize if this is what its like)
Let me know what you think! I have more idea but these are the ones I like the best!!

ok yeah i reckon you've got some pretty cool ideas.
Crafting i dont really agree with it would be just like runscape.
Land ownership would be fun although you can already do that in a guild hall but to have you own little palce you can go to would just be funny ( could have parties) lol
The map system i like it how it is but i do find myself running more just so i can get more items to sell etc.But in stead of a train its a mule cart or something or for some fun a mine cart
One thing i would like to see is the weapon and armour customisation in which you can put your own design on it (but without having to be a certain level)

Only 1 thing i want. Separate skills. PvP and PvE so people will STFU about which is better.

RE: GW2 Features, i would like
wow that sounds so awesome! o.O
but...what you are asking here is a combination of: Guild Wars-WoW-Fable-(maybe some other games)
i mean, basic of guild wars, traveling system of WoW (they have subways there, and flightpaths) and the buying house thing of Fable.
i know, it would be the most awesome game out there, the best online RPG that was ever made. But...is it possible? won't be the world too full with houses everywhere?
things i would like to see are not practical but I may as well.
pipe dreams
player created content.
The ability to have a server and maps and create monsters weapons things such as that.
pvp separated off from pve call them different names so people can buy one or the other.
The ability to map to any outpost when traveling between maps not have to funnel through liags arch or jewel of spam.
now things that might happen:
perhaps auction houses or traders that link up someone selling directly with some one buying. Like drop selling so if you get a gold its priced by the merch as reasonable.
a merchant you can carry in your pocket
a hair dresser/plastic surgeon
Not because I actually want but because it will make gaile's visits almost silent.
These are some changes that I would like to see in GW2. I’m not saying these will be in the game or I heard anything about them, they are just things I would like to see.

Home Cities? Like, you start in say... Ascalon... and you get, for evample, +15 damage against charr since you "grew up" around them?
World Map:
I would also like to see a lot more major cities on the map. In prophecies there are only like what 4 or 5? I would want more major cities. I REALLY like this idea, but I wanna change it some. Instead of being able to teleport to every single town on the map, why not make it so (new Lore starts here) the asurans made transporters in all the Major towns, and you do a quest that allows you to portal to one of these towns ever 15-20 minutes. However, they arent in smaller towns, so you ahev to walk there. I think this would get people out and about, could bring in various builds to get from A to B, opens up BETTER escort quests... actually, more quests in general; People could find rare spawns along the road (think an EQ type thing). This opens up a Plethora of options.

Meh.... I would hate spending all that money to make a crystalline if it was customized. Kick the customization requirement, and you have an awesome system.

Good and bad....
Good; People get some freedom to customize their on little areas.
Bad; If you can't sell houses, then if you get tired of it, your stuck. If you can sell, then there will be alooooot of Real world trading going on. Anyone remember Ultima online? they had this sytem, houses could go for thousands of dollars....

I dont care either way about this one.

Oh, oh! I have ideas!!
1) Implement a skill profiency system, kinda like WoW, but not so game changing. When you created your character, you would meet a trainer, he would teach you to use 2 kinds of weapons of your choice; Polearms, Daggers, Axes, Etc. You could return later to learn more of these skills, but it would take about 30 minutes to finish the training and then he would make you craft a weapon or something along those lines. Once your done, he owuld "challenge" you and you would have to beat him (he would be pretty easy to beat) and then your done, you learned a weapon skill. (good idea, bad idea?)
2) Items Creation! I cant tell you how many times a rez scroll saved my butt. Wouldnt it be cool to have more items like this that actually affect how the game plays? You could have potions, scrolls, orbs, stuff of that nature. You wouldnt uuse them much in the earlier parts of the game, but in High level areas, it would be pretty much mandatory to use em. (again, good or bad idea?)
3) Auction house (Everyone wants this)
4) A system where you can "save" Your character to a spot, and if/when (s)he dies, you spawn at that spot. This only happens if your solo'ing. (seems like it could cut down on travle time if you die)
5) Adjust Death penalty.... I dunno how, but anything would work.
6) Improve AI of Mobs, the current AI is that of a blue collar worker wielding a blender. Something needs to be done.
7) Make a Bigger map! Does anyone remember the first time the got to the desert, or the shieverpeaks and thought, "This is Massive!"? I did, And I wanna see more of those moments.
8) Revamped Class System. You start out as a neutral class (meaning you ahve no class) until you finish the tutorial (if you choose to do it that is). Once you ding level 3, you talk to one of the 4 Archetype trainers; Brawler, Scout, Mage, Priest.
At lvl 15, you can return to him for a quest to specialize in a Certain area.
Brawlers have;
Warrior (your straight up tanking class)
zealot (a hybrid type thing: Paladins are in here, and mebbe an anti-paladin type class [Dark knight is what I could call it])
Scouts have;
Fighter (a hand to hand class, would become a monk or Bard)
Stalker (would turn into an assassin or ranger)
Etc. With Mage an Priest
Then at 30, You specialize again, and Further Refine yourself. I think this would creat alot more diversity.
9) Dungeons! Not the sissy cookie cutter ones like what was released in GWEN; I am talking MASSIVE structures, Sorrow's Furnace types of dungeons. Stuff that brings out the primal glory of spending 3 hours in a dungeon, and at the very end, you get some ginormous weapon that made it worthwhile. If you did Sorrows furnace back in the day, you know what I am talking about.
Only 1 thing i want. Separate skills. PvP and PvE so people will STFU about which is better.
You mean something like same skills in both but different "copies" A pvp copy and a pve copy, or just different all togther, i think if they did seperate copys but same skills Nerfs today wouldn't have such an affect on the pve users today.

