We do, didn't you know that? LOL
In all reality, since the "Lighthouse" didn't identify itself in the first place, and the the American fleet was much larger, I think the point they were trying to make was it would be easier for one ship to change course then an entire fleet. But never-the-less, that is some funny stuff.
You have your entire life to be a jerk. So why don't you take today off?

Come again? You totally missed the point. The point was that you could have put any 2 countries/nationalities in there. If it makes you feel better replace British with Martian, and French with Mesopotamian... The point was, while it was hilarious and definitely an accurate portrayal of certain American attitudes (we're not all that arrogant, thank you!), there was no way to prove that it was a FACTUAL record of an ACTUAL incident, and people are using it as a launchpad to unfairly generalize against an entire nation of people--even ones who don't necessarily agree with the attitude represented in the story. For all we know that was made up by some 13 year old in his mom's basement or some board, copy boy in New Guinea...
And thanks for misquoting me too. Like I said above, that was a great find Leppis! Like I said above, it was hilarious!

I qouted the part I was referring too, not everything. doh.
And it aint unfair generalize against an entire nation... its just the attitude america shows to the world.. And I'm talking about america in general, Never said every american was like that. Its just the attitude of the nation. America made it look that way themselves, not other people.

I doubt this is real. After all, why would the guy at the lighthouse simply say 'negative' after the American naval officer's first demand that the Canadians change their course? (Call me prejudiced: I think that most Canadians are smarter than that. ;) It would have been much easier to point out immediately that a lighthouse tends to stay put.)
