Well, this will probably be a lengthy post, but here goes:
I was/am extremely bored today, and I had a lot of time to think of several things that I think would add to the game.
First off, there are two ATs that I was thinking about.
The first AT is the Commander. This would be like a MM, but much more offense based. It would be a low hit-points character, but would have a high offense. It's powersets would generally be Henchmen/Offense, getting rid of the standard MM attacks in favor of powers with supportive roles. So, an example would be Necro/Dark blast or Mercenary/Assault Rifle. Maybe a Robots/Energy or a Ninja/Bow and Arrow.
The second would be the sniper, which would be another Low hitpoint/high damage character. The sniper's powersets would consist of Ranged Offense/Defense, with a stealth power in the defensive set. You could have interesting combinations like Bow mastery/Ninjutsu, Assault Rife/Regeneration, Energy Blast/Energy Aura, and so on.
My next idea is a prestige power of sorts, but I don't know how it could be achieved, maybe bought for a LARGE amount of infamy, or maybe won after a long SF/TF. What if you could have vehicles? Maybe an airplane or a helicopter that flies at 3/4s of the standard fly speed, or a motorcycle/car/jeep that flies at 3/4s standard SS speed? Just think about how BA it would be to roll into a mission with your own car?
Then what if there was a vigilante system? I mean where your character could be neither Hero or Villain, but constantly had to make the decision over which one to chose.
Or what if there was a system that let you team up with different organizations, and gaining favor with them changed the way that the faction's NPCs treated you? Say you befriend the Circle of Thorns, so whenever you see a group of CoT minions, they greet you instead of attacking you? What if there was a PvP zone, where instead of teaming up by Hero vs. Villain, you teamed up according to your chosen faction?
Or what if they revamped the APP/PPP system? I mean seriously, they are currently pretty lame. What if my Scrapper didn't want blaster powers for his APP, but wanted MM powers instead? Or what if my troller doesn't want blaster powers, but wants powers from another defender secondary? I don't think that this would be too overpowering if done correctly, but it would certainly add a huge level of customization to the game.
Or what about an Arch-villain system? Or maybe what about a sidekick system? We all know how impossible it is to solo as an Emp Defender or a Healing corrupter, what if you could pick up a Brute or a Tanker as your sidekick?
Or maybe you have an evil Robot type character, you could make your enemy his creator, who has teamed up with longbow to take you down, how could would that be?
And I know that this has been said already, but what if you could customize your henchmen? What if you controlled demon ninjas, evil cyborgs, mercenaries equipped in your image, thugs from a certain gang/part of the world, mummies, or anything like that instead of your ordinary pet?
I don't know, these are just ideas. Feel free to share your opinions on them or to add your own.

First off you wont find many people who would oppose these ideas but i would like to point out the sheer amount of time and energy it would take to redo and code CoX for such a system, we're villains and we're finally getting our epic AT's i think theyve done a nice job and asking for so much right after a nice expansion isnt really appreciative, now to discuss each one of your ideas IMO
A commander would be pretty unfair considering how much damage an MM can take aswell as dish out already, if you added an attack set in for the secondary it would be over before it began, its simply very unbalanced unless they toned down both your pets damage as well as yours, in that case it would be pretty cool
A sniper would be flat out rejected a ranged stalker is basically a blaster with stealth and a stealth IO, combined with the fact that devs refuse even to help stalkers, who preform badly in PvE in comparison to other ATs solo aswell as on teams, while continuing to make blasters near perfect ATs, now im gonna leave this be becuase i dont want to insult or enrage anyone. also ild like to point out how much coding has to go into an AT so it would be something major and low on the list if someone did implement that
Not too hard to make but would ruin the concept of a superpowered villain if they all ran around in cars and bikes although its a nice idea ive never heard it before(lol run heros over with your car >.> <,<)
Not going to get into the question becuase it would require a whole new set of ATs and basically would require a new game (city of vigilantes?)
again ild like to point out how much time this would take to implement, its like moving a brick wall down the street with a bike, you can do it, its possible, its just gonna take a long time, although ild love that i really do like the Malta(just hate their sappers)
APPs dont need revamping AT ALL at all PPPs need major revamping though, almost none of them are worth taking and often arent unless you have room in ur build, i cant tell you how much i want Hibernate on my corr :), although this is very taxing, the devs are afraid of making anything villain side anymore challenging to their ranged stalkers(blasters) then stalkers and perma doms, >>)which is only a rumor(<< , are supposedly getting nerfed soon,
Good idea but this one has been debated and it would be a lil sticky to code and implement without being to overpowering having a power to cover up every weakness in an AT is breaking the game ATs are supposed to have weaknesses although they could be worked to be rather limited i dont know IMO it could work but it would be triicky
Like a rival system, that would be cool but would require alot of programming to be put into effect, i can see this happening, but not to soon

