Guildwars on An External Drive

Hey guys I got a question, I wanna take GW with me to a computer that dosen't have it, so could i copy all my gw directory files to an external drive that i have and run GW off that drive on the other computer? Or will it not work because its not on a (C:) Drive Directory?

It will work, have done it before, aslong as you got the GW.Dat + GW.exe file it will work, it might ask where to download the files to though, just select the folder with the GW.dat file so it doesnt download 50K files again.

Thought you would have to edit the registry of the other computer. I know I had to do so when I brought GW to school.

Not Needed unless the PC might run some protective software (school PC), these days it will just ask ''where to download files'' if you copied it and then just make it download files to where the GW.dat file is, if you don't do that it WILL download all files over again :P

Registry editing is only needed when normal installation doesn't work. And to clean up after yourself when you disengage the external disk from the host pc. It's Registry will be polluted if you don't. Sadly, a clean uninstall is tricky to do without accidentally removing your files.

Oh yeah i remember running games off of an external disc back on my old comp, which was new then, i had formatted the ext disc later on in time and when i went into the regestry it still had the games on it, and it wouldnt let me take them off the list OR EVEN INSTALL THE GAME AGAIN BECAUSE "IT WAS ALREADY INSTALLED".....

lol

I have the exact opposite whenever i preserve my games after a WW (Windows Wipe), i can play them all and so, but whenever the CD goes in they say ''install'' while its already there, Registry has no clue :P

RegFixes i know about, but cannot always be bothered.
