Just a little ele build type question 

Ive been dinking around with GW for a little while now, u know get the feel of the game. Now i want to make a character for serious, take beginning to end ..., so would a Ele/Necro be a good choice? I mean it doesnt matter, im going to try it, lol, but any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

From my homework, i think i want to go Energy Storage, Blood Magic, Earth.

My train of thought is blood magic may, (a big MAY, i dont know yet) be sufficient enough for self healing and damage, energy storage for energy, and earth to fill in any blanks, damage armor and the likes.

If you have any ideas using different skills but in the same professions, please share a little bit.

well to put it simple... try to stick with ur primary
if u need damage use lightning (single target) or fire (aoe)
ur self heal normally comes from Energy storage cuz as an ele u have a lot of high energy skills which makes Aura of Restortion a good enough heal which the monk can take on the rest
water to me is a nice snare (but in pve u rarely need this i find)
Earth is more of a armor type thing so if u ever decided u need to tank here is ur thing
so the ele has most of those that u want alrdy but it has to focus more which adds a better character in the end
so rather then a e/n perhaps a e/mo just for the reusable rez which can come in handy

As far as self heals are concerned you don't need them in the majority of the game except they very beginning at times if you really need one aura of restoration (energy storage) should be enough. When it comes to which elemental attribute you have to take into acount what the area calls for, keep in mind you can change attributes at any outpost.

If you need single target damage with some utility, such as blind and knock down go dominantly air.

For AoE (area of effect) dammage you want fire but keep in mind it has very little utility except for the occasional knock downs from meteor shower and meteor.

Earth provides some party defense in the form of wards(the self buff enchantments are largely useless in general team play) as well as some AoE and single target spells neither of which stronger generally than fire or air. Earth also has minor utility but in skills such as eruption and grasping earth but other attributes often accomplish this better. Its also the most popular attribute of many solo farming builds (dont worry about this until later in the game).

Water is mainly used for its snares not often needed throughout most of pve but can add a lot of utility to a pvp team.

Keep in mind your not bound to one attribute many elementalists cross between their main attribute and earth for the wards, or into the ritualists channeling for the skills splinter weapon and ancestors rage, or protection prayers for aegis and other protection spells depending on the rest of the team.

When selecting an elemental attribute keep in mind whats in the area your going for and what your team is composed of so dont disregard earth if it will help balance out your teams offense and defense.

When selecting a secondary proffesion most elementalists choose either ritualist or monk for the above reasons and for a resurrection spell superior to res sig. However using other secondary professions that can utilize the elementalists high energy can be a good idea if you need to fill in the holes of your team such as going nec or mesmer for enchant removal, or going mes for interrupts, etc.

It gets more complicated than that and there are many exceptions but thats the overall idea behind constructing an elementlist and choosing your play style.

This won't be a real ele imo, ofcourse the energy storage is good but an ele must not be defensive. You want the Healing from Blood magic but take some fire skills for AoE + aura of restoration and you get some health, for the rest of the health you loose you have monks :P
Earth for armor is good but only when you want to farm stuff, as said before don't get defensive when playing an ele.
Ele=Damage(when not farming)

Thats not true at all in many areas a fire ele crossing into earth or air for wards or b flash/gale is a good strategy as well as not needing to sacrifice much offense to do so.