k so basicly take away a key feature of GW and make the game more like WoW having to run everywhere (which some people dont have time for) and "add a transit system, like a "train" to take you from major city to major city" ok so has this been done in a game beffor...oh yeah WOW!
in fact at 2 citys (i think) u can actuly tack a "train" from major city to major city

building up a specific type of proffeshion, agan something that WoW does >.>
and u even suggest doing it in the same fashion "Someone with a level 1 title would be able to make just basically collector skinned weapons, a level 2 would be able to make long swords, etc."
im sorry mate but there is a reaso i got GW over WoW, and simply to say if these changes where made and added to GW2, i would not buy it...end of.
On another note:

i like this idea, it sounds very interesting and if added would be 1 feature that would attract me to the game

RE: GW2 Features, i would like
@setron
i have never played WoW so sorry i don't know
but I'm actually basing these off idea already in GW.
The Lightbringer/SS title tracks and all the EtoN ones. You grind to get better skills, whats different is that my title track has no direct effect on performance, its just for show. It it actually effects gameplay less.
Also, with the running and train. I like it too and use it all the time. But I just get tired of magically teleporting around like crazy. Once i have a whole map unlocked, i kind of lose a feel for the area, and whats going on there. So i guess i could just do this one my own, but I don't think it would hurt gameplay so much as help it.
Only 1 thing i want. Separate skills. PvP and PvE so people will STFU about which is better.

Yea, but id expect somewhat of a similar nerf as the PvP 'copy' I wouldnt want another overbuffed PvE Skill :P
1. Armor drops - Say you kill a Charr, and he drops a chunk or armor. You could take that armor to an armorer and he could customize (fit) the armor piece to your character. Or maybe only bosses would drop special armors. In any case, adding a "scavenger" element to building armor might be fun (and could create a whole new market for rare armors).
2. Sailing - I think it would be cool if you could actually ride a ship out of Lion's Arch or any port city, and have sea-going adventures. Pirate-boarding and attacks by sea serpents could be elements. Perhaps you could team up on the boat, so one person steers, while others could use ranged attacks, or man shipboard weapons like harpoons or something. I haven't played PotBS, but I've wanted some kind of sea adventure element for a long time.
3. House - Yeah, I'll go along with that, but I'd link it to an exit off of the Guild Hall, and whomever is the party leader, the party goes to his/her house. Add a pet stable as well, where you could swap available pets, which brings me to...
4. Inherent pet skills - It would be interesting if pets had species specific skills and advantages/disadvantages. Kind of like how Ursan/Volfen/Raven blessings each have different stats, maybe a Bear could be very powerful, but slower to attack, while a wolf would be much faster, but not do so much damage, while a Raven could inflict bleeding and a little damage and be invulnerable to knockdown, but have a lower health level. Those are just examples, but in general making pets have more obvious pluses and minuses would be neat.
Hmm, there's other stuff, but that's all I can think of for now.
One of the few things i would change would be a more diverse music selection. Now there is 1 or 2 songs for each place and you hear it over and over. I wish it was more diverse.
Damn right! Guild Wars should feature full on WARS. Hundred - even THOUSANDS of players in one area fighting for conquest of a certain area or the like.
