Well I've been kinda of bored of Guildwars last few months and with exams the only thing keeping me online was my guild, and with that in safe hands of one of my best mates I've decided to take a pretty much final break from Guildwars. I've started playing Age of Conan last few weeks like a few others here from amp and it seems pretty epic, so hopefully this will be my new Guildwars for at least the next few months. I'm of course not leaving amp, I'll still be using the forums because no matter how many e dramas and arguements there are I still love the place, so it's not like you've got rid of me quite yet I'm afraid =) And to be fair how many topics are that Guildwars related these days anyway, so I should still be able to post just fine.
Well yeah that's all fine and dandy but I'm sure not that many are interested to know, but lets get to the itneresting stuff. I havn't fully decided on this yet but I'm thinking if I'm not going back to Guildwars I might have some stuff to give away that i'm not going to use, stuff in the form of several tormented sets and other high end golds + plat. Please don't hold me to my word on this so what i'm going to do is see whether Conan keeps up the pace over the next few months and if it does then some of you may have the chance to get your hands on a few treasures via some sort of competition or something.
Anyway for now you're still going to be seeing the same amount of me, I just won't be online much for those of you I talk to in game. Sorry Stan I know it's going to be tough without my epic online presence but y'know, you're just going to have to come to terms with it. ;)

AoC seems to be the new home for quite a few of us ex GW players :-)
Hope your having fun in Hyboria, despite all the Necro nerfs and the bugs I'm still enjoying it loads.

Thanks all :D Yeah AoC seems to be pretty sick so far, even if the bugs / glitches can be annoying sometimes. But hey, who really cares when that bridge who's the only thing between you and a 400ft drop suddenly decides it's no longer a bridge =) Wyat I'll probably PM you if I decide to organise a contest, for ideas / approval.

Shit is SSBB out? Must buy... Stan get yourself a Wii so I can brawl you online :D the bleeding AoC servers are down for 5 hours, so I need something to do or I'm gonna have to resort to actually doing some coursework :/

Really? I thought WoW was like $9 or $10...Must have something else on my mind then. I may have to give AoC a shot if I can find a free trial somewheres. Everyone says its so great :P

Well I'm going by UK prices, WoW is £8 a month here a believe and so is AoC. May be different for US. :D

There are a lot of bugs but I haven't been affected by any gamebreaking ones, the storyline isn't fractured but you do pretty much have to grind 70-80 which is extremely ghey because my main is 72... no solo quests FTL!

Lots of bugs: Yes, but mostly quite funny. The only really annoying ones are the quest bugs where you do all but one objective then find the last one is bugged.
Fractured storyline: Not really I'd say
Grinding: Only if you want to, and possibly in the last few levels, still only level 47 now.
Epicly fun and something different: Hell yes, it's pretty awesome imo, I just can;t get enough of those lovely fatalities!

No weh!You liez! Kinda sounds like Viking: Battle for Asgard with a mix of Mortal Kombat? xD Nah I doubt it fits my taste in Blood and Gore as much as Mortal Kombat and Viking :) Still think i might wanna check it out. Gonna go see if some videos on YouTube could shake me into it.

I think you got your games mixed up. That's LotRO at launch you're talking about. But as there's some similarities between the two games at launch so you're forgiven :-)
Oh, and $15,- is more or less the standard monthly fee. Blizzard tried to raise it a while back but I don't think they succeeded. Sadly it's also 15 Euro's which amounts to $23,- for US based companies. Blizzard's luvin' the low Dollar.
For a GW player a monthly fee may seem like a lot of money, but the funny thing is, with these things you get what you pay for. With GW that's not much in between expansions. Besides nerfs that is.

Yup, a rule of thumb for MMORPG Marketing departments is that releasing Free Trial codes within six months of launch gives out a sign that your game is hurting subscriber-wise. History bears us out on that with Anarchy Online, EverQuest II, DDO & Tabula Rasa. PotBS is trying to hold out on doing it and Vanguard didn't bother because most people do look at the news before downloading a 25 Gigabyte Free Trial client :-)
You see, the first wave of subscribers will buy the game without a free trial because 60% already went throguh a free trial in the form of Closed & Open Beta's and the other 40% consists people being convinced by friends. In order to enlarge this group of friends a bit, you usually get Buddy-Keys to enlist the waverers. Free Trial Keys known to be about 60% less effective as Buddy-Keys and that's not counting the 85% of the Trial accounts that's being used for RMT purposes instead. Buddy Keys only have a 50-50% chance of being abused for RMT purposes.
Funcom (AoC's Developer & Publisher) has chosen to not have the Buddy-Keys active at launch, in order to let the initial rush settle a bit. I expect them to become available in the next two weeks as we just passed the first month mark and people have had to pay up for more time or cancel out on the 23rd for the US and 26th for us Europeans.

If I've bought a game, I'd like to actually own it and be able to play it when I want. I don't see how games like Guild Wars, Warcraft III, Age of Mythology, Age of Empires III and many others can have dedicated servers that you can play on when you want, for free, yet other online games decide they need to charge. It's nothing to do with upkeep of servers, it is simply pure greed.
In a game with inter-player competition, balance isn't just important, it's necessary. Of course, time and time again it's been proven that the majority here hate when they can't instantly kill monsters for thousands of gold, so I won't bother saying anything more on this.
