Hi guys, I need your help with something to clear a misunderstanding up.
I was under the belief that how much damage I did depended on my weapon skill i.e If I'm using a two handed mace and its 1 skill level, I will be doing puny damage compared to a mace skill level of 225.
I was in LakeShire hitting some mobs and my brother asked why I was there =S When I told him what he cracked up laughing...
Guys could you clear this up for me? Does weapon skill have any effect on your total overall damage?

Weapon skill only depicts on the accuracy. If I recall....

Lets say you have a 2h mace for a 70. And you have 0 in 2h maces. You would miss every attack. But when you have the ùax you do damage

well if you're talking about druids and when they are shape shifted, then you could have zero in weapon skill that it wouldn't matter same goes for chants.
Enchants that work on proc won't work for druids when they are shape shifted.

Well, hit rating and expertise rating increase the chance that you'll hit a mob, but as far as weapon skill goes for calculation purposes, a druid always has his "weapon" skill maxed out while in a feral form, even though there is no bar to track it with in the character tab.

Their natural weapons ^_^
When they are shape shifted they don't hit with their weapons, instead they hit with their "paws" which naturally have maxed weapon skill and 1.00 attack speed for cat and 2.5 for bear. Weapon's dps don't matter for them, what matters is the attributes in them, talents and so on and so forth.

My weapon sillz are very good for a lvl 28 NE druid.!! I hit like 106's and higher. highes was 155!

Higher weapon skill means you will be hitting the mobs near your level alot more, AND it means your crit chance will go up (not by alot but it still counts).
Also, in pvp if you have 0 in 2handed maces for example, it will be like you had 350 (at 70), though you will not have the same amount of crit so it's a good idea to level it.
