Before you read any further, keep this in mind. I am not looking for a flame topic. If you want to flame, fair enough; go talk on myspace about it.
I am also not insulting people in any way, no admins, no members, no one.
Yes, I also know there's been several threads like this before, so don't start about that.
This thread got locked because there was /trolling/ in it. It wasn't even close to arguing.
What's the problem with arguing? You can't always be nice to eachother every single minute. Life would be something where everyone always agree with eachother, people would have no opinions and whatsoever.
A forum is here to discuss things. Discussing is only a small step away from arguing. I understand that admins want to avoid flaming, but not every agruement has flaming in it. If this is the reason why threads get locked then we could as well call this site GWG#2.
You, admins, could as well edit the OP and make a footnote where you make a note, something like this:

Problem solved.
Please, for the sake of humanity, don't lock threads unnessesary. Arguements are good. Without arguing there wouldn't be anything like politics, there would be complete censorship.

No. Wrong. You can't always say "People did this in the past, they will do it again." If they made a fight before, just see what will happen. You tend to think bad about people in this case. Don't. People are not always looking for arguements.

i am soooo tempted just to lock this thread for my own amusement.
but, as skittle said, the question had been answered, there was chat about those pesky adverts again, and it was a thread in decline about a 2 second clicking gap or summat.
i personally have no problem with people having a good meaty discussion. where people can counter points and give opinions with a reasonable explantaion.
but did i see it in that thread? no... no i didnt. i did not see it. i looked up and down a few times just to double check and did not see it....
wait lemme check again... nope, sorry. lemme go grab my reading glasses quickly...
uhuh, ya, hmmm. nope still dont see it. if there is a topic that was going somewhere, that was not it.

what was there to actually "argue" or "discuss" about? the op got his answers. there was nothing but the usual bickering left.
I like to watch the drama on these forums, so I understand why Skittle closed the thread, it's alot easier than letting it go for a few pages and keep editing a billion pointless posts with content that's not suitable for the site. It was common sense. You know, that thing that tells you not to put a cat in a microwave after the first time?

Anyway, the thread wasn't locked because the OP got his answer, it got locked because there was a little trolling in it, pointed out in Skittle's last post in that thread.
Stan, I'm not mad about that topic in particular, but I see alot of threads getting locked because there's a little argument in it. There's no need for editing posts, you can as well make a post saying that it's over with the flaming. Alot of topics go offtopic, that's life.

Trolling or an argument? :P
You know, after a few pages of trolling, people usually get frustrated and start to do all sorts of nasty stuff, like swearing (which isn't allowed here, afaik) so it's soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier just to lock threads like that than wait for a few hours and then start to edit, find a new post, edit, find a new post, edit etc for a few pages.
When people ignore the rules, and they get a reminded of it in the form of a mod posting that you teddybears need to cuddle up get it over with, it lasts about five seconds.
It's like
Person 1: I liek candeh
Person 2: Luls, candeh is for girls. chocolate pwns candeh.
Person 1: nowai!
Person 2: yawai! Nub!
Person 1: *swears*
Mod: now now, plx behave, m'kay?
Person 1&2: okido..... meh
Person 1: Psst, hey....
Person 2: ye?
Person 1: candeh!
Person 2: *more flying fawkes*

there are a lot of topics that go into arguments that arent locked. as long as the argument holds some weight with the topic in hand.

I love how thats the excuse every single SM here uses. What, you guys psychic now? How the hell do you know whats going to happen? Maybe I should go call Miss Cleo to see whether or not thats a fit excuse to use for every goddamn situation. Im not talking about the thread thats being discussed here. It's every single one that gets locked. Every time someone asks why, its the same excuse over and over. At least be original if youre going to try and cover yourself up.

Using for over 2 years, ADS seem to never show their faces ever again.
EDIT: Hmm I've never seen an ad on this site since ive been here... because i just took at least 2 days of blocking every ad that tried to sneak by me, kept blocking, they eventually stopped coming...

Its not really that. Those ads are only exploiting the sick people for money. Thats what makes me sick. Its all taken care of for me now anyways.

it was me or the paper. and i made my choice...
and as far as locking topics goes, just dont be a douche and you should be fine. topics arent locked because were all bored or my finger slipped while i was browsing through an issue of 'The Sexy Times Magazine'.
if you cant work out why topics are locked you will inevitably have more locked because you are doing the same thing.

You can do it on the old firefox as well. Right click--block all images from that URL. ^.^
