MM Duo

Going to MM duo with a friend. He wants Thugs so I took Bots/DM most likely. What secondary for the Thugs would you recommend? Was initially thinking Poison but not sure how much he would enjoy it. Any other suggestions for a duo?

RE: MM Duo

On my Thug Mastermind I took Traps. Traps can be very deadly, but you have to understand their strong points.

Traps are about taking time and setting up where you are going to pull the mobs. Then once you get them where you want them get your henchmen to do the clean up. If you dont mind taking your time with each group then this is a good way to go. If you want fast pace then I would pass on Traps.

Poison is very good for debuffs. Plus it has a heal as well.

Storm would be good for controlling the mobs with Ice Storm and Thunder Clap you can keep the mobs either falling down or disorented long enough to take them out.

Force Field is kind of a toss up. Either it is your play style or its not. Lots of team buffs, but lack of mob control creates some difficulty.

Trick Arrow has alot of mob control abilities. Problem is in the low levels it seems like you are doing very little with the TA set. About mid 20s you should see an improvement in the way you handle mobs.

If your partner is running the Dark Secondary which has a good AoE To Hit Debuff and Tar Patch which increases the damage your enemies take you may want to go with more of a Control Secondary. This way you can keep the mobs closer together and take them out faster.

RE: MM Duo

I figured with the /poison we could make puddy out of anything we came across. But it may be a tad overkill perhaps? Although I'm a fan of control, I dunno if it could be something he would enjoy. For me, DM is my "must have"

OK, I looked at Storm briefly and am still unfamiliar. It looks to have some debuff/buff likenesses of DM including stealth and even adds +res to other elements outside of DM on top of that. Which would round us out more efficiently. And Hurricane gives a bit of a FF style defense for us outside of pets which could help in PVP? Plus keeping goons outta melee range. Any suggestions as to what NOT to take in Storm? May help me to decide for us.

RE: MM Duo

Having gotten my thugs/storm to 39, the 2 powers from storm I rarely use, and usually only for giggles, are Thunder Clap and Tornado. TC only seems to stun minions, and with hurricane going, isn't reliable.I know I could turn off hurricane to use TC, but its too annoying turning toggles on and off, and the -acc is better than a stun that could miss.

Tornado is an ok power by itself, but it scatters mobs, while leaving them stunned and with lowered defense. Also its end cost is rather high, even with 2 end reduction on it.

Thunder Clap:
+Stuns minions around you
-Rather inaccurate
-ONLY minions get stunned

Tornado:
+Is auto hit
+Stuns
+lowers defense
-/+knocks enemies off their feet, and keeps them off their feet.

RE: MM Duo

Any other thoughts on the Thugs secondary to compliment DM? Both being invisible seems interesting. Also, are pets concealed as long as they are within range or does it matter? Or are they concealed at all? Planning on taking Speed Pool. Does MY invisibility include pets as well or no?

The invisibility or rather stealth from shadow fall will effect your pets if they are in range, shadow fall with speed pool will make YOU invisible, but not ur pets, DM overall is a nice set that compliments most of the pet sets, as long as you ignore blackhole you should be fine

If you go Storm for the Thugs dude you can get Steamy Mist which can stack with your Shadowfall and pretty much make it so your pets are invisible (at least in PvE anyways).

My two inf.

Just to clarify: Concealment Pool powers do not stack with Steamy Mist and Shadowfall. Taking Invisibility and using it will cause "only affecting self" status. This means you can only affect yourself (duh). No controlling pets, no buffing, no de-buffing, nada.

The PvE bonus to stealth offered by SS only affects you, not your pets.

Keep in mind that once you attack or have your pets attack out of stealth will allow you (or them) to be seen. This is due to a ten second stealth suppression that occurs every time an action is taken in stealth. This includes clicking glowies.

Yeah, that's like 5 inf right there. Sorry.

Not specing the Concealment pool. Sorry if any confusion. But AM planning on Speed. So Storm over Poison ftw?

RE: MM Duo

Personally I would go with poison being paired with DM, as storm slows, slows mean nothing really if the enemy is missing consistantly, theres no difference if the enemy attacks 5 times and misses or if he attacks 3 times and misses, i suggest Poison or, everyone gasp, Force field for buffs or maybe trick arrow, but then again its all in my opinion, still would say Poison though
