the other night while in the game my screen went crazy, breaking up in squares large and small,jumping with all shapes of angles. It lastes a few then never came back. now it starts with in 10 to 15 min into the game. this doesn't happen when I am not in the game. Is it my video card?

If it only does it in game then it sounds like your video card to me.
*What kind of video card is it?
*How old is it?
*Have you updated your drivers lately?
*Is your tower in an inclosed area where it has poor ventilation?
The last question involves overheating which could mean you have another problem other than the video card.

Phase hit it right on. I would update your video drivers then look at heat. When you're playing the game put your hand at the back of the tower and see how warm the air is coming out of the power supply. If it feels pretty warm then the inside of your PC is hot. The inside temp will be 50 to 60 degrees or more higher than the air coming out there. COH runs a CPU and video processor chip to the max, which generates maximum heat in the case. Not to mention accessing the hard drive more, whcih also generates heat. More and more these days with my customers I'm finding heat is a major problem, especially in high use situations. And that definitely describes COH.

Many thanks to you both
card is ATI radeon graphics processor (9600 series) 128mb
I just up dated the drivers, now game stays in "loading mode"
where the tower sits it stays cool.
card is about 5-6 years old...looks like time for a new card
any recommendations

I would definitly stay with ATI.
1. Because you are already familiar with ATI.
2. The 9600 and 9800 Series are very good/affordable. Ecspecially with COH/COV. If you want a serious gaming Video Card then your going get into the big $$$.

If you're in a "price isn't a huge object" position and you have a PCIe-16 slot in the machine, I would go with an NVidia 8800 GTS. It's a little on the pricey side, but it's an OUTSTANDING card. I've been running it for a while now and it's great. Just make sure it's a GTS if you go the NVidia route. The GS cards just don't work all that well for CoH.

I myself am running an AGP 8x GeForce 6200 516 megs ram. Very very affordable card with awesome graphics. The card itself is designed for gaming and marketed under their XFX Brand. Bought mine from Tiger Direct, never once even blinked at the price. Again, awesome graphics!

went to circuit city yesterday I was extremely lucky in the fact the sales "boy" was a gamer...that is the card he recommended and I bought it....you are right...the price was perfect.... easy to install even I could do it!!!!!!
thanks to everyone for the help
I even told him I went to the forums for help...he felt that was my best move!!!
