Howdy,
That is all I get from my CoH loader these couple of days. It has been happening with more and more frequency of late. The loader comes up, the info screen appears in the top section, but the bottom section says:
Connecting.. 0:00 Remaining
Empty bar 0B/0B 0B/0Sec
And it just sits there. I've tried deleting the checksum, its not getting that far, so that doesn't work. Is there something else I could remove to try an stimulate it into action?

the only thing i could suggest would be to unistall and then reinstall... but i'm sure someone else could offer some other advise and you can use that one as a back up... but that usually fixes any problems i have w/ the game

When you first start up COH, instead of clicking "next", click on "verify all files", if it gives it to you. Depending on your computer and connection it could take a bit, so be pateint. Mine does it in a few minutes, but I thought somebody (was it Arcane?) had said it took like 20.

I've found moderate success with closing my initial connection window and reopening. It might not work for you, but it's always been a great fallback for me. Good luck.

Yeah, it was me complaining about the Verify Files length of time. Even though I have a high bandwidth cable connection, it seems to repeat the 'verifying files' and 'downloading file manifest' many times over. It has become substantially more infrequent though. I have occasional problems, but typically it will do that within 5 minutes now. On rare occasions it will take 20-45 minutes, but only if there was a system crash while playing the game. If that happens, I typically just reboot, start the verify process, and go watch TV or go to bed. Not that big of a deal, and probably due to my somewhat finicky (though pretty fast) computer. It works fine when it is done.

Common issues with connection:
Wireless - CoH doesn't like Wireless connections. Plain and simple. It's a VERY connection intensive program, like any MMORPGs. If you're able to Wire the connection, do it. Wireless is a pain with MMORPGs.
XP Service Pack 2 - There is a built in firewall in XP Service Pack 2. I find it easiest to just disable it totally. You can allow the COHUpdater to go through it, also.
Firewalls - Software firewalls like Zone Alarm and the like will need to be set to allow the COHUpdater program through. Hardware firewalls are usually ok, but sometimes if they're set too protectively they will cause you to not work.
Internet Provider - Contact your internet provider and see if they're experiencing issues. Recently, Cox Communications and Verizon DSL have had issues connecting. I'm on Cox, but haven't had any issues personally.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner. This has been occurring since I installed Wireless on my system. Mind you, it doesn't work, as I have nothing to tie into, but something in the wireless software is interferring with CoH.

Hrm. The wireless software SHOULDN'T be interfering, it's usually just the connection itself which is just unstable enough to drop you now and again.
However, try uninstalling the wireless stuff and see what happens.

your having a conflict! most likely with your drivers check out your system drivers make sure you see where the conflict is happening. My guess, when you installed the driver for the wireless wonderful windows assumed that was your new way of connecting to the WWW, then it realizes it don't work then it gets stuck in a bind. Most programs that work directly off the primary internet connection instead of via the explorer window have issues like this :)
