New Guild

Hey everyone,

I just started a new guild called the little little duckies in the [Pond] (any zefrank fans out there?) and so yeah, I'm looking for guildless people or people are looking to change into a more relaxed guild

I'm not hugely active, especially during the school year so I would need some good officers to keep stuff together,

I hope for the guild just to be friendly and be doing stuff like, AB and TA, GvG once we get established, and PvE too.

So if you're interested hit me up in game, my ign is Honeynut Ritualists.

oh and also if you have advice for the new guild I would appreciate any you have too

RE: New Guild

I started a guild/alliance with friends about 2 weeks ago, but recruiting didn't start until 2 days ago, we're at +100 members now across 4 guilds.

The startup phase instead of focusing on Members, get your stuff ready, a cape, a GH, and possibly, an alliance, make sure the alliance you are in is friendly, trusted (to some margin) and you know what they expect of you and vice versa, you don't want to run into surprises when they suddenly tell you how much faction you should have or how much members and so forth.

Get a Forum, its to damn easy, and you don't have to spend any cash on it, you can use Invisionfree, Zetaboards and PHPbb, my advice is take the new Zetaboards, it has a friendlier interface and can be managed even if your completely new to forum management.

Get a website too if you want, often you can use a simple thing as the ''entrance'' of your guild, where you got information, news articles, thingies and gadgets including links to handy websites and ofcourse said forum.

I'd suggest Freewebs, im sure there are others, but Freewebs is easy to use, you can use pre-made templates, and don't need any true experience in HTML editing. If you do, its welcome, but not needed.

Color up the forum a bit, use custom skins, from places like Invisionskinzone which also has skins for Zetaboard forums, its really easy to customize your own forum, and adds to the general atmosphere, makes a guild look ''settled'', thats what people like, a guild that looks sturdy and won't disband just overnight.

THEN you can go recruiting, be careful but also a bit reckless, expirment, promote some new members, get them if they want into recruiting, get some steady members, a true guild Core, a proper guild has several layers (i dare you to known all your 100 guildmembers through & through), often the inner layer people define as the ''core'', which usually consists of about 10-20 members and officers, you all mostly know eachother to some bit, and have gamed together on several occasions, often the core is the most active part.

Then comes the outer layer, these are the members that Are present, but often not on a daily basis, and if so, often aren't socially adept and don't go hang around and chatting in the guild/alliance chat, they can be nice, but often you'll have to talk to THEM before they get to you.

Say you got 30 members after a while, then its time to start demoting perhaps a few, and promote more promiment members, your ''current'' officers probably aren't all too reliable, or experienced, demote them to member, it might cause a stir with them, so prepare yourself for that, Whatever you do, THIS IS A MUST, as leader your the one kicking sometimes, and you just have to shrug it off, having 22 officers and just 5 members will not work.
The average/default ratio is 1:8, 1 officer for every 8 members, this is average from MY OWN experiences, your can vary.

I think that covers up the basics, as i said, your the leader, you deal out the punches, and its not always fun to do, but it has to be done unless you want people to stand in the way of your guild and its progress.

EDIT:

If you need it, i've got a special offer, im in a good mood and its able, i can give a voice-chat server with reasonable codecs and a few slots, a separate channel too, you can PM me about it, the last alliance that used it seems to have dissapeared into thin air, so my offer has opened, and this thread reminded me right so.

RE: New Guild

alright, thanks for all the tips

I'm familiar with freewebs so setting one of those up shouldnt be a problem and same with the forums, I'll get on that tonight probably

That's really impressive how many members you have already in that little time, where do you go to recruit? Do you go for the people just starting or do you look in more middle of the game places or what?

and no thanks on the voice chat thing, I know I wouldn't use it lots so I don't want to take slots if I'm probably not gonna use it, but really thanks a lot

I was with more people on the start already, yesterday we had 7 recruiters all day long in both American and European districts, its just street recruiting, we use Macro key's instead of normal CTR+V, so we just press one button, message send, and travel to the next town, most recruiters follow a pattern for each campaign, except eye of the north:

Tyria hot-spots: Lions Arch, Beacons Perch, Yaks Bend, Piken Square, Ascalon City, Fort Ranik, Sardelac Sanitarium

Cantha hot-spots: Kaineng Centre, The Marketplace, Zen Dajiun, Seitung Harbor, Shing Jea, Tsumei Village, Ran Musu

Elona hot-spots: Kamadan, Chaijbek Village, Sunspear Hall, The Astralarium, Champions Dawn, Beknur Harbor, Kodlunu Hamlet, Jokanur Diggins, and Yohlon Haven finishing at Sunspear Sanctuary,

Keep in mind map-travelling might cause you to miss certain whisps, so if you map travel very rapidly you might actually miss some chat.

I have not bought it yet, well really I don't want to buy anything and have Guild Wars 2 come out the next week, so I will buy Guild Wars 2, anyways, whats the guild like? I will make my own guild and I heard about this alliance talk I played a game with alliances and they are awesome. A guild has several things, for 100 Gold, you can make a Guild Name plus a 4 Letter tag, for 2000 Gold, you can make a cape, you can choose the colors, the style, the emblem and the detail on it (Detail like Flames, or Circles, and so on)
Next is a Guild Hall, you can buy those for around 13-22K depending on the price of a Sigil, right now its 17K.
As you make your guild either Luxon or Kurzick, members can via your Guild Hall enter the Alliance Battle Arena's, and donate faction to your guild, mind you, every 24 hours 10% of your faction rating dissapears.

I presume this is a sarcastic joke, as GW2 wont come out until next year, atleast thats what lots of places say, they havent announced anything at all yet, but the beta's wont be this year, count on that.

As of this moment, a maxmimum of 100 members can be recruited in a guild, and a maximum of 10 guilds in total in an alliance, with 1 Guild as leader and 9 guilds as Allies. The main guild also has its cape displayed when you press the Guild Menu and look at alliance status.

I might warn you, if you have dreams of granduer, the best way would be to level up your characters first, and then understand the basics of the game, a Guild Leader that does not even know the game he is playing, isn't really appreciated, as Guild Leader you are the one assigned to all duties, and are expected to know more things then your peers, if you don't, you either are in just a Friends Guild, or just got lucky and got some tolerant members.

I got 200 people now, so yes, you can do that, aslong as you got great contacts in game and outside, know how to organize, got reliable trustworthy people, and then just RECRUIT RECRUIT AND RECRUIT, in 7 days i started from 15 people to 200, started with 1 guild, and as i speak now we have 7, including a GvG guild and Smurf Guild, the possibilities are endless, all you need to do is invest some time into it, time and thought.

And ofcourse know what people like to hear, or did you think the first day i was true about all events we had? Ofcourse not, right now i can, seeing the success we booked.

Anyways, i send a PM to him already, he was confused about the campaigns and such too, plus He's interested that i fund his own guild and all that, good leaders are a rare breed, everyone says they can be one, few actually are one, as you might know Chris :P

you be at the beginning, but you need to talk to an NPC who sells you a guild.
that NPC is in the middle of the storyline of each campaign

No level required, just cash, 100 Gold for a guild name plus [four] letter tag, 2000 gold for the cape, and the Sigil as i said, that depends right now its still at 17000 gold.

RE: New Guild

Yeah "we" are a VERY rare breed. Its tough to find people who know how to naturally command. I might be the noobiest person, and I am but once I understand this game I will be a very good leader. I have played over 15 different rpgs and have made guilds in them all and people think of me as a pretty good leader. This will be amazing I like having alliances. I played a rpg once before with alliances but didn't play it too long. I am going to stick to this one because if I get it, it will be my first p2p pc game.
