There was some bad code in a ad a while back and google just has not removed that warning from it long ago. Though I do suggest upgrading to Firefox with adblock plus and nos c ript. stupid filter
:) I Think the gameamp admins need to start puting firefox ads up or write a post about firefox with good extensions to use.
I might.. hrm oh well

That is because it has to do with google not firefox/ie. All you have to do is get past it is bookmark http://guildwars.gameamp.com All browsers have that ability.

I don't understand why you would google something you visit almost everyday, just bookmark it, like he said.

I've been getting virus warnings too, and I use Opera:
AVG picks up the threat, so it's not browser-related.
Mods, please check yuor site! :O

Guys, I think you'll find that the Malware you are referring to is an old problem we had over a year ago and that it has been solved. It was a bad piece of code in an ad on the site. Unless we hear otherwise, let's just assume that everything is OK.

yes its from an old problem that was resolved, but not fully, as people keep getting pop-ups and blocked from the site.
you can't expect every single user who visits the site to download firefox and install adblock or know which settings to check/uncheck, when it would only take one person/admin to make a report to whichever site (google?) who has gameamp on their blacklist of sites to resolve it.
this issue keeps popping up, and while there may not be any actual threat, it does prevent people from viewing the site, who knows how many anonymous people have got the msg and just turned away from amp without trying further?

Exactly. It might be old and presumably solved, but I still keep getting warnings. This will certainly cost you visitors and possiblr future members...

sad to say that today completely out of the blue i've started getting alerts from avg everytime i visit a ga page, i used to get them before but it stopped for quite a while. it is a real shame as it does do alot of harm for ga in terms of traffic.
the message i'm getting at the moment is for 2 potential threats:
threat name:/psyma.nq
threat name: exploit
avg gets rid of them but they seem to be ded in every page.
• Guild Wars: Mutants [MU] • Age of Conan: Ampian Forerunners •

That's the old vulnerability in Window's HTML-HELP system which got fixed on August 8 2006 and is a standard feature in today's advertisements. Not entirely kosher, but only a threat to a Windows XP (or older) system not updated since August 2006-ish.
Notron and Symantec trip on it as well, even Google.
The latter was happily serving this 'exploit' through their own Google Ads for quite a while though, until the devs went with another ad-supplier.
P.s. to all you "Use Firefox to save world hunger and any other issue you might have" folks out there. Firefox is technically marginally more secure than Internet Explorer. This is offset and negated for most FF users by their smug ignorance of the fact their browser is not secure, but less insecure.

It is just a list that google puts sites on that may have a problem. It is a old error. In order to get off the list requires many man hours of talking and dealing with google, to have them throw you back on it a few short months later.

I was speaking of the Picture that was posted above. The google add at the top of the page, first post for the people that do not understand. About google noticing as malware. Was I not clear on saying "It is just a list that google puts on sites that may have a problem"? I never said anything about AVG.

unfortunatly you werent clear, as the next picture above your post is the avg warning.
if avg is picking up something it may well be 2 problems, or, the new avg uses a list like the google one. either one a dev needs to be poked, which has been suggested a few times before in previous posts about the problem. any mods got the power to poke?

Unfortunally you did not read my first post Here it is since you missed it | QUOTE | | It is just a list that google puts sites on that may have a problem. It is a old error. Where do you see a mention of AVG? I beleive it talks about google listing the site that have potential problems not AVG. So the picture would refer to the GOOGLE picture (the first post) nothing having to do with AVG. Hope that is clear enough.
Here is another topic refering to it....Check Kanna's second post
Or....| QUOTE |
Yea, I was in contact with Google alot during my SM time. I managed to get it off the list for a few weeks. But as long as that code is within the ads that is on this site, black listed, she will be. |
