If your thinking of being a MM ... I got some pointless advice

just like to say, i was chilling out with a Necro MM and ... WOW!!! that lich is hella badass, compared to my commando. My commando looks like he should be serving french fries from a drive threw window, next to the lich. For about 2 hours i was debating of making a necro MM, but maybe after the patch, after the epics. regardless i'm rambling.

But we all know if things were different they wouldn't be the same. Lets face it, those zombies are dumber than stoned teens at a 7-11 at 12:30 on a tuesday night.

Point to this ... Yes. Did i really search around the site before i wrote this ... No. Regardless i would like to recommend/ help write a sudo guide, that only has pictures of henchman with and without there upgrades, and general advice about each henchman, and overall Primary.

What i would like back from the MM community is, either:
A: You idiot it's been done, search function at the top.
B: Dumb idea, we got forums for this reason.
C: Can't wait. I also saw my Commando next to a Lich.
D: Fantastic, i'd like to help.

If you answered D, PM me and maybe we can start collaborating on this, Cus nobody should create a Mercs, without seeing that Lich.

Wow, when I play as my friend's necro MM, all of the other tier 3 pets seem WAY better than the lich.

lol, i do oh so love the lich personally, him and the bot from robo but a lich combined with the dark miasma secondary is a scary sight my friend, the thing is it is meant to compliment the set adding in a bit of controllish where as other tier 3 pets seem to be a tanker for the team

alllssso i might be able to cover the necro part of the MM upgrades if neeeded :)

I like my bots fine thank you very much. A lot less stench when they cease to function.

As for the guide, I think it's a great idea! I'd love to help, but I've not played CoX in...years? My, has it really been that long? :(

No, no not really. Just trying on the old posting shoes on for size.

Then again...this could be an omen. An omen of impending death to many a... many a... Crap! Been away so long I forgot the name of a something to impend death upon. :*(

Oh and yes Phe, groveling is good too. Though, I've never had much luck with minions that have flesh and bleed red...they keep dying on me. Muah ha ha ha!! *sigh* That felt good. :)

You can call me crazy, but I actually like the Bruiser from the thugs set the most. The reason is that i feel like my other pets already do enough burst damage, while the bruiser acts like a tank.

From what i remember when I played the game, the bruiser almost always had aggro, and i rarely had to heal him.

the two punks did ok burst damage, but nothing special.

the arsonist did great damage with ignite, but they would often run away if i didn't have aggro/tar pit/caltrops up.

and finally, the enforcers did more than their fair share of damage, and it seemed like they were ALWAYS shooting.

So, I would seriously recommend a Thugs/Dark Miasma MM to anyone who would try it out. With the heal (I forgot what it was called) six slotted, from level 30 and up i could full heal all of my pets, and because all of them are ranged except for the bruiser, they they would all be right next to me anyway [/I]

seeing as how this is a nice bonding thread, what i would want is maybe 3-5 people from each primary to give me there opinion on:
Tier 1 hench
Tier 2 hench
Tier 3 Hench
the Dmg, intelligence (ie: is your medic always in melee ???) usefulness, personal note (ie: tips, praise, hate, strats), don't forget slotting, you don't necessarly have to go super crazy with it, basic is fine too, DMG x3 ACCx3. if you wanna do IO's ... it's your time

And most important, How well does the set work with eachother, Does it have good Synergy, is it energy damage, Dots. Feel Free also to comment on what secondary you feel compliments it the best, with a few sentences, don't break down the secondary, that's not what this is about.

As well as give me your thoughts on the First and Second Upgrade (please use correct names).

Please be at least lvl 35+ so you can fully comment on all aspects.

I'll do an example for people to run on.

Tier 2 Mercenary - Spec Ops
These bad boys are the utility belt of the mercenary primary. There damage is decent, seems about twice that of a Soldier.
There abilities make them really shine, Web Grenade (for those who don't have traps :P), Tear Gas, Flash bang. You got an immobile, disorent, a hold. They get a sniper shot as well as a rifle butt disorient attack.
For the most part they will always start off with a web grenade, and flash bang, and then stay at range and start firing. but they wouldn't be AI if they didn't run right up to a Melee AV and get one shotted every once and awhile.
Slotting Always go for ~100%dmg, Accuracy for taste (depending on leadership), Then go Disorient or Immobile depending on which one benefits you more.
Overall great tier 2 Henchman, Leveling really speeds up at level 12, and makes you wanna go into bloody bay so you can chill with two of 'em. Just remeber, the damage may seem low at first, there almost all DoT's so Dmg enhancements don't look like they do much at first, just wait some levels.

