Cloverfield

OK, Cloverfield comes out on DVD on the 22nd, I am one of the few people who did not go to the movies to see it. My better half (wife) is not to fond of the horror genre.

So what I need from everyone is positive reinforced viewpoints on how awesome the movie was so she will not kick my butt when I come home with Cloverfield instead of a chick flick.

This way I have an out saying I was duped by GameAmp.

RE: Cloverfield

OMG I LOVED THE MOVIE IT WAS THE BEST MOVIE I EVA SAW

but in all seriousness, it was a great movie for what it was. it always kept me in suspense (trying to see what the monster looks like xD) and well if your wife doesn't like scary movies, you can always be there for her so she can have something to grab on
i think i will probably get a copy of it as well, maybe u can pick up one for me :D
i think pretty much everyone who saw it, ever, was not disappointed
hope it helps, and if not...
Mrs. Dragon Scale, its a really good movie. Way better than any chick flick out at the moment :D
...not that i watch chick flicks or anything

RE: Cloverfield

oh ya, saji makes a good point...
the actors aren't very good cameramen (i believe they held a camera as they acted right?)
and the shaking can be a little much...

RE: Cloverfield

Plus it didn't really seem like a horror movie. I mean it wasn't that scary to me and I think i would rather put it under a "first person action" :P But that's just my opinion.

RE: Cloverfield

It can feel a little sickening when the person holding the camera runs, and points the camera to the ground, bt I didn't really care:PI just wanted to see what the monster looked like >.<
Anyway, I think you should buy it, it's not really that scary or anything, but it's an awesome movie anyway

I was seeing some teaser on sites and wow the handheld camera view was making me sick. It turned me off to the movie. Maybe that is why it came out on dvd so quick?

RE: Cloverfield

It was recorded using a hand-held camera (or atleast, something in that direction, probably one of the diamond-premium-exclusive versions to get proper quality.

Some Cinema's had signs warning about Motion Sickness during the movie ;)

All in all, Good Movie, i've seen better movies yes, but in this type of "big huge monster" it's still a good thing, beats Power Rangers monster wrecking your average city anytime.

RE: Cloverfield

good movie for those with strong stomachs.
just not sure if I would want it in the collection.
J.J. Abrams has a habit of never really giving out answers to his works.

Im presuming you mean the Motion Sickness for some right? Doesn't contain that much gore, besides a nice SPLAT ''you just tested our new Lose Weight in a Second pill''

RE: Cloverfield

for movies with that type of point of view, i much preferred diary of the dead. but cloverfield was decent. for the record, the guy who did cloverfield was also the guy who does LOST, hence the same "i'm-not-sure-what-it-is-but-its-sure-as-hell-scary" monster

You can kill a person by blindfolding him for a few days, then cracking an egg on his head and telling him you just cracked open his skull, so why is it impossible to get motion sickness from spastic filming where you have almost zero-focus on the screen, because you more or less move your head from time to time to see things sideways/upside down and so on :P

RE: Cloverfield

If you get it try and see if theres any burning homeless people, I couldn't see any but its mentioned. Also a women explodes, always fun. It's a pretty good film but I had my friend sat next to me calling all the little guys pubic lice and nicknaming the monster, definate benefit from a DVD
