Hello my fellow Ampers!
I have a few questions about the game, and here they come.
1. How much time consuming is AoC? Example: For those who have played both WoW and GW, is it similar to one or the other or somewhere in between?
2. I read that it's realm divided, like WoW? If yes, where do you guys play? And is there a guild?
3. How's the combat system and freedom in the game? can you swim, jump, climb so and so forth?
I'm really considering in trying it out, so any help and input on the game would be appreciated.

It's about as time consuming as an average MMO if you want to get anywhere very fast.
It is realm divided, I play on the US server Dagoth but there is an Amp guild on the Euro server Hyrkania called "Ampian Forerunners".
The combat system is extremely fun and you actually have to pay attention to use combos, spells are a little more basic just click2cast but still fun. The game is very free, you can fall, swim, jump, climb and all that.
Hai, im a noob.

1. Depends... on how much you want to play =P. After 50, the game is 85% grind so its harder to lvl after that.
2. Yeah the realms are split up like WoW. Like TFO said, theres a EU guild, but none for NA players atm, theres two of us on doomsayer (pvp).
3. Combat system is 100% new, real time, have to swing your own weapon aka no auto attacking!, meele combos etc. Casters are still point and shoot but you can't have it perfectly. swim jump etc all in there, but you can't attack people in water, so kinda annoying if your trying to gank someone...

Ty for the replies guys, but about my first question. So let's say I only have maybe 1-2 hours every other day to play, will I be able to at least get something accomplished? Maybe like do a dungeon (If there are any), group quest, boss kill?
Thanks again!

Pretty sure you will, PuGs are already killing the T1 raid bosses, and getting it done in like an hour so you will be able to get stuff done.

The time consuming part really depends on your personality. If you played WoW and did a whole bunch of raids and such, you probably will be grinding up the levels due to the amount of time you will put into the game. However, if you played a more mellow MMO like CoX, you might put in an hour a day, give or take some. On the other hand the game is very free, has realms, and is instanced.(Since the loads are fast and the zones adjacent to yours generally look the same, it doesn't feel as if it is instanced.)
Edit: For clarity

Ty again for the replies. It's instanced? Like GW instanced? You go out to a map alone and find no other player out there?

Yes and no, it's instancing is most like EverQuest II.
Meaning Overland maps that are shared, at two difficulty settings.
Some Instances are communal (multi-group), some are personal (single group) and some are solo.
There's no seamless world / contignent though.

I have yet to see what justifies it being more expensive than WoW or CoH to play, when I bought the game and asked about timecards and the guy in the shop looked at the price (£26 for 60 days compared to £18.99 for 60 days on all other cards) the guy in the shop said 'wow thats a bit of a rip off innit?' I tend to agree, guess those pretty visuals should justify it ? (not) I know theres a few things that need to be improved before I pay the higher than your average MMO price. Still theres lots to like during the first 'free' month :) Could the higher price be a way of stopping all the kids using pocket money to buy the cards and keep the playerbase 'mature' ? (sarcasm there in case you didnt spot it).
I like the instancing system in this game and as long as you keep your machine defragged and you have enough RAM the loadings aren't too painful, it seems that some of the instancing needs to be rethought due to higher lvl players camping lower level bosses but overall my experience of it has been just fine and dandy. It's nothing like GW instancing so be prepared for the woes of boss camping etc, respawns on the whole seem ok though so nothing too different from what your used to on WoW.
I'd say give it a go, I thoroughly enjoy the quests and the first 20lvls are like playing a solo RPG online, a very good RPG at that. I rerolled my necro earlier in the week and thoroughly enjoyed doing all the quests in the starter town of Tortage, did every single one before leaving which got me to lvl 22, when I did move on I found that a whole heap more quests where avilable than when I left with my previous Necro at lvl 20, it's worth taking that extra bit of time in Tortage, the following lvls are much more enjoyable and quicker because of it.

Ehm, I guess time-card prices are different from pay-by-CC then? I'm used to paying 15 Euro's for games from NCSoft, SOE, Turbine, Codemasters and yes, Blizzard. So, what's the deal here? 60 Day time-cards go for 1.5 times the 30 day sub. That's 33% off. CC rates don't go to 2/3 the 1 month fee until you hit a three or six month payment plan. Last I knew Time-Cards followed the same lines. They do for both NCSoft and SOE's cards and I thought it was Blizzard who wanted to raise their sub to above the standardized 15,- for both Dollars and Euro's to 19,99 claiming their premium content deserves it. So what gives?
Oh wait, you're on that wacky island that insists on doing stuff the wrong way round, like driving on the left and warm beer ;-)
Seriously though. Your statements are opposed to the World order of MMO's as I know them. Something's not right.

Weird, over here time-cards are quite abit more then paying by CC (44.95 2 months)... somethings odd with that.

As Game is my local retailer I go on their prices (which usualy stand true in other retailers such as HMV), the prices below are the web prices, I'll list the instore price next to them for the ones I know.
WoW 60 day timecard £18.49 instore : £18.99
LOTRO 60 day timecard £18.99
NCSoft 60 day timecard £17.99 instore: £18.99
AoC 60 day timecard £19.99 instore: £26.00
Guess us weird islanders got it good then? But it's always been the same with Game, they often try to get around the manufacturers minimum price and try to charge below it often leading to threatened court action.....I recall them offering Orange Box for £19.99 on it's release but after a few days the price suddenly shot up to £29.99, I guess someone gave them a slapped wrist. They are probably the UK's largest game retailer.

Yes, and no. When I convert your 60 day prices, they're actually comparable to 2 months at 15 Euro's. Why the 7 pound difference between in-store and listed price on the AoC card? Seems the local branch is ripping you off :-)