Unlike Epsilon I think that trinking up ideas and thinking about them is always cool. Of course, it doesn't matter too much what we say or think since we are not the devs. But talking never hurts.
I don't like the commander idea. MM's are already too powerful as is. By making the MM himself also deadly only makes it even worse. Maybe the idea could work it you would only get one or two henchman. But than it becomes more like a dom or corr with a few sidekicks. And I don't like the sidekick idea at all. It makes teaming even less necessary as it is already.
I do like the sniper idea. But the sniper should really be just that. No defenses what so ever. Even bubbled up you will drop down by one blow on the head by a Carnie strongman. And they should not be allowed to PvP at all! Hmm, that will never fly. Maybe not such a great idea after all :)
Vehicles and planes would be fun, but they should purely be cosmetics. If they add extra powers that only the rich or dedicated can have it will destroy the fun for casual players. Whom, I think, are still the majority in COH/COV.
I have no idea what APP/PPP means. But I think I don't like your idea. Not every AT should be allowed to have every power. What would be the fun in that? I love the fact all AT's have their own specialities.
I really like the faction idea. They could do a lot of cool stuff with that. If you build up even faction with the Hellions you will unlock certain styles for your base, or maybe even special powers for your entire SG. I don think it needs to be an SG thing, not an individual thing. And based on your faction maybe special SF's open up for each of the factions. Of course an SG can only be associated with one group. This could also make cool PvP options. Full gang wars a la Hollows. But with Carnie based SGs versus Council based SGs.

There a bunch of really cool ideas in there and some ones that aren't so great. I'm with Phedre on the commander. MM's are fine, and making a variation of them that are very strong themselves seem overly destructive. And the sniper, while a Energy/Regen toon would be badass, doesn't seem unique enough to be a whole other AT
Now I would LOVE vehicles. I've made tons of toons who should be on a Harley instead of SJ'ing around town. I do think this would be hard to do and there would be lots of problems but it seems doable...that and it would be totally awesome :P
Then theres the vigilante and "gaining favor" thing. It's certainly interesting, just doing whatever the highest bidder asks. It would allow for some fun story arcs for sure but there seems to be lots of holes in this and even though it's an idea it seems a little complicated. The gaining favor thing would also be hard to do I imagine, but it's a really cool idea. You get missions from various contacts, possibly even AVs like Doc Vahilz or Countess Crey and fight their enemies. However, just from reading what I just wrote, this seems very "Villains Only!" kind of thing. Who would heroes team up with? Legacy Chain? There are a lot of good baddies out there.
Next is this whole side kick and rival thing. I don't think this could work personally, though like all your other ideas it's certainly interesting. Would you create your rival? Would be just randomly appear in some of your missions or would there be special seperate rival missions? And having a permanent sidekick would be strange. Imagine always being the lackey to some other player all the time. I like the current sidekick system better.
Lastly is the customizable pets: YES!!! I would love to pimp out my bots. That would be SO cool! And it would allow for lots of freedom. Instead of mercenaries, you give them a make over and BOOM you got pirates. Instead of zombies, you can have Egyptian mummies. I'm all for this.
So yeah, thats my 2 infamy. Love the customizable pets, vehicles, and the gaining favor thing (even though it seems very villain-ish). Everything else is kinda overly complicated or a small deviation from what we have now. But thats just my opinion. Now I'm off to wait for i12 to come. *sits and waits in corner*

Didn't i read somewhere that one of villain Epic Archetypes will play like a ranged stalker though?
Hmm, the commander idea isn't too good though, after looking over it.
But I think that the faction idea is somewhat viable.

...
Do we have it yet? No? Darn...Maybe in Issue 13...
And the vehicles sound cool too. But an airplane is a bit much, maybe just motorcycles (as a substitute for SS) a small, personal helicopter (substitute for flight) and...well, i can't think of a vehicle that would mimic SJ... (Robo-Frog, anyone?)
Anyway, cool ideas.

Nice Ideas!
Im all for the Customize Henchmen. I have thought about that for a while now. I know Rainah mentioned something about having Female henchmen, which I think would be great. Only bad thing about that is there would be thousands of people making the Thug Mastermind a Pimp and the dress their "ladies" accordingly.
I would definetly try a Sniper Archetype. I think that would be an interesting approach to the game. Hmm...

Normally I'm the biggest advocate for reading the entirety of a thread here before posting, but that is one huge wall of text. From all of you.
I read the first post and a half, but the headache I've had for the past two days now prevented me from reading any more.

Sniper is AR/Devices blaster on the light side. Once you hit about 20 something.
A custom henchmen would be cool but require code and more power in the servers. Having a simple two colour button would be easier and not much extra code. It would make them more yours than they are now.
Transport and movement powers should be the next big project for game. It would be nice if how your toon used fly,SS,SJ etc was based on your background. So if you were a magic background, for fly you could have the choice broomstick, cloud flying (like in the TV show Monkey) or as they are now and so on. Natural with jet pack and so on.
The allied gangs idea would be fun, as a balance they could increase the response range of other gangs to your toon as you move through thier turf.

