firefox 3 blocking GameAmp:resolved

this kind of follows on from a sort of unresolved thread here

when upgrading to firefox 3 and trying to access gameamp you'll see this page:

its all to do with previous attempts at someone putting malicious code in past threads and new settings in firefox.
goto tools, then options here:

you need to choose the security tab and uncheck the option to tell me when you are vising a suspected attack site here:

be aware once you've done this it does it for all websites, so if you visit dodgy websites regulary, then do so at your own risk.

you'll now be able to access GameAmp

it seems now that an admin from amp needs to visit this page and get amp off of their bad list seeing as the site is reported as being ok, but still blocked.

i thinks thats something to do with your browser cos their coming from my gameamp image gallery and work for me in firefox, explorer and on my laptop and pc. if they dont work then the text is deive enough to know what to do :)

Images working fine for me aswell
My FF blocked the page aswell, but found out about this while messing around in options:)
Thought people already did solve it as the old thread was inactive^^

Bleeeh, crappy feature in FF3.
Oh well, that's why it's in Beta.

I do hope they'll give that thing the usual "exceptions" list so you can turn it off for those sites you "know" you can trust and leave it on for others. If not, it's going to be Yet Another Security System People Don't Understand and either blindly follow or turn off.

Click on his avatar, you can see that they're actually fubarred in his personal gallery as well. If he goes there, he'll see instructions on how to fix it (i.e. upload into the same slot again).

i've got no clue why those images were acting funny, seemed they worked sometimes and then stopped, and worked for some people and not others. guess image gallery doodah playing silly buggers. i've re-uploaded the pics into the right slots, so any more problems and it'll be up to a site admin to see whats going on.

p.s.

im not too sure about firefox 3 yet, still a bit too buggy, had a couple of crashes and error messages so won't be un-installing ff 2 yet.

FF3 is not in the beta stage to be tested by normal users. It's out for website devs mostly, as well as site testers who actually test and leave feedback. Normal users shouldn't bother with it just yet and stick with ff2

Clue's in the title: beta. as soon as a product comes out as beta then everyone has to have it no matter how bad it performs at its current stage. it's like sticking a lower case 'i' in front of something makes it instantly cool.

if i did that, then why would it work for some people and not others?

i dont bother using the buttons at the top as they misbehave somtimes when closing tags, so i just use the html code myself, and get the image location itself from the properties, not the page address.

Here's the first image: clicky as he included it. Which you can also find by visiting his Gallery. As you can see, it's the image not the page. That results in no image at all and it would not have worked at some point.
This "fix your image" picture is a placeholder for when AMP's database eats the original picture over time, or if it's only partially uploaded. The message at the bottom of everyone's Gallery
"If your thumbnails are not displaying properly, re-upload your old gallery images"
gives a hint as to how to solve this problem. A long time ago, Staff was instructed on this issue by the Devs, but it doesn't happen that often so most have probably forgotten all about it.

Aye, sorry didn't read other posts, lol.

I like ff3, it should be very reliable as it's predecessors, IMO firefox has been the best web browser made.

ONe thing i noticed, is when you hit Control + or - to make text on page bigger in firefox 2 or older the text gets bigger and if you do it on IE6 or higher it makes the whole page and everything ot it bigger/smaller Firefox 3 took this approach now instead of just text. Little thing i found out :)

Around the time when people started thinking it was cool to be 'cutting edge' even if you're more liable to cut yourself on the edge rather than use it for its intended purpose and assuming that using a beta version would somehow automatically impart coolness or knowledge of what the you're doing. It's kind of like men and power-tools or cars.
It's all compensation for something.

Oh wait, that was rhetorical wasn't it? :-D

Anyhoo, you see it in MMOG development as well, all the time.
People being upset they're not allowed into a closed Beta, then when they finally get into one, they're upset it isn't a polished working game, but something that when compared to a launched game, basically sucks. Beta is a test phase, meaning things aren't finished, they can go bump or break.

May i also say Gameamp Icon finally shows up for amp links, woot!

EDIT: Found a few bugs with a few websites i use for games and other crap and have to go back to Firefox2 to view them, hopefully that will get fixed as well...

ie tab for ff3 is out already, you could just add that and watch those sites using the ie rendering engine rather than ff's own for now. it's my favorite plugin, besides the one that checks if you already added a bookmark. oh and the grabber of ded media objects thingy. forgot the name, the little fishy icon. plugout or something.

thanks for the heads up on ie tab lani, thats a great plugin/addon! usually i when have to install firefox i use the same few addons, adblock, downthemall and download helper.

downthemall is a great download manager, it actually works in speeding up downloads, for me at least, and download helper lets me grab vids and songs off youtube and myspace type sites.

wonder if can turn this thread into a favourite fire fox add-on/extension thread, or put up a new off topic one for it?
