Watch the first vid again, it says: Hire NPC guards.
those can defend your castle/city =]
I saw this vid half a year ago or so, but i always wondered. What do you get from the quests? exp or money? Because it all comes down to skill (right? o.O) so money to buy better armor (okay that seems alright). money to buy better weapons (higher crit chance maybe?) or exp points to not gain levels and don't get stronger? I'm confussled here.
B/c some player might have this awesome sword and armor, b/c he's a total Darkfall geek, and goes around killing everyone. (It's 'make love not warcraft' all over again o.O)
explanations are much appreciated :D
Watched this awhile ago, thought it was cool then I decided it would be a decent but over-hyped game.
How so? Think about it, is being COMPLETELY free to do what you want really that great? What if someone was free to walk in your house, kill you(or whoever owns it), and they become the new owner? Would that be cool?
Yes I realize its a game but I dont want to play a game where if I want to go quest I have to hire NPCs and rely on them to defend my castle. Hmmm....Lets go quest for 30 mins *you leave*. People attack your castle *you get a message* NP, NPCs can handle them. *Another message pops up* What? Another attack!? *the few NPCs left from the last attack cannot fend off the second attack* awww fawk there goes my castle :(

well i would imagine much like gw and the people who idle in the GH to chat with people could also do so in these "castles"
and if your castle gets bum faucked oh well, take it back
It would be an annoyance for casual players though. They get on, spend 30 mins to take their castle back, then play for another hour or two, only to loose their castle as soon as they leave.
Looks and sounds amazing!!! I'd have to agree with others though in saying that your castle will be seiged when you leave, it's a lot like lineage 2, when I was in my clan whom owned two castles I left and we lost one because BOTH was getting seiged....but in lineage 2 they have a seige time that the player declares, if they put something amongst that line into this game it'd be cool, like they could only capture cities at like x time until x time.....
Really though that looks amazing! Best thing I like about it is the aiming, it actually requires some sort of skill!

RE: Very Fun RPG game
i think you guys are seeing problems when there aren't any...
they said declare war, so i think the system will be like this:
- declare war
- other town excepts
- you fight, example you get 1h to conquer the city, depends on size
- you win/loose
if you succesfully defended the city you unlock a new towns hall or something and when you win you get the city...
something like that i think
gz.

Whoa.
If they can make these promises real this game will rock.
It would be like a fantastic mix of Guild Wars, WoW, Savage, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Warcraft.

I like the part that you don't have to be a warrior, like in most games, but that u can be a crafter or thief or something.
and the aim, and click fighting is awesome too, like in oblivion.

If thats the case then it will be much better for the casual players, the only problem I see with that is what if you never accept the challenges? Does that mean you keep your city (even if its not growing) forever? I think they would almost have to have some sort of system that either forces you to fight once or twice a week, or takes it away if you havnt fought in a certain amount of time, otherwise you would get people that would win a city then keep it for as long as they want to.
Aside from that I agree the class system is a great idea, it is kinda how I wish games were made, where theres no particular class selection but you get better in certain areas depending on what actions you take. Such as someone constantly using a bow will have better accuracy than someone who rarely uses a bow. Then if you want to change later you just start using different weapons/abilities and your character slowly "forgets" the old stuff.

Uh, all I get is two large square boxes in place of which I think the videos are supposed to be. Any insight?
You probably dont have flash player or whatever youtube uses installed. Can you view youtube videos on the actual youtube site? If not then your missing a required plugin to view the videos.
the fact that theres so much to it says to me it'l be very time consuming to get very little done, the combat system to me diddnt look all to intresting either.
id rather have one game that focuses on certain things instead of havin lots of simple things.
guess i cant talk much on it til iv tried it out though might be really good, but so far thats where im at, its not convinced me i need to have the game
I have seen from $5-$15.99 per month. $40-$50 to purchase the game. Even saw a character slot one time fee of $150-$200 and no monthly. Still to early to say, just have to wait. Game looks neat imo:)

no, because the citizens will wander away. there aren't enough supplies etc there, so you will move on to bigger city's that do grow. you need to fight to keep your city growing and to keep your people in the city/guild
