It seems to me a lot of MMO players are also fans of Poker both online and broadcast. What do you all think I am off or dead on?

Hold 'em is great. Lots of my friends play it online, but for some reason I find poker to be alot more enjoyable around a table with real people.

I really like catching the World Poker Tour or any Poker on ESPN just after a long gaming session; it is a great way to relax at the end of the day. The more I talk to MMO'ers in real life the more I finding male MMO players tend to also be fans of Poker as well. So any one have a favorite poker show or player?

Poker is a great game, I love playing it.
I love card games in general. In my college days I think spent more time playing 'toepen' than going to class. I have no idea the English/American word for this game, but it has the same principles as poker: bluffing your way to victory and winning (or losing) some money in the process. Only it didn't involve a huge amount of money. Nowadays we are having Texas hold-em poker tournaments once a month in the evening at work. 10 pound buy-in, winner takes all.
There is not a lot of poker on TV here in England, but when I lived in Chicago I did watch it from time to time. But more to simply kill time than really enjoying it. And I have never played poker online. So does that make me the exception to the rule, or the prove your notion is flawed? I don't know.

Well it my flaw it in terms of my gender bias. Then again most of the pro tourneys tend to be heavily populated with male participants. As for euro card games I did have Mille Bourne on my bbs and it was very popular. I can also say that so far I have managed to avoid playing poker online but bet will eventually.

Just for the sake of finding out how its dymanics really works I am very tempted to try out pkr.com. It is a virtual poker table. You actually pick and dress up a real avatar (like in an MMO), but in stead of butchering with a sword on the battle field, your avatar sits around a poker table. Besides playing poker you can do all kind of emotes, I think. Maybe it is more a gimmick than serious stuff, but it is very tempting.
