Okay, I recently added a new HDD to my family computer. This was not a problem. But the problem is that the CD/DVD RW drive does not show up! Any ideas on how to fix this?
The PC I have been working on is a Dell 1100/B110 Dimension desktop if that helps
HELP!!!!

Check the jumper settings on the drives. Either have them both set for cable select or one for master and the other for slave. That's the first thing to look for.

I try to avoid using cable select. Set one to master, one to slave, that goes for your CD/DVD drive as well. IMO all IDE devices should be set as one or the other. Each IDE channel can have 1 master and 1 slave.

Ron is absolutely correct. Cable select does not always work. Jumper settings are 100% more accurate. Most paper manuals that come with drives have the settings inside on a little chart, and some drives even have the jumper settings printed on the label.

How many drives do you have now? Windows can only handle 4 IDE devices, no matter how many ports are on the motherboard.
