Chipset drivers

Ok i had to reinstall Windows XP sp2, and after getting the Ether (MoBO)/video/ and other drivers. I am wondering am i still suppose to get the Chipset drivers as well (or did it come with the MOBO drivers). My MoBo is an Ausu, and it's a socket A, but that is far as my knowledge goes with MOBO's and Chipsets.
I am assume it is my processer due to COV/COH, Wow, Half-life2, Fear, ect will play with no problem. Yet when i run GTA SA, my comp shuts down and restarts. I open up Speedfan, and it says my CPU is running really high.
If anyone can help,thankas

RE: Chipset drivers

most likely the answer is yes you need the drivers, but try runnin the game in either safe mode or compatibility mode first
cause if the other games are workin it may be something else

RE: Chipset drivers

Motherboard Drivers these days contain the latest stable drivers for the Chipsets on it, so unless you go for beta or experimental drivers for individual chips, you do not need to upgrade them separately.

Having an issue with a single application and not others points towards a problem not with your hardware or drivers, but that application.

Agreed. Check to see if people on the intarblargs have had similar problems with the game first. Then, if you still don't find anything, you can try calling support.

However, I recommend a good hardware cleaning, especially if you haven't done one in awhile. It can't hurt (Unless you forget to ground yourself. Then it can hurt alot).

Also, what is your processor and speed?

RE: Chipset drivers

It could also be that your system has the games.are.evil virus. It is a nasty program originally written by the "United Front Against The Apocalypse". In their crusade against the evilness of video games they are especially targeting RockStar Games. In their eyes they are the ultimate evil. The virus they had developed will prevent you from playing any "Grand Theft Auto" or "My Little Pony" games. I thought it was just a rumour, but I guess these fanatics don't stop for anything.
