Hi all,
Since I'm bored as hell I want to make a new pve character. but I only have 1 character slot left (I'm not going to buy more). I have to decide between a dervish, assassin or mesmer.
What do you think? And why?

In my opinion either an Assasin or Mesmer because both are very versatile proffesions capable of causing a great deal of problems for any foe in both PvE and PvP alike. plus im not much of a dervish player so XD
Dervish
With eternal aura you can keep up an avatar forever, and their scythe deals big damage, espcially in PvE where nmonsters tend to ball up. And they are frowned upon less than the other 2.

Assassin, i can send you a template ingame of one, works very good in PvE (campaigns, not farming) and in AB it's also a surprising thing for most, they expect me to be one of those hitNrun clowns, and send a warrior at me, how wrong they are.
Anyways, they are as said versatile, though like the Mesmer, their true place to shine is in PvP as many keep saying, but even in PvE you can do considerable damage, and there's some nifty farm builds out aswell.
I'd take dervish if you're only going to use them in PvE. Assassin doesn't work because your hench kill a target before you can even finish half of your chain (they'll always follow what you attack even if you call another target). They got cool armor though..
Mesmer doesn't work for me in PvE either. It's more for shutting down a single person and taking a mesmer into a mission just for shutting down one boss isn't quite worth the trouble. And they bore me =P but yet again have cool armor.
Dervish can do some nice AOE dmg with their scythe. Even more if you give one of your heroes splinter weapon! And as Aeon said, you can keep up your avatars. The bad thing about them is that all the armors look the same.
Assassins are Great in both PvE and PvP, they deal tons of damage especially with Vamp Daggers, and A couple skills, Critical Agility and Locust's Fury. Mine focuses on Crit and dag Mastery, does loads of damage. I had a youtube video of it before but i deleted it, otherwise it put it up. Don't forget to use Death blossom in a skill chain too. So my recommendation is Assassin.
