Is HA unplayable?

I'm a very experienced RA'er.
I PvP alot, probably more then anyone in [AMP]
I have pretty much all skills/gear unlocked
Have Vent/TS
but I'm r0
I never can find a group other then randomway for HA.

Ill find a group's need, (hey we need a DA para) Ok, i can run that.
Ok great, thats perfect, show us your rank.
uuuuh,,, r0 guys.

BOOT

I cannot find a group
[AMP] does not pvp, nor do any of our allies as far as i can tell.
I'm getting tired of spamming guild chat begging people to PvP

Short of quitting my guild, is there anything i can do?
or just forget it.

I am also part of the AMP alliance, and im probably not as expeirenced as you at PvP but i would like to get into PvP, ive never seen your requests.

see if you can trick them into letting you in by asking r6+ groups if its ok if you're only r5. I used to do that a lot then the group leader would tell me not to display my title so rest of the group didnt get mad at him for letting a r5 in (even tho i didnt have the title). People normally just want to form up the pug quick and move on so try to take advantage of that.

Primary reason i dont do HA is because i cannot find a group. And it sucks.

Also - rank in HA is not a proxy for skill.

but to gvg, one needs a guild that pvp's good and no offence but AMP definately isnt that guild...AMP is a laid back pve guild, not [RAWR]

but anyways @ futureman....ha is hell untill you get to about r3 or so unless you're in a guild that recognizes that you play on thier level

and most likely people in ha wont take you if you're r0-2 because they dont want to play with scrubs...im not saying everyone without rank is a scrub, what i am saying tho is that its a pretty good indication

if you're only "PvP" experience is RA then id say your best bet is running Sway, the RD crap, or some other stupid gimmick that plagues ha as you will have better luck with them at a low-no rank level than skill requiring builds

I've never done HA... But i can only imagine, back during the double rep points weekend for EoTN i kept getting kicked out of parties in Olafstead because i was under rank 5 or whatever.. i was like how am i supposed to farm points to get higher rank if your not letting me into your group?

What I do is get a few mates together then advertise R9+. If you know what you're doing and are good, nobody questions whether you have it or not.

[AMP] is not a PvP heavy guild, never has been and most likely never will be. The guildname...GameAmp Guides...says it all.

PvE and help in the community is the AMP way so if you're serious about PvP and Hero points you should follow one of these tried and tested methods:

1) Advertise on here and hope for a cool group of PvP'ers to pick you up
2) Take time off from AMP to play PvP and if it's all arranged nicely go back when you're done.
3) Quit the guild and find a PvP guild

My biggest problem with PvP is that it's hard to separate the good players from those annoying little 'I know everything and it's your fault I died' kinda people.

Well I'm not going to give a lot of tips cus I'll probably be proven wrong by hippie right away =P One thing that worked for a guildy of me, is showing your glad title. He had g3 at the time and got himself into r3-4 teams with it.

how do you get rank if the only way u can get rank is to have rank?

and if u can only get the rank by having rank how did the people with rank get that rank?

if you want to pvp, and your willing to take the time to learn, which tbh, i think you generally are, then just ask around.

i'm sure there are plenty of ppl even on these forums who HA that can invite you. As guardian said, if you invite people who just do it because they are bored and dont really know what theyre doing, it can be a burden on the rest of the team. Hence why people ask for rank so it shows you actually know what your doing.

but as i said, if your generally wanting to learn, and play with a bit of patience, just pm a few peeps who you know do a lot pvp.

Same thing happened to me, when i played with meg and ulv and hippie etc, i think i got more fame over a few hours, than i have over the 22 months i've been playing. and we won halls first go.

oh, and alos be prepared to get raged at a few times :P

PvP is like football. You can't just say: Okay, I just started playing, can I play in a professional group to gain experience? No. The PvP players who do HA started at the beginning as well. I started from the beginning. You just have to get pugs.

And I -never- take lower people than r9, even if they say they are r8. Most people will not accept you if you don't meet the requirement. You just have to get pugs.

