New Gaming App software

There's been rumors on the intarwebz regarding something new.

Although i heard that Steam has ''promised'' to support the features this application has, promises made on the Internet is like Duke Nukem Forever, hope ensues but nothing useful is the result.

A new Application has emerged, basicly it also has a little bit of what some might have known as GameAmp:Core, alt-tab browsing.
It also apparantly comes with in-game screen recording and all the mumbo-jumbo, hell its only been installed here for only 10 minutes, so i haven't checked it out myself properly.

Feel free to test it out, if you want to download it, apparantly it just wants you to register, you can use a Gmail account or (even) a fake email if you fear spam.
No Scans picked up viruses yet either.

RE: New Gaming App software

Posting using the in-game browser, its pretty sluggish, also in terms of just typing, letters have a delay, i'd say not even half a second but you notice its a bit harder to type and easier to double type letters :P

Anyways, it also comes with ingame Messenger, it can connect via MSN, ICQ or Yahoo, whichever you prefer.
Keep in mind when you use it your own MSN/ICQ/Yahoo will logout, as its another program that uses it, it also doesn't show avatars and i haven''t yet found out how to change my msn name using the ingame messenger, regardless of those flaws, its pretty neat.

For those that don't have a G15 Keyboard with LCD, it also comes with an ingame music player so you can browse your playlists, all without Alt Tabbing, so i think this is very handy for anyone who doesn''t have state of the art PC's and dislikes ALT-Tabbing due to the freeze ups/loading times.

As for the sluggishness, I usually have an idea of what I want to type, then I type it without even paying attention, then I read what I had typed to make sure I didnt make mistakes. I dont use the homerow keys and what not, but I know 90% of the time I make a mistake, when I do make a mistake, it just doesnt feel right. :P That being said, "sluggish" typing wouldnt affect me unless it doesnt catch all the letters I'm hitting.

As for the in-game messenger, they need a larger list, I prefer google talk over all those others and it doesnt look like they support it (yet).

For GW at least, I run in window-mode unless I know for a fact I wont need to access another program within the next 20 minutes.

For the people that take 3 seconds each time a game says ''Push C To Crouch'' it matters, so the sluggishness with typing might annoy them with the combination of typing/watchingkeybord + looking at post.

I myself noticed it because i look at the monitor to see which text appears, and if so are the correct letters in place, i haven't actually seen my keyboard this entire post.

It's still in beta, whatever holy that knows what might come next, endless possibilities.

Yeah, but it's not meant for Guild Wars only, if it was like that it would've been pretty useless overall, i agree why post it here? Well where else? Im comfortable on the guild wars side, GameAmp doesn't really have a homepage for general topics, only a list of the latest & greatest.

You dont need to look at the keyboard OR at your monitor to know if what your typing is correct or not.....or maybe thats just my being-on-the-computer-24/7 that gives me that ability?

I know, most games I play have had some way to run in window mode, the only difference with GW (which is why I mentioned it) is the ease of switching to and from window mode. Dont have to go into the settings or anything, just hit the button in the top right. If I really think I need access to other programs in a certain game, I usually run it in window mode. Besides, I have dual monitors so the game is always in view even when I have another program active.

No, i can type blind aswel, but im just asking you why on earth would you do that constantly?
I get your point, but on the bigger picture as i've said, not everyone on the planet can type blindfolded and perfect.
No i won't post a Utub of me blindtyping for anyone wondering, go google something.

Guild Wars is usually maximized, but i've noticed other games, such as Medieval 2 for example if you ALT TAB and go back a ''Critical Texture Error'' appears, thus ruining your entire progress in the last turn.
Many games like Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Battlefield 2 and so on are horrible when ALT-Tabbing, and then going back to them, often you are forced to wait around 5 seconds for sure, maybe even half a minute on a mid-range system.

As for Dual Monitor, you won't find much use for it, neither will I next week when i get two new LCD's, but for the 90% that don't have a dual monitor, it can be really helpful.
Besides, quite some people liked GameAmp:Core when it worked, mostly due to said reason that this application does, no ALT-TAB :D

Notice how everything I said in my first post had "I" somewhere on there?

As for gaming, theres various reasons why you would type "blind" like trying to pay attention to the game. Lets take a FPS game, if your watching your text and someone walks by you, lets say they didnt see you at first and they come back to that corner and see you then kill you. You were watching your text and never saw them at all.

Now, lets say you were watching what was going on in the game, you can escape out of the chat and be ready for them, or even go to chase them down. Considering the sluggishness is in a program that you run while gaming, its more like why wouldnt you type "blind"?

As for games that take awhile to load after alt+tabbing.....why would you need to alt tab in the first place? If I get a message while gaming, I usually just ignore it until I am done. And I honestly cant think of one time I have played a FPS game (like you mentioned, Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Battlefield 2) that I have needed to find something on the net.

I presumed you where just about normal posting and typing like messengers.
In FPS its a sin if you need to watch your keyboard, everyone seems to know where to find W,A,S,D these days, few actually know more then that too, Spacebar, hell anyone can find it, but apparantly alot of people are slow enough not to find a key to open a map or another menu, which if you played Battlefield 2 might know can come in handy.

Im not presuming your daft enough to actually make a Forum post while fragging, if you do being fragged is your own responsibility, not the Program's fault.
The only issue with the delay is that when you'd for example are in the server list browsing, then it might actually be annoying, for people that don't wear a blindfold, we're not all Neo you know.

That you ignore all messages is your deal, some people have MSN on their mobiles? Are we also going to tell them that's not the way its supposed to be?
Some people are contact-crazy, they cant sleep if their mobiles off, or atleast feel very uncomfortable, are we in the right place to judge that? I think we are not.
So yes, some people might not want to ignore messages, and thats when they hit the dreaded ALT-TAB, and that's when things start to take a while, presuming your not on a SkullTrail Duo-Quad CPU Triple GPU Computer that is.

As for browsing, no you don't need that alot, unless you are browsing for the latest hacks and aimbots, but for games like Oblivion where ALT-TAB usually means when you return to the game all is frozen but your mouse, it might come in very handy for those ''need to check wiki'' moments.

Notice how i generalize it constantly for the sake to make this program look publicly available instead of personal-taste tailored.

You might aswel start to wonder why people use X-Fire for its ingame stuff, wow, such crazy people :D

Xfire is great. Specially if you play games like Call of Duty, Battlefield etc. You can easily track the servers you play on and check is someone you know online without first starting the game.

You should download it too, Forumite.

EDIT: Oh, and you can take screens without going to paint + free in game cam.

As far as the In-Game Recording goes hows the MB usage? Xfire (i know my screen on gw is 1680x1050) but on the low mode in xfire video it takes up like in GB per minute O.o

And reducing the res in Gw messes up my interface settings and window sizes.. why cant anet give us an option to save interface settings anyway..

I stuck with gamecam2 for recording. But yeah tell me how the recording is on this new program.

Do you guys have the same problem,.
when i log in to msn on GO2 and try to send a message to someone,GW close;s down :(

Studies show that 92% of teens listen to rap. If you are part of the 8% that listens to real music the add this to your signature.

Don't have that, only know MSN closes when i login with GO, its still in Beta, bugs like this obviously will be solved.

http://www.gameoxygen.com/go2/support.aspx

Maybe check their forums or tell them about the bug if you want, every help is useful.
