I would like to draw your attention here.
At the bottom of the page, they not that although they had done beta testing in the early stages of GW, they want the game to be better before they start beta testing it. So not this year, but hopefully next year!
Sorry if this is old news, just thought I would share it :)
Edit: And after a quick search, I find it already has been posted. Oh well, let this be news to those who didn't see the other post.

I've red it aswell. Beta pushed back from early 2008 tot early 2009...what else can we expect? >_<

No surprise.
If ArenaNet is staying tru to their own form in this, and there's no reason for them to deviate from their methods, you'll see and hear very little from the actual Beta.
Then about a month or maybe two before the actual release, you'll get a "Beta" weekend which will be 99% the same as the finished product on release.
Don't expect much player / fan involvement in the Beta process. ArenaNet's very picky about who they involve in that.
