Claws/Regen vs. Claws/Willpower

Which one should I pick?
What are the pros and cons of each set?

RE: Claws/Regen vs. Claws/Willpower

Well, i have no experience with clawls but i do have a somewhat decent experience with WP and Regen, my experience indicates that regen has better outright survivability then WP in certain situations, since regen basically has no defence or resistance it relies on heals, which when fully slotted i think beats defense and resistance as defense and resistance all to often have holes, and with regeneration, heals have no holes, on the other hand, WP has been blenderized from the brute/scrapper/tank version, it lost RttC for reconstruction a low recharge decent heal, same as regens recon and lost quick recovery for Hide, although it is has no mez holes, aswell as a defense and/or resistance to every damage type as well as having a passive +res to all and Dull painish type skill, aswell as having a "god mode" type tier 9 with a very small crash, although its tier 9 is unaffected by recharge modifiers. All in all the gutted version of WP is IMO inferior to the semi-gutted version of regen that are given to stalkers

RE: Claws/Regen vs. Claws/Willpower

I have leveled a claws/regen stalker to 34 now, and she is wickedly fun. She is also the first stalker I actually enjoyed playing. Especially at low levels stalkers are extremely squishy. The early health recovery power of the regen set really boost your survivability. WP has some too, but the problem is that WP shies the most if you have multiple enemies around you. And that is something you basically always want to avoid as stalker. It is a lot of hit and run. So quick recovery from around the corner behind the bushes is essential too. The quicker your health is full again, the quicker you can AS the boss, or EB, again before his health is recovered.

Maybe WP has PvP or endgame benefits over regen. Others will tell if there are benefits. But as starting stalker I would definitely go with regen.

PVP wise I went toe to toe with an eng/regen stalker on a WP/SS tank, little bugger wouldn't quit.

In my many attempts to start a stalker of any kind I have always found myself back at regen for a secondary.

RE: Claws/Regen vs. Claws/Willpower

Regen is usually accepted as one of the best secondarys available for stalkers and scrappers, although it starts out stronger then its competetion, NiN and SR, as it gets what is, for the most part, its god mode type power at 28 instead of 38, although make no mistake, MoG as it is is a great skill for setting up AS when they can see you, but NiN and SR finish off a little bit stronger in some areas then Regen, although Regen is a contender, Regen in itself is flawed for a stalker build, as you probebly noticed the heals are meant for a brute style play, scrapper if u must, but with the lose of its Quick Recovery, its for a large part not possible and often Regens find themselves out of end due to the rather absurd cost of activating their heals as much as they often do at 10.4 end a pop with attacks thrown in there it hurts the blue bar, before NiNs and SRs will becuase of the aid of their tier 9s. Willpower on the other hand has a major play in the resistance catagory, which with a stalker, is flawed in itself, resistance takes a hit and reduces it, and a stalker, which is a squishy by most common standards given its low health, resistance isnt all that good unless coupled with a great heal or superb regen rate, WP on a brute is a supreme example of this, its regen rate heals back its wounds, while a stalker lacking that has to make do with Reconstruction and in many cases Aid Self is advisable, while i dont dis reconstruction as it is a great heal, its not good enough, an example of a successful resistance set would be fiery aura, sure they heal the same but fires heal is back 10 seconds before reconstruction would be, also ild like to point out that defense, in its use in WP is flawed, a blaster with Aim+BU is going to hit through it, a tank with BU is gonna hit through it, its just not enough, esspecially with the new accuracy disbute that rages inside many of the pvp zones, Def is good for stalkers only in huge numbers, while res for a stalker is like handing a brute the Empathy secondary. WP most likely will never make it to a very high standing on a stalkers secondary unless it gets a major revamp.

RE: Claws/Regen vs. Claws/Willpower

I have some experience with both sets and I can say that overall I have enjoyed Willpower a lot more. I don't like the fact that it has so many toggles and it is End heavy.

My DB/WP Scrapper can tear through a crowd like a booger through a wet kleenex, but has to stop and catch his breath before moving on. Some of that problem is due to my slotting style. I do take a precausious approach when it comes do End, but hey we all know dealing damage is where the fun is.

As for Regen, I can take it or leave it. It really comes into its own once you can get SO Enhancements. For me it just takes to much to get where I want it to be. My Dark/Regen Scrapper has recently been deleted due to my dislike of the build. I can say that it is the Dark Melee that made me delete the toon though.

My best advice is to try them both.

RE: Claws/Regen vs. Claws/Willpower

I have no experience with Claws.

I have a NB/Regen Stalker... I love Regen on my stalker.

I only have experience with WP on a Brute, so I'm not sure how much help I would be there.

You should definately make both and keep the one you start to favor more.
