Just a question about my SS/WP brute. He is level 32 now, and I'm starting to think about what IO sets to get. Despite two years of gameplay, I have never created an IO enhancement other than the one in the tutorial. I have about 12 million infamy saved up. I know that this isn't enough for all my powers (by far) but I think it's enough just to get started.
Here are my powers so far:

Haymaker

High Pain Tolerance
Mind Over Body
Fast Healing
Indomitable Will
Rise to the Challenge

Leaping:

Hello Splitbarb. Welcome to GameAmp! I have passed the three years mark and I still don't use IO sets, so no worries. Of course this means I probably don't have all the advice you are looking for.
Starting around level 35 the effect of IO's is getting better than SO's. So you are at the perfect time to get into it. Personally at level 32 I start creating a whole bunch of regular invention IO's. With the 12 million infamy you have you can easily convert all your SO's to IO's. One or two million is probably already enough. And since you don't ever need to spent money on enhancements anymore this is not a bad deal.
My personal issue with IO sets is my own stubbornness. My toon ought to be powerful enough to make it all the way to 50 without having to chase for salvage or spent millions upon millions for it. And indeed you don't need those sets. They are great if you want to have the uber toon, but you can still kill any AV or Hero without it.

Usually when I start my IOs I make Endurance Reductions,Endurance Recoverys, Healing, Recharges. This way I can get a boost on some of the areas that are the biggest problems, and not have to spend millions at a time. After I get those settled I work in the Accuracys,Damage,Defense,Damage Resistance.. stuff like that.
It has worked for me, may not be the best way for everyone though.

Honestly, in all my toons, only one has any IO sets and it's a full (if lower lvl) Sting of the Manticore on Zapp. I'm not going to spend money on IO sets until I'm 100% sure that it's a toon that I'm going to keep exactly as it is and use often (i.e. raiding, farming, general grouping). Anything else, at this point, is just a waste of my inf.

Thanks for the input guys! I think I will get some normal IOs for all of my powers, and then maybe a full set on one or two of my powers.