Personally, I always wanted to see a new type of AT that could be played on both the villain and the hero side. I was thinking of calling it the Wizard or something and making it a Veteran reward. Perhaps after being on the game for two years it unlocks this AT for both sides.
What I was thinking with this AT was that the primary would be a mix of ranged and melee damage of various types. You would have a darkness sword attack that does melee dark energy. You'd have a toxic cloud attack that sends a cloud of toxid dot damage a moderate range. You'd be able to throw a fireball, touch an enemy and do a large amount of cold damage to them as well as slow them down dramatically with a freezing touch. The whole point is that your primary does a wide variety of damage of all the different types.
The secondary set would contain a wide variety of abilities as well. You'd have a toggle armor that protects you from lethal and smashing damage. You'd be able to do a speed and recharge debuff in an area with quicksand or something similar. You'd have a power that works a bit like accelerate metabolism to buff your allies and something that could debuff your enemies.
I just thought it would be quite fun having one AT that exists on both sides and one that is like a mixture of all the other ATs and can touch on all the different types of powers but specialize in none.
I was also thinking of giving this AT a special power that works with your team mates abilities. If someone on your team uses an attack that does fire damage then your fire damage attack is increased in strength for ten seconds afterwards. If someone on your team uses a hold then your hold or immobilization in your secondary increases in strength briefly. And if you have a scrapper or brute on your team then your armor defence would be buffed a bit as well and so on.

Hi im new to the form > < (noob) anyway i realy like the idea of parting wid the enimies, i make most of my characters to come from council, CoT, and other random guys to kill. I think instead of a constant build up though for a 2 week special event you can part with up to 4 people, both heroes and villains can get usual enimies but arachnos is villain only, longbow hero only. Obviously ive though bout this and I thought after 6 mishions the faction you are with gives you 2 temp powers, one costume set of choice, and 1 permenant power. So yes no...yes plus if a dev reads this how bout a 3 week, triple xp week for the new epic charcters coming out. =D

Forgot to say we need customizable pets bad because genin dont look very evil do they? maybe instead of full pet configure just about 5 different versions of each pet, excluding upgrades that change them. by the way can anyway help me get ma mm up to lvl 38, deaths assisstant defiant server, ty :)

no sniper AT's, we already have em. effin blasters....
aren't commandos lone operatives? they seldom work in teams as far as i'm aware. besides, they are supposed to be so bad that they don't need help. it would be cool minus the pets.
maybe an elaboration on the types of devices that were available, something more specilized??
custom pets?! PLEASE!?
as far as vehicles go, i think the game would have to get a lot bigger. it shrinks a lot when you finally get a travel power. maybe as an alternative to fly, sj, ss, tp, it would be alot cooler than what i'm seeing in my head.
factions would be cool. would have to deffinatly be mindfull of game balance. if i may elaborate on this a bit. what if we had alter-egos instead. a steady job, family, friends (SG mates??), dog and a mortgage. this would add tons of depth to the game and allow all of us to break away from the standard formula of: get mission, kill, get mission, kill, get mission, go to contact, etc etc.....
these things could lead to co-op arcs between heros and villains, and/or one big arena type showdown. this would have to be a system that you would have to pay attention to without taking from the rest of the game, like a SG on a much smaller scale. it could afford you some benifits and some things that are slightly annoying but also fun and interesting, adding depth and back story/history to your toon (to much like real life maybe??). i mean really think about where this could go. just sitting here typing this i'm being flooded with ideas.

I only have two comments to add to this thread.
One. My main character, 1st character, most respecced character, most played character is my 50 Energy/Energy Blaster. I outdamage everyone..... I thought she was the pinnacle of damage dealing in the game. That is, until I made a Necro/Dark Mastermind. I plow through everything with ease. Even facing Elite Bosses on the hardest setting, I can take them out with at MOST one or two deaths depending on the type of AT they are. So this whole idea of a HIGH damage Mastermind...that's really what we are already. Adding more damamge to this class would be completely overpowering.
Two. I agree that there should be SOME ability to customize your henchmen. Especially the first time you form a team with 8 masterminds and realize that there are 20+ identical zombies running around. I would also like to see the ability to choose gender on your pets. A female zombie or ninja would be fun I think.

Being able to choose gender on your pets would certainly be interesting, but I wonder how they'd do that for robots. Would they differentiate them by making the female robots pink?

I think this would be an excellent way to futher a person's way of customization.
A villain looking like a Jester with a travel power of Super Jump, but with a pogo stick.
A biker looking dude jumps on his Harley to get to the next mission "Superspeed"
Doc Brown jumps in the De Lorean "superspeed-fly-teleport"
IMO it would be so cool if your travel power was a 2 part selection. So say your first part was to pick your device (car, plane, etc.), next part would be the travel power (superspeed, fly, tele, jump). So a person could pick a bicylce and superspeed or more of a magical ET rider -bicycle and fly.
The options are endless and but fun to think of. Would probably end up being to much hassle, but a great wish list.