First of I am not R3 yet. That being said I do HA a bit. I have won halls at least 3 times and have made it there at least 4 other times (all involving skips but still). I have 141 fame on my character and never took advantage of the double weekends. That being said I have played on both ranked and unranked teams, having a ranked friend start a team works. My first trip to HA was on an unranked guild team who never really HA'd just TA'd, we got a skip after the 3rd round and won.

Now first off I will agree that ranked groups tend to be better then unranked groups but that is simply becuase they have seen more builds and know how to counter them. Funny thing is many of the R3 and R6 people area those who farmed during a double weekend and only know how to play wiki builds - SWAY, IWAY, EOE, ELE bomb and what not.

It is actually funny seeing ranked groups try to play a non wiki build and fail becuase they have never played anything but a meta build.

In the end my tip for you is to advertise on GA and Guru in the PvP recruiting forums for a PvP guild and keep some friends in AMP to PvE with. If you get bored/frustrated with PvP I am sure they will take you back. When you put up your post make sure you list what professions you are most comfortable with, if you have all unlocks (or are really close), timezone and type of PvP you are looking for.

That's the horrible truth, unless you happen to get a HA guild to take you under their wing and train you up you're pretty much stuck with PUGs until rank 3. Even if you know you can play well. I mean I understand that the higher ranks are constantly having to deal with players who have only been playing the game for 2 weeks and already want to join the big boys, but sometimes there are genuinly good players who just havn't experianced HA before. Anyway I'm also a HA newbie, I've only got about 80 fame to my name (no rhyme intended) and it was all from PUGs.

HA is kinda like Marmite, either you love it, or you hate it.

The only way to enjoy HA is to get your friends involved, then play what you like, all this rank is nonsense fame is meaningless, but required to P U G efficniently and most PUGs fail, its not even that they IWAYed, SWAYed, Rit spiked blah blah all their fame, its simply that pug teams are only trying to farm the first few maps, anything more than that is a bonus.

If you get a group of friends together (start with a couple) and PUG (read fail) any needed slots for your build you will start to make your way into the arena. Keep anyone you PUG that seemed to fit well into your team on your F-list, ask them to play with you daily.

You can ask anyone that I played with before how the teams I run are ranked, they are usually unranked or low rank, I take anyone willing to play the build that I want to run (yeah I know its selfish, but I like to try mods of old meta builds, its funny) I have ran everything from old school IWAY to Legoway (pug balance) with unranked players and we have won fame out of the deal. And I would be willing to log back in and help some people get started.

I have been thinking about getting back into HA as well, so maybe if I do, I will post a build that I want to run in the HA section, and set a time and place and see how the turnout is. Dont expect this to be a fame factory, this will be experimenting, and getting people connected with each other and organized. I'll try to figure out a night this week to kick this off.

Thanks for all the responses guy. After hearing what you all say, I don't think i have the actual time to dedicate to become a serious HA player. I'm a teacher in RL, and if there are any teachers out there, you know what I mean when i saw I only play for about 2 hours a nite, if im lucky. I obviously have some day where i have like 5-6 hours of free time. But maybe i'll have to wait until summer to get into it.

That being said, I received a real nice PM from stan (+cred) and I am willing to take the time to learn. It is and has always been a goal of mine to get a halls win. Now that GW2 is coming out, I have a window that is closing, because even if everyone doesnt jump ship, most will, and it just won't feel right.

the thing i find idiotic is that i've played guild wars since its release, dont plenty of gvg and ta/ra, just never bothered to HA much. yet i still cant get a group because of it. im not gonna bitch, because thats the way it is. it just makes me want to vomit when i'm stuck in an unranked s***way, and i see someone in ID1 spamming "starting r9+ ele bomb!"

I am at the very high F2(Fame 2) with no rank. I mostly never find a group hence I have only been in 3 groups. Which I got in because my friend joined a group and he has some rank and I, you could say, leeched to his group.

Also I'm not really a PvP player I don't like how you have to have this all right and if one little tweak is off then I get kicked. Don't get me wrong I know that if a build is off it could throw the team down like playing jenga but I'm just saying.

Mostly I don't like it because once you lose one time from a better team everyone leaves from the high stress and all your progress of looking for a team for like 3 hours is lost.
