Realtemp vs Core Temp vs Everest

Core Temp and Everest shows the same on my new E8400 CPU and Realtemp about 10 Degrese (spelling) less then the others.

U got any idea of which is the most accurate?

RE: Realtemp vs Core Temp vs Everest

Just 50/50 them? if one's ten degrees lower, then just think its 5 degrees lower, that way their both off by 5 degrees.

one says 10, one says 20, what do you estimate? 15.

RE: Realtemp vs Core Temp vs Everest

this thread kind of explains why:

explaination

roughly, its all down to a processor value that the programs use, and it isnt given out by intel, so the programs kind of guess it up to a point. the value also seems to be different from model to model and even from processors in the same range. at the moment, it doesnt look like you'll be able to find the definitive answer until intel publish all the relevant data.

RE: Realtemp vs Core Temp vs Everest

the only 100% accurate way of getting a "true" temperature is using an external temperature probe between the heatsink and cpu die, but this will only give you the temp of the outside of the core, and an overall temp for a multi core system, not individual core temps. also with the protective part on the top of all processors these days that will also interefere, not too mention the tim/thermal paste.

soooooo,

the only thing to do is use your temp readings as a rough guide on how effective your cooling is, to measure the difference between water and air cooling say.

i cant stress this enough it really doesnt matter what temp your cpu is running at as long as it's not high.
