| Gaile Farewell Weekend Event... |

Seeing as how Gaile is moving on to a new position, Anet will host a weekend farewell party in her honor this coming weekend. What this means for the rest of us is party drops!

| QUOTE | In recognition of her many years of devoted service to Guild Wars and the Guild Wars community, we'd like to extend an open invitation to all of our fans to join us in a farewell party for our community relations manager, Gaile Gray.
This very special event begins at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Friday, April 4, 2008 and will run all weekend, ending at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Monday, April 7, 2008. Starting on Saturday, April 5, The Frog's personal friend, The Rabbit, will host a series of final extravaganzas so big they span the better part of three days.
As they have touched the lives of Tyrians, Canthans, and Elonians alike, Gaile and The Frog will be honored across the world in the cities of Lion's Arch, Shing Jea Monastery, and Kamadan.
Celebration Events
Join The Rabbit, The Frog, and many of their woodland friends as they gather together to host the largest farewell party in Tyrian history! To prepare for the send-off, you will want to collect festive items you can bring to the party.
* If you're low on party supplies, you might want to scour the countryside for special, explosive rewards that will drop from the creatures you defeat.
* The creatures assembling for the event have also brought a variety of special treats they will trade for trophies from their homelands.
After all, what's a party without drinks, snacks, and fireworks? |

Bleh why do they have to drop fireworks =( I prefer 4 Leaf Clovers and Candycanes to remove DP =D
But yeah.. interesting how this could work out. Gaile.. a frog.. and a bunny =.=

Why does she get an event for this? All she did was say "I dont know Ill ask", take peoples stuff and get chased around cities. She hasnt even left the company...

I've met gaile ingame and she likes having fun on Gaile Gray(her GM account), but she does give her feedback and passes on Idea's on her wiki userpage

Possibly the '08 april fools joke? I never could get straight answers from the higher ups. Anyway that sucks if its true, now who will me and Kanna stalk when we want info or answers to questions about the game?

Kinda not the right place to say stuff like that...
She has been our link with the dev. for a few years now.
She has done alot for ous (the gamers). Not only talking with the dev's but also helping (and just plain having fun).
Gonna be a loss if this is true.

I kind of doubt that this is the April Fools joke, for a couple reasons:
1. Its not April 1st yet, and the weekend will be after it anyway. True this isn't a binding requirement for a joke, but it still gives me pause.
2. It'd be a pretty lame joke, as most people who play GW don't even know who she is, or why her leaving would be a big deal. Compare that with last years gender-swap, which impacted (hilariously) everyone in the game.
3. In recent chats, Andrew Patrick (and one or two others, I think)has been taking more of a role, which lends credence to some kind of "passing of the torch."
I dunno, but it seems like a lot of lead-up for a joke that only a select group of GW players would appreciate (namely, those who know about her). However, I acknowledge it could very well be a prank, I just doubt it myself.
Personally, I'm hoping for either another gender-swap day (I lost my screens from last year), or something similar, like we all turn into Charr or Tengu or something.

*sigh...so, so true. Ill be at a party this weekend anyways, not like its a big deal. Some people dont worship her like most of the GW community does. Me, im one of em who doesnt. Whether its a joke or not, i could really care less.

You know i may be wrong also... but yesterday she was on and she didn't sound or (seem?) to be sad or upset about "leaving" and she continued to talk about how she wanted stuff for the game and mentioned on her titles on her character, i don't think shes leaving at all.

i would think this was a joke, except for the fact that it has been mentioned previously (perhaps by the frog?) that people should consider saving their party animal points because there might be some sort of twist coming up. this party could be that twist? possibly
edit: when would monsters start dropping items?

The message on the main page of GuildWars.com says that she's assuming a new roll at ArenaNet, not that she's leaving.

Dunno about that. I'm sure her characters will always be set to DnD, in any case, should they show up. Course, she has her own separate account so she can actually play just like the rest of us.
