Ok, I've just been wondering, what is the difference between the PS2 and PS3? Is there really much difference? And, if there is, should I look at getting the 40 or 80gb one? Thanks for the help.

PS3 is the newest Playstation on the market. It is a massive upgrade from the PS2. It can do everything the PS2 can but can also play Blueray Movies. If you are wondering which one to buy. Get the PS3. It costs more but it is worth it. Even if you are just going to use it for the blueray movies.

Only some versions don't. The cheap ones can't, the expensive ones can. IMO if you are a fan of the games made on it, get it.

I don't mean to be mean but the PS2 and PS3 are on like completely different levels of gaming generations and theres no point to live in the past and get a PS2(its only been out for 7 years now).
Get a 80GB PS3 if you have the 600 dollars, it plays PS2 games and BluRay Discs.
If you don't have the money for it then dig at your local stores and get a Wii (worth the price).

City of Heroes
Super Turtle-
Level 50 Katana/Super Reflexes Scrapper
Johnny Freeze-
Level 28 Ice/Super Strength Tanker
Soul of Turtle-
Level 22 Peacebringer
City of Villains
Johnny 3 Tears-
Level 50 Thugs/Force Fields Mastermind
Tommy 6 Tears-
Level 12 Electric/Invul Brute
Johnny Arachnos
Level 15 Arachnos Soldier

I believe it's the 40 gig ps3 that lost all compatibility and the others have glitches here and there. I have no problem playing at my friends when I bring my ps1/ps2 games over.

Thought they dropped the price?
Anyway, yes, PS2 and PS3 cannot compare to each other as there's a ~8 year difference in hardware and software. Although the PS3 wasted its time with BluRay(Not replacing DVD too soon...not yet), it's a more powerful machine than the PS2 easily. The only reason to get a PS2 is to be a console whore who has to have all the consoles from atari 2600 to the 360...
...I wish I was that whore t.t

Another big difference is the games made recently are no longer for the PS2 console. You would want to get the PS3 so you can play some CoD4, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 on the way, God of War 3, GTA 4, etc. Those won't be on the PS2.

1. Better Graphics.
2. Think of it like buying more ram, a better video card and a faster processor for your PC. Why would you do that?
For better graphics and faster speed...

simply the main reason to get a ps3 is for the games and for its online.
thats the main dif is ps3 has a decent online. but if its online xbox is best.
anyway it has better graphics and has blueray. i myslef cant see how much dif bluray makes. i seen stuff with it. wasnt impressed much.
and i say go for the 40g its cheaper and unless you go stupid and download loads of stuff you wont run out of space for ages.
if it does and all youve done is save games to it then wait till sometin bigger than teh 80g comes out. cuz if save games mess it up then it shows sony cant make saves properly.
i have a 360 and i still have more than 10g and thats with a ton of saves there. so ya shouldnt run out.

And whys that? How many returns has the Ps3 had? Hardly any compared to the 360. Microsoft is the crap in Console Wars.
I do believe theyve dropped the price by $100. It is definitely worth it.
Xbox Online isnt the best...all it is,is an Xfire for Xbox. I dont like paying fees for an internet i already pay monthly for. Xbox Live is what i already have on my PC. an Instant Messenger.

Ok, thanks but I guess I wasn't all that clear. I already have a PS2 and was wondering if i should spend the money for a PS3. And if so, what size? I'm thinking if I get it I might as well get the 80gb. But still, thanks for everyone's help.

I actually recommend getting a PS2 IF you're budget's low. 600 bucks for a console is an insane rip off, I cried blood even when PS2 was brand new and I bought it. Not to mention the prices they want for the games, eew. :S
The graphichs aren't the most up to date, but ps2 has some great games, for example Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty / Snake Eater, or if you're into ninjaaaaaaaaaaaaas (!), Tenchu's always a good choice. :P
But if you got tons of cash to spare, invest it in a gaming computer, not a console. :S

I would definatly get a ps3.
I got mine for christmas and deffinatly haven't regretted it! It has some great games out (DMC 4, guitar hero 3, rachet and clank dools of destruction, dynasty warriors 6... to name a few ^^) they also have some great games coming out... like GT5 prologue, GTA4, metal gear solid 4.
About the size... tbh i think you should get the 40g! If u have a ps2, back compatability isnt really an issue. Only get the 80g if ur planning on using it for more than playing games, i.e downloading stuff.
Game files hardly take up any space at all and it really isnt worth chucking an extra £100 or so if your only going to use it for gaming.

before going in feet first i would urge you to look into an xbox 360 1st, the "gamerscore" although a novelty adds extra life into games you never thought youd be interested in, my mates got a ps3 and all the so called "good" games and i wasnt impressed at all. a ps3 in my opinion is just a ps2 with a hard drive and better graphics + blu-ray support.
oh and the only game i felt like staying on was Ninja Gaiden Sigma which is; guess what - an updated version of the origional xbox (not 360) game. 360 owners get a full sequel :P
A hole was found in the door leading to the womens changing room, police are looking into it.
