I got the game about a month and a half ago, and it sat on my desk for a long time. I have an iMac, and Windows was not installed on my Mac. I had a week vacation last week, and finally installed Windows again in my free time. So I was cleaning my room and and came across the City of Heroes Good VS Evil edition I bought with my Best Buy Reward Zone certificates I got a month or so ago from all the crap I bought for Christmas, and through out the year. I had about $20 dollars and the game was 29.99, but I had seen it at GameStop for 19.99 and they matched the price, Sweet eh?
So yea I installed it, and I made a really quick non-indepth Hero, played about three minutes of the Tutorial, and then turned the game off.
It's not that I didn't like the game. I just could tell I really really was going to like it, and I didn't put enough time or thought into my Hero. So I deledted it, and then I had to go.
But I am going to have more and more free time to play, so I want to know if you guys can give me any tips for First Time players.
Looking at all the types I think I am going to pick Claws/Regen/Mutian and have a somewhat of a Woloverine type Hero, but I bet that's so overdone isn't it?
Maybe I will read all of them, and see the best way.
My favorite superhero is Spider-man, so maybe I could make a hero more like him?
Anyway... advice is super helpful.
Any pros/cons to any of the servers?
PS: I googled City of Heroes and this site came up if you were wondering how I found it

Welcome to Gameamp! So glad to have yet another new member aboard!
My suggestion would be to try an MA/SR, if you really want a character (toon, we call em) that's like Spiderman. If you want to stay with Claws/Regen, thats a great build. Lots of good mitigation, though regen develops a little late for my tastes. (I still love it, but I dread leveling a regen all over again ;) )
Anyway, there's alot of ampers that play on Triumph, and a few of us (myself, bold-lightning, and Lord Starwolf) all play on gGuardian, so feel free to join us there. I'd be more than happy to roll a toon up with you to help show you the ropes, as I'm sure anybody else here will.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm Warron, and I'm known as a powers guy, with alot of character-building experience. I also know quite a bit about PvP, if you ever become interested in that aspect of the game. Feel free to PM (Private Message) me with any questions, and/or post em up for anyone to respond to.

There's also a link to the left ehre that has the Starter's Guide. It's a good place to..um, start. Read through it and you should have the basics.
And remember, don't make the toon look too close or name it anything that is copyrighted, like spiderman or wolverine. You'll end up becoming generichero758963325, or whatever the latest number is. If they decide you are too close to a copyrighted charater they rename your toon and i think ive even heard of them changing the costumes, but im not for sure.

Well thanks for the replies guys! I have to go to my 2nd job now where I work till 9PM EST, but I should be home around 9:15-30 and I might play a bit.
I installed COS today at work and it's WAY to slow to play, but I made my new "toon". I tried to make it a lot like me.
So I made this
Edit: I changed his name to iHero. I know im a dork, but I thought it was better then Soccerball.
I got to level 2 WOOT WOOT! And got the Outbreak Badge :)
I get to start playing the real game tonight!
PS: Thanks for all the help with answering my stupid new questions on here, and in the game, you guys are great!