I'ld like to sign up for the necro slot on there somehow, i might have to break out the necro MM and play him for a bit now but i can offer some opinions as it is

Tier 1 Zombies
These guys are your lifes blood, they hold your aggro aswell as debuff their targets acc as well as siphon life, they tend to like melee alot as they are trained at Enchant Undead they receive like a mouth aura of like green gas and for Dark Empowerment they receive some dark miasma like glowing arms

Zombie Horde
Enchant Undead: Projectile Vomit, Zombie Vomit
Dark Empowerment: Siphon Life

Tier 2 Grave Knights
These guys are basically your damage output, they have Broadsword attacks aswell as Dark attacks, gloom along with their heal, they do have a chance to crit with head splitter? and have higher health then Zombies. They get shoulder spikes with Enchant Undead then get Helmets and Glowing eyes with Empower Undead
Grave Knight
Enchant Undead: Disembowel, Gloom
Dark Empowerment: Head Splitter, Siphon Life

Ild say that the zombies mesh best with dark miasma (lol) somewhat decently with forcefields and decently with poison, very potent set and very effective

Okay Here goes...

This is all from the prospective of Necro/Dark miasma.
My suggestion is have either Twilight grasp set up as an auto-fire power or acquire Aid other to spot heal whatever shortfall Twilight grasp may have missed. Never underestimate the good an auto-heal & -to hit make on your target of choice.

Tier one pet: Zombie Horde

Pre-upgrade zombies are good at rushing in and holding aggro.

Enchant Undead:
Visual Change:Green Gas from mouth

Powers added:
Projectile Vomit:(Damage over time (Toxic))
Zombie Vomit (very short rng AoE, DoT (Toxic))

With this upgrade Zombies tactics change, only one tends to close to melee range, although he does tend to hold aggro as long as his health lasts, at which point a second zombie will move up to melee. If Bodyguard mode isn't critical order all to (goto defensive) a spot close to target of choice. Followed by (attack defensive) on target of choice.

Dark Empowerment:
Visual Change:Red aura on hands

Powers added:
Siphon Life (Melee Minor Negative,Self-Heal,-To Hit)

With this upgrade no tactics change required but a marginal improvement in Zombie survivability.

Teir Two pet: Grave Knight

Pre-upgrade powers:
Hack (Melee Moderate Lethal, -Defense)
Slash (Melee Moderate Lethal, -Defense)
Dark Blast (Rngd. Moderate Negative,-To Hit)

Grave Knights AI remains unchanged by upgrades, generally they tend to attack at rng with Dark blast (& gloom when acquired) unless in melee range where they tend to do considerably more damage. Again if Bodyguard mode not essential send them in with the zombies.

Enchant Undead:
Visual Change: Spiked shoulder pads, red shirt, steel tassels from skirt & Crappy rusted sword becomes IMHO coolest sword graphic in game. Two intertwined blades.

Powers added:
Disembowel (Melee Heavy Lethal, Knockup, -Defense)
Gloom (Rngd Heavy Negative DoT, -To Hit)

Dark Empowerment:
Visual Change: Horned helmet, gauntlets, boots, red aura on eyes, and the coolest sword in game gets cooler (it glows!)

Powers added:
Head Splitter(Melee Extreme/Cone,Lethal,Knockdown,-Defense)
Siphon Life (Melee Minor Negative,Self Heal)

Tier Three pet: Lich
Pre-upgrade powers:
Dark Blast (Ranged Moderate Negative, -To Hit)
Torrent(Rngd Minor Negative Cone,Knock back,-To Hit)

Lich AI does exactly what it needs to at all levels of upgrade, he stays at range and unload damage & status effecting attacks.

Enchant Undead:
Visual Change: Tattered shoulder pads,bony texture on hands, black belt

Powers added:
Tenebrous Tentacles(Rngd Minor Neg/Smash Cone,Immob.,-ToHit)
Life Drain (Ranged Moderate Negative, Self Heal,-To Hit)

Dark Empowerment:
Visual Change: Gauntlets,shoulder ornaments,red aura(eyes)

Powers added:
Fearsome Stare (Rngd Fear,-To Hit)
Petrifying Gaze (Rngd Hold)

Hehe, You caught me as I began to gather my notes for a Necro/Dark Miasma guide... hope this helps may still finish this guide if it was useful. The guide was to include slotting tactic's etc... but i hadn't gotten that far.
