Came home from work this morning to find out this news. Very sad day in the world of comedy. RIP George, you earned it through many years of making us all laugh at ourselves.
LOS ANGELES - Acerbic standup comedian and satirist George Carlin, whose staunch defense of free speech in his most famous routine "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television" led to a key Supreme Court ruling on obscenity, has died.
Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, went into St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica on Sunday afternoon complaining of chest pain and died later that evening, said his publicist, Jeff Abraham. He had performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. He was 71.

He is one the best Comedians....ever. Look him up on to youtube and listen to his stuff. Some of the things he came up with are/were so funny because it was about things we do in every day life.

He was my favorite comedian hands down.
He was ground breaking and just on the other side of the edge. His 7 words you can't say on television is still one of the best routines out there years later.
If you haven't had a chance to listen to his stuff check him out on youtube or just google for him. There is a lot of stuff out there.
The true test of any technology is its ability to obtain porn.

Yeah i saw this on Yahoo! this morning, at a quick glance i thought it said George Clooney. But after reading about George Carlin i remembered who he was and recalled hearing his great routines.

either euro's or youngin's or both ;)
George Carlin came to do a show at our city last year, freakin' hilarious guy.
he was a profound, lude, crude, rude comedian that especially took shots at the sissyness that this world is becoming, what with all the green cars and people worried about getting sick from eating food that's hit the floor.
one of his best sketches ever was on weak names for boys and how parents are naming their kids really stupid names that lead to ass kickings in tougher schools.
George Carlin's Weak Boys Names
This is a must watch. 10/10!

I wish it was George Clooney......Damn this sucks! He was one of the few comedians that said what he wanted to, and didn't give a damn what people thought. He was one of my idols, along with Richard Pryor. RIP to both of em. He will be missed.

what's really hilarious about Carlin was when he was "Mr. Conductor" on the Kids TV Show Shiny Time Station in the early 90's
i know a lot of little kids that beg their parent's for "Thomas the Train" sets to this day. that was all shiny time station and george, that crude bastard was the most lovable little mini-man ever. hehe.
RIP.

A sad day indeed. I grew up with his humor, though not in his hay day but still. I loved the way he choped away at soscieties policticly correct views on everything. I mean come on the 7 words your never supose to say. I mean now he humor is/was moot but back then he was the Chris rock, Dave Atell, Dave Cheppelle you name it. I for one know he and St. Peter are having one hell of a time upstairs.
For those that don't know him, check out utube or old HBO specials. he was the guy giving a BJ for a ride in Jay and Silent Bob Strike back.
