Recently my dad got a new computer with the fancy stuff to run all four Guild Wars expansions. However the computer i play with now at my mother's house is... not so great. On my fathers computer i can actually see the armor, faces, weapons of players. On my mom's computer, i see a shiny glow of armor for everyone.
I do not know much about Graphics cards and computers and what not but i went through an online System Requirements Lab program that checked my computer for what it was capable with and compared it to the system requirements for Guild Wars and all the expansions. The results showed that for the minimum requirements the Video Card was the source of my problem.
The minimum requirements for Guild Wars requires a Geforce 3 series graphics card. I have some junky Nvidia TNT2 card that is listed on Guild Wars "incompatible" graphics card lists, and at a price check runs at about a package of gum and a snickers bar price wise. So, i researched online and found a Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 Graphics Card. I'm wondering if i purchase it and stick it inside my computer if i can run Guild Wars and all of its Expansions.

If anyone can help its greatly apreciated, i've been playing Guildwars for a long time and it irks me when players in my guild and alliance go out on dungeons, missions, in other campaigns.

What kind of budget and quality are you looking for? If your hoping to run anything but low quality your going to have to spend a little more than the one your looking at. As you mention it requires GeForce 3 or higher, that means thats what it takes to be able to play the game at the very lowest settings with usually a pretty crappy frame rate.
Whats your budget? For as little as $50 you can get some decent cards for just GW, they would likely be able to handle high quality on lower resolutions with 20+ FPS (fluid enough to be able to play).

Thank you so much for your help, unfortunately after talking to my folks about the computer they freaked out and decided that i shouldnt upgrade the computer unless its for school work >_<
In the nice perfect world i would take your advice and use it the best i could, but unfortunately Aduhlts win again.

Ah that sucks......seek a degree in Game and Simulation programming(when you get that far), computer upgrades can be written off on taxes, games as well(claim them as research for your field of study). Besides, then it would be upgrades for your school work. :P

poor pooor poor you 0.o
i mean that computer is even worse then mine, and i already play GW at FPS <5 and all grfx on low... i really feel for you.
but soon i'm building a new computer who can play crysis without any problem on high :P
ontopic: as said, it'll probably play gw with everything on low, but!!! check the requirement of EotN because they are higher then proph. i can acces all off proph but none of the dungeons in EotN, so look out for that.
you can better buy in secret for 30$ a nice card and put it in in secret :P

Hmm.. that really sucks.. I had a comp which runned GW, but only at around 15max FPS with lowest graphics.
Got new comp now that runs Crysis at max graphics with around 60 FPS. :)
