Huge hail in Netherlands (image heavy)

Yesterday something so weird happend that I decided to make a topic about it. It was around 14:00 and I was home alone, my parents were visiting someone (wich turned out to be a good thing). It started to rain pretty hard and after a few minutes it started to hail, with thunder and lightning. Nothing wrong with that, I like some nature violence.
After a few minutes I suddenly heared a loud bang, like someone was throwing rocks to our window. Since I live right next to a school with "problem children" I first thought it was them.. and then realised it was Sunday.
I went to check what it was and I couldn't believe my eyes. Hailstones of 4 cm came rushing down on our roofs. It lasted for around 10 minutes and after that it looked like I just survived a hurricane.
Everybody walked outside looking dazzled at the enormous ravage. All cars had bumps and our caravan looked like it was parked on a golf court.
This storm was only near Arnhem and came out of nowhere.. we never have this kind of storms in the Netherlands!

Damage so far in neighborhood:
2 people in hospital;
5 broken windows;
46 damaged cars.

During and after the storm I took some pictures with my dads mobile phone (forgot it was also able to make video's -.-). I apologise for the size of the pictures (didn't know how else to do it, maybe admin has an idea).

I have heard about it yea; but about 10 miles from where you live (arnhem) there was nothing; at least not in my backyard :S

Kinda amazing though; and people who have walked outside must have ducked for cover with hail like that O.O

Yeah that's why there are 2 ppl in the hospital.. they got one of those on hun "knar".

Had the same thing! I was walking with the dog, and suddely it started to hail. They were only 2-3 cm here. Found some shelter, waited for 5 minutes, and then it was over. Not that much damage here (live in Oss!)

Where I live at in the midwest US that is about normal size hail. We have 2 storms already this year with golf ball up to baseball size hail, and its only mid June. The force of mother nature is truly awesome. But if you don't respect it you will end up dead.

Hmm I havent noticed anything here (Rotterdam), however I did hear a lot of noise, not sure if it was the hail.

Haha, it was awesome! My dad got one of those things on his head, it turned out blue and stuff. :B

Was windy all day here, but no big clouds whatsoever, it really only went over the lower provinces and then into Germany what i saw on radar images.

That doesn't look all that big... but i wasn;t there. When i lived with my Grandparents we had hail about the size of my granddad's fist... luckily all the vehicles where in the garage

I know, there are much bigger hail stones but we never ever have this kind of weather. Usualy hail stones are ½ cm and it doesn't hail a lot here at all ;)

I woke up this morning to big hail storm. Though I closed the window and kept sleeping and just woke up again. (location is Finland) Though right next to baltic sea. Might have been the same storm..

On topic- that's some pretty crazy hail, kinda reminds me of a scene from The Day After Tomorrow. I'm surprised the car, in one of those pics, wasn't more damaged or more people were seriously hurt.
