Attempting Surivor (Rank 3)

Well...I've been wondering what people think, is it really worth attempting to go for legendary surivor?
Cus I've been trying but keep dying and it gets me pissed off.
Does any1 think it will affect Gw2?
Is it rly worth going for?

Not really worth it, imo. I was going to get LS on my monk, and I think I spent more time being paranoid about dying than I did trying to learn how to monk effectively. It kind of sucked the fun out of the game after awhile. I did get LS on my sin, but that was more of an exercise in irony, given how sins were known for being roadkill when Factions first came out (and everyone was trying to tank with them before learning what they were all about).

Besides, sometimes its fun to just run into a mob of 20+ baddies.

I agree with the running into 20+ mobs =P
But the main reason I want to get LS is that I'm wondering if will affect characters in Gw2 in anyway. Does anyone have information on that?

It's really easy if you do it one of the grinding ways. Boring if you do it one of the other ways.

ATM my warrior with legendary survivor just hit 300 deaths two days ago, it's 1.5 years old and has 5.3M exp. They way I did it involved hero farming methods, that in the long run helped me with macroing heroes and killing stuff speedily (TBH I just stole ideas from GvG matches I fought). And in the end, I tend to die more when I play with other people now. A large part of that started after I did LS that way.

So in the short run, I was bored and it took me 80 hours. I made a bunch of money (probably 80k, but I spent 200g each run on scrolls). If you can do it in HM, it goes alot faster.

Anyway, I'd say go for it, there are faster ways then what I did. You could do it in maybe 40 hours of time fairly easily.

I did the survivor run with Killroy in Iron 's Dungeon( Gunnar's Hold), using scroll of the light bringer and other scrolls, took me about 39 hours, and that is counting them first 4 or 5 hours to get me to 20 in Factions. I got this tonite! I am happy, I wish you luck and no LAG and rubber banding!

Legendary Survivor is a cool title.. but it really is not fun to do. Trust me i know.. i've gotten 2 LS via FFF. 3 LS via normal game play. And so many times that i have died doing it. The most recent one was at about 1.2mill xp and i just deleted my warr that had 1mill xp hence i wanted to make mesmer with the same name. <- the mesmer was made trough that "easy noob quest" in EotN.

I don't know what is it about LS i love so much, but it really isn't fun..

Thx for all the responses...yeah leppis i feel the same way..something about surivor keeps making me wanna reach it..idk maybe cus it looks sick on a melee guy with cool armor =P

i got 1 legendary, was going for another on new necro.. but i died while chatting with Kanna about pwny xpress t-shirt.. >_<

i never start chatting on tight spots, but now I did and lost 12h of grinding ;)

I got Rank 2 on a Ele ( Tank FTW XD )
But anyways after I die'd I deleted the char because it wasen't funny anymore :P
So think it thoug before you do it because omg it takes sooo long ;) (Unless you skill cap)

i'm r1 on my para without even trying. he literally just passed r1, and i did it just by playing. only when i got to lvl 15 i think it was, that i kinda noticed he was going for it. with 80 armor and the fact there mid line helps a lot. same goes for ranger in the same respect.

Our guild leader has a sin that he's making into a LS, and he's just playing along in the game. but of course, if it goes wrong, your gonna be annoyed.

as for GW2, no idea, just gotta find out.

i've gotten my sin to r1 no problem. i take things a little more carefully and calculate my strategies in pve a bit more often then normal (with my warrior). other then that, i dont expect any setbacks, knowing is half the battle. :)

Yeah I've gone for this too soley for the sake of having it when GW2 comes out. I've tried three times, but thanks to a nasty combo of lag and Fronis Irontoe's Ettin, all have failed. I guess I'll just jump back on the horse as well...wish me luck.

It's not hard to get in my opinion, I've made many. It is definitely worth it. Some people in my guild with 29 max is grinding on savior of kurzick cuz they didn't get legendary survivor. Right now you might feel it's only 1 max title but in a long run, especially when u r aiming for God Walking Amongst the Mere Mortal and don't have that much cash, each and every title counts. It might be frustrated sometime but it gets easier. And get through the game with H/H, don't do it with PUG. You might wanna try PvP first, it definitely helps your surviving skill. My necro survived HM without any death. Any ways good luck.

My 2 cents:

For Legendary Survivor with a Ele or Sin, farm Raptors outside Rata Sum in HM. With the E/A / A/E builds with Shadow Form, you can't die, and you get 8000 expoints per run, that take about 1 minute... use some 300% XP scrolls, and you have LegSurv in an hour, easy huh..
Getting to lv 20 takes around 5 hours + 1 hour farming= +-6 hours..lol

while this is somewhat correct, its not entirely true.

you could easily farm this and make 24k xp every few minutes with scrolls etc. but the risk is too high if your serious about going for survivor. shadow form will make you invincible but when it ends you are left with little health.

if you were to do it with a sin you would have 32 seconds at 16 shadow mastery. once this is over you will be left with 53 health. of course this can be prolonged with enchant mods etc. so you will have to be quick enough in getting your skills out and making sure shadow form is cast without being interrupted. you also have the problem of rounding them all up. while they are scattered they can be a pain in the ass to get together, i have had many cases where rubberbanding has left my dead body being vigourly humped by raptors somewhere else across the map.

as an ele you will have 25-23 seconds depending at what attribute you put shadow mastery. i have always found 11 points is plenty. after this you will be left with 41-38 health. Now with the shortened time you have, you counter it with the plus of having 16 in fire magic, which makes the killing a lot quicker. which means the raptors have less chance of scattering once your AoE starts staking effect. this simply means your dealing a higher amount of damage in a shorter space of time, making the killing quicker, countering for the lack of shadow form.

The main reason i have died oh so many times doing this run is after everyhting is dead, i always run around and pick up the drops. but the sin boss the broodmother wont die, and there is always a few stragglers areound to get those last few hits in after shadow form has finished. if your going to do this purely for survivor without collecting drops, it is easily possible, but still very risky.

i wouldnt suggest doing it this way. if you want to grind it out, stick with kilroy. or as i mentioned, make a high armor midline, like the para or ranger and play the game. i am currently doing a bit of both. a vanquish here and there, with progression in the story, and then when i get bored do a few runs in kilroys.

You've got a point there, but

I dont use the fire magic build, but the earth one, with Sliver Armor, so they dont run away all.

The build I use is:

Dash (for getting to the cave)
Glyph of Swiftness
Deadly Paradox
Shadowform
Deaths Charge
Sliver Armor
Intensity
Air of Superiority

With GoS, DP, 16 Shadow Arts and +20% ench mod you can maintain Shadow Form constantly. With Shadow Form up you cant die, and you cast it while entering the cave..so I dont see the problem of this build with getting L.S.

yeah, thats true, theres also the e/me sliver build you can use too. but i think its still risky. as it is with any farm, there always a greater chance of you dying. maybe its just me, but i dont trust those raptors :P

Raptor farming is good....but still rly risky lol

Imagine if u were at 1336000 exp and u actually screw up with sf or something happens during run..that would suck lol
